  • Taken 10/18/22. With one more day of Vacation before returning to Work, took some time out of my day for some M3s. Found one en route to Port Washington. With a Trainee up front, the Rear Window was the all I could do, plus had to cut the video before PW to let the Brakeman into the rear Cab. Once I reached Port Wash, took a break and picked up a Slice down the block. Upon returning, a different Engineer took this Train back to Penn Station and I had access to the front. After the trip, I called it a day and took the next Babylon Train connecting with #2774. While I could've rode this back to Port Wash, I didn't want to get home very late. Enjoy!

    Another great ride! I understand the PRR signals, which is the basis for the LIRR signals (with a bit of the B&O sprinkled in) but what was the aspect of the sole flashing yellow at Flushing/Main St? Advance approach? Thanks

      I've been studying LIRR signals for an upcoming test and I've never encountered a signal like that in the handbook. A flashing yellow color light signal indicates Slow-approach, so maybe that's the aspect!

    Why did this train skip Plandome and Broadway?

    At Flushing Main Street, don't you transfer to the (7) Train? It is the last stop.

      You certainly could, if you needed to reach the east side of Manhattan.

    Why does the LIRR use frogs without guard or check rails? I noticed almost every other frog set is self guarding.

    Quick question what do the bells I hear in the background mean sounds like an old crank telephone. Thank you for your response. Enjoy your videos very much.

      Short bells are the alerter. Long bells mean the speed code is dropping

    Only one track?? What happened to that track on the left side?? 🤔

      the line beyond the manhasset viaduct is single tracked because the viaduct is, and after that its a short distance to the terminus so returning to double track doesn't make a lot of sense with the frequency of trains and demand

    Long Island Snail Road…picked earlier hours to avoid traffic & drove in/out of NYC. Kept many hours of my life i would’ve lost riding the rails.

      I'm not sure but you certainly don't hear that noise when you're sitting in a seat

    Does California have this kind of commuter rail system? Anybody know?.

    • @davidthaler7018
      @davidthaler7018 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are variations of it. In the Bay Area, there’s BART, which travels around the bay bringing commuters to San Francisco, and CalTrain, which runs from San Francisco to south of San Jose. In the Los Angeles area, MetroLink carries passengers from Orange and Riverside Counties to downtown Los Angeles. The San Diego area has some independent rail systems that carry passengers to transit centers where they can board trains to downtown San Diego.
      The MetroLink system is probably the closest equivalent since there are multiple lines. Some share stations, but there’s no “Jamaica” equivalent, at least not of the same magnitude.
