How to draw a bird beak in pastels | Realistic Peacock drawing

In this tutorial I'll show how to draw a bird's beak in pastels. This tips I share in this video can be applied to any smoother element within a drawing. The initial layering process of the base foundation is what makes a big difference to the smoothness that is achieved. Contrast and values play a big part just like when drawing realistic fur and feathers.

So appreciate your talents, your commentary, and your reasons for working in manageable parts.
I'll try that with some watercolor when applicable, as I do oftentimes feel overwhelmed and worse, I then tend to hurry. Result - frown frown.

Hi Zara! I have followed several of your lessons to date and have found them extremely useful as I try to come to grips with pastel pencils. However, I am experiencing a problem that is marring the finished work. I do not seem to be able to 'lose' the tooth of the paper in some areas. Is it simply that I am not applying enough pastel, not blending it sufficiently, or what? I would welcome your advice.

@@Carolinasepulvedafonck I've got a few smaller studies that are good for beginners. The Tiger eye is a great beginner tutorial but that also covers how to use the pencil for detail etc.
