PlayStation Riffmasters do not work for Fortnite Festival on PC at this time. They DO work for Clone Hero and other games, however.
They still tried to lie to us

1: PS4/PS5 Riftmaster Wireless Guitar Controller
2: Xbox X|S, Xbox One, & PC Wireless Guitar Controller
PC is only involved in Xbox and PC controllers, doesn't show in PlayStation anyways.
This guitar is compatible with the Guitar Hero games on the PS2... it marked an era, I hope I can use it 😂
Oddly enough, I can't get my Xbox Riffmaster to be detected on Clone Hero, just Festival. Not sure if there is a workaround
"Clone Hero and other games" -- Does that include tilt and whammy? Because I've seen mixed comments about it. Nobody that HAS a PS Riffmaster in their hands seems interested in giving a straight answer - that is, before I saw your comment/video. I play RB4 on PS5 and also Clone Hero, and I am NOT INTERESTED in seeking out separate versions for each. I don't care a bit about Fortnite btw. Thanks!
Edit: I see further down you said tilt doesn't work in CH. That's too bad but don't think it's a dealbreaker. I'm happy that it works at all.

with FN Festival getting lots of push it makes sense they're making limited peripherals now
I quit playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band type games in 2011 because I thought that they would just stop making the Guitar controllers. I might get back into it now and use it with Clone Hero. I prefer the Guitar Hero strum bars because they are more clicky.

Fortnite Festival just turned me into a Rhythm game fan. I've never once played Guitar Hero/Clone Hero/Rock Band. And the Riffmaster will be my first ever guitar that I'll own and play.

Me too, I discovered rhythm games through the Fortnite festival, thanks to it I started playing Guitar Hero 1 and now I'm addicted to Clone Hero haha, I already left the Fortnite festival, you'll realize that the GH have much superior gameplay

Never used a rock band guitar before but the fact that it's way quieter and is more friendly for lefty players are huge selling points to me, excited to pick one up

The fact rhythm games are making a come back is wild to me. Its honestly thanks to people like this guy for still playing them long after they fell out of favor with the general public. Also the clone hero team. But Fortnight adding a rockband like game to their game is huge and is getting lots of people back into these games or into them for the first time.
This looks really good! Excited to pick up a couple of these for my PC gaming. I believe they said the dongle should work with Windows as well, but we'll have to check...

Thank you for reviewing this man. As a zoomer rhythm game player, I always wanted to get my own guitar controller but unfortunately I haven’t been able to obviously due to no new GH/RB games being made anymore. This will finally allow me to try a guitar controller for the first time and I am so stoked! I cant wait to hopefully become as good as you and the Lore Hero group one day. :)

Man I’m excited for when they finally release these, my Rock Band 2 strat is starting to show its age and a brand new guitar for RB4 would be amazing. Hopefully soon they announce a release date and price
The guitar looks great and I love the name of it. I can’t wait to get my hands on it because I need a backup RB Guitar just in case my Red Fender Jaguar guitar breaks. Unfortunately my blue one doesn’t turn on and want to connect to my PS4. Great review. 👏

I’m really excited for when this comes out. I’ve been playing Clone Hero off and on for years, but I really got back into these rhythm games due to Festival. This controller looks really nice even if I’d prefer a Guitar Hero set up instead of Rock Band. Great video man!
Looks so sick and I’ll definitely pick it up when it releases BUT I REALLY prefer the GH style with protruding buttons and a clicky strum bar.
Hope they will be readily available over here, too. Finally a chance to get one for other platforms and make sure they all work in my game (only got PS controllers and it's impossible to find any otherwise). Not to mention the constant dread of "if my controller dies, I can't get a new one".
Are you able to use the lower solo buttons on clone hero as well?
Glad they are making new guitar controllers. Hopefully they are successful and we see drum controllers made too. Just cracked my rockband drums recently and really would like something brand new out of box.

I've always preferred Rock Band style guitars even if that makes me a weirdo. I'll definitely buy a couple of these to support more of these being made and I'm exited to try this for myself. Not so exited about it being a piano black fingerprint magnet but hey what can you do.

the one thing I wish they'd done was make it a bit bulkier, that's the thing about the Warbeast controller that gave me hope for this
How are you activating Star Power, and how does it feel? It looks like you're trying to hit the thin select / back button with a pinky. I never learned how to palm Select (especially on the older models with a round select) so looking at this I feel like I'd revert to tilting or seeing if I could assign select to an input on the neck-mounted analog stick.
While Clone Hero does allow for inputs from multiple devices (so I can use a foot pedal for SP), RPCS3, YARG and WTDE don't so there's also the option of feeding the Riffmaster and a pedal through xbox360CE, but then that'd probably add latency. If the Riffmaster has a nicer onboard method of hitting SP, that'd be lovely - is it just easier than it looks to hit those buttons?
I'm actually hitting left on the Dpad to activate SP. It's kinda awkward, but once my pinky got acquainted with the movement down to that button it wasn't too bad. Just had to be careful not to press up or down on the Dpad because that will cause a strum

God, Dream Genie is like its own kind of rhythm game compared to the rest of the songs in any Guitar Hero/Rock Band game. Just tech fc'd it and can't wait to grind it on this controller. This video was very helpful. Thanks!

Activating star power with the dpad is the only thing keeping me from ordering one. I remember when the Xplorer came out and some of us glued a coin to it for easier activation/squeezing, maybe there will be a similar workaround for this one
can this be used with all the old guitar hero games? what about Guitar flash on pc?
Yeah I bought a used guitar for 70 on Mercari it worked for like a week now the strum bar double strums -.- can’t wait for this one

Seems like some early batch copies of the Riffmaster has some hardware issues according to Amazon. Hopefully by the time I get around to buying one they'll be resolved.
Finally i need one for Xbox for years now i want to buy RockBand 4 because all my DLC for RB 1 to 3 was on the 360 .And Rock Band 4 dongle for Xbox are impossible to find .Cant wait for this !!!
Does the Rifflaster's whammy bar work when you play Clone Hero? Heard some complaints about it not working in that setting.
I personally preferred GH Controllers back in the five-fret guitar game hayday, but I'll certainly get one of these if the scalpers don't get to it.
I don't even have the time to play that much clone hero, but I might actually get this. I don't own any consoles and I've really never played Rock band but honestly I just want to support new guitars being made by actually reputable companies. Great video!

honestly just hope the strum bar is more durable than the OG RB1 guitars cuz mine broke years ago due to strumming too hard since I strum with mainly my thumb like a bass guitar and that thing was for sure not designed with how violent my strumming can be
but can you hit select for overdrive with your pinky like the old rock band guitars?

Would i need the xbox version of this guitar to play on pc or would the ps4/ps5 work for clone hero? If it does i am in need of a brand new guitar since mine is overstruming like crazy and such.

Which game can we play on ps5 with a guitar like this? Or, better yet, can we still play guitar hero 3 with controller on ps4 or 5 ?

My only complaint is how close the share and select button are to each other. I deploy overdrive with my pinky and I’m constantly hitting the share button. Very annoying. I opened it up and removed the share button
Just wondering, since it works on PS4 and PS5 using a dongle, does it use the same protocol as older Rock Band guitars for PS2/PS3 as well? Would I be able to use this one those platforms as well kinda like how you can use a PS2/PS3 guitar on PS4/PS5?

I'm kind of iffy on getting one of these bad boys at the moment since I already have an RB4 Strat (Xbox ver.) and a RetrocultMods adapter that allows me to use my GHWT Sunburst Genericaster on my Xbox Series X as well. I gotta admit, a brand new 2024 guitar for Rock Band 4/Fortnite Festival is awfully tantalizing, but I was really hoping the Playstation version would have the added bonus of working with PS2/PS3 as well, but it's nbd. Can't wait for instrument support in FF, especially drums! Thanks for the coverage.
@@mazda9624 understandable, you've got a good set of instruments already. I'm personally going to buy one for Xbox when they're available, not just to support a product I like and to signal more demand for it, but because I think it's incredible that there's a new instrument coming out at this late date and who knows how many will be made, and if there will ever be an opportunity to buy a brand new guitar peripheral ever again.

uk pre orders are at game now £130 out 08/05/2024 and amazon uk but 3/5 idk why its early at amazon
