I didn't even pick up the fact that sawtooth referred to their alternate timeline self with they/them pronouns, heck I only picked it up after hearing about it from that 30 minute video talking about their disappearance
I wouldn't agree to the story. I believe, that something would happen along these lines:
Celestia has still the Elements of Harmony, so she defeats Nightmare Moon herself. Twilight is still in Canterlot, because everything was postponed. This would mean, due to failing in the first place, Twilight tries to practise harder, to read even more books, until she becomes powerful enough to get a Cutie Mark. She will get it, but as the Mane 6 are not together, the only one, capable of using the Elements of Harmony is Celestia herself. As we have seen, Celestia can be overpowered very easily, when there is a surprise attack. Twilight would be strong, but weaker than in the actual timeline, as she has no connection to the elements of friendship. So maybe Chrysalis manages to cocoon Celestia and Twilight and Cadance stays either in the mirror-world or isn't able to make an Amor-ex-machina with Shining Armor for some other reason. So the Mane 5 join the resistance under Zecora.

While I like the idea of alternate timelines being a thing in MLP, that’s not how it works. Because in What’s About Time? Twilight said herself that the past cannot be changed as we see proven later in the episode where she also goes back to try and warn her past self, only to run out of time. I know what you may be thinking, “But Starlight managed to change the past and by doing that changed the future.” You’re right. However, Zecora in the future where Chrysalis took over Equestria explains that even the tiny changes can lead to different results, and shows this by redirecting a stream of water down a different path by placing her hoof in front of it. If this was an alternate timeline, it would’ve split into two streams, not be simply redirected.
Was the discord able to escape because the elements of harmony wouldn't have been free and twilight wouldn't have ruled them since so then celestial would have kept ruling them and discord wouldn't happen
Nightmare moon being successful and chrysalis being successful are 2 different time lines I will explain both in one comment starting with chrysalis
So in this timeline Celestia did banish Luna to the moon, and open up a school. Had sunset shimmer and Cadence as students Overall the same thing happened, but instead of Sunset Shimmer going into the human world she banishes Celestia to the human world. And locks the mirror. After that sunset Shimmer ruled equestria for 2 years. But during those 2 years the it was always sunset and the moon all the way up in the sky. That’s when Chrysalis came in and took Celestia’s form. She would say to the citizens of equestria as Celestia. I never went to the human world I just went missing. I’m alive and well and with your help we can take back equestria. They all believe Chrysallis was Celestia so they went into the war. Chrysallis order the changelings to disguise as the pony royal guards. With the changeling army the citizens of equestria army and Chrysallis powerful self Sunset Shimmer and her army stood no chance. Then phase 2 happened Chrysallis dropped her disguise and ordered the changelings to do the same. As for nightmare moon Chrysalis removed the stars so nightmare moon could not escape. As for the wedding Cadence and Shinning Armor did get married but Chrysalis did not take Cadence’s form they still had the wedding except Chrysallis was not present during the wedding a changeling was the person getting them married. As for twilight she was still in Celestia’s school Cadence still babysat her the only thing is she never went to ponyville. After moon dancers party Twilight got a little closer to her Canterlot friends but that is all for Twilight. As for Discord he never broke out of stone

Why can't you just ask thorax he's literally one of the good changelings he was there during the attack so he knows besides he's the only one who trusts ponies and made all the changelings good besides even got his brother to transform into a good changeling so he's Brave and kind so ask him instead of a random changing that we don't even know and that's in prison

The description give the basis of the controversy, but here are more details for those who want it.
The basic story of what happened goes as follows (yes, you'll have to read a bit but this is a condensed version of the mountains of text they gave):
A 15-year-old fan (a name I've seen is Ash) was a big fan of Sawtooth and made art and videos for him. He eventually saw them and thanked her for the art. They became friends, talking about MLP theories. He has done this with many fans and even featured some in collabs on his episodes. Eventually she confesses that she has a crush on Sawtooth (whom had just turned 19), making him feel awkward about their relationship and initially denying her feelings back. Some weeks later, the conversation came back again he came back with a "maybe if you were older" type comment which gave her hope in that they could be a couple when she was older but for now would just be friends.
Over the next year or so, they would become much closer, talking more openly about things like mental health, family situations, et cetera. They were essentially online bf and gf but didn't do too much apart from roleplay and virtual hugs and kisses. Typical teenager stuff. Then her mother comes in, and she is quite abusive to Ash and threatens Sawtooth to stop talking to her. This is when both parties realised how serious this relationship could be. They didn't want to give up being friends but were willing to put themselves at distance. They would go weeks or even months without talking because of her mother's rules, but they did occasionally mail to each other (as they had done prior while sending fanart to each other). During these separations, she became even more obsessive than she was to the point that she started ignoring her studies and failing in school. On the few times they did reconvene, Sawtooth warned her to not ignore school but she ignored his warnings.
By about 2019, they were barely in any contact. Her mother placed a final strict separation between them, though Ash would still text Sawtooth, even though he refused to text back because of her mother's boundaries. A point that was brought up earlier was that when she turns 18, she can make her own decisions and wouldn't have to listen to her mother anymore. When she did turn 18, Sawtooth would start returning her texts and they would officially become a couple. At this point, they began exploring a mild sexual relationship (no one was forced or pressured to do anything), but this wouldn't last too long. The relationship was immediately toxic and ended barely 6 months (I believe) after it started. Sawtooth was the one to break it off.
They apparently had a momentary FWB deal but there really is no detail as to how all of that went but they were both adults at this time so it generally isn't our business but it was clear their relationship had grown sour. Then by 2022, Ash told Sawtooth that she was gonna expose him for their relationship and Sawtooth knew that if she did, he would never be trusted again because he knows how the internet is gonna take stuff like this. She got him to beg that she not come forward because it would mean the end of his channel. He would eventually accept this and stopped making videos for a while. By February, both made posts around the same time detailing their sides and Sawtooth privated his channel. She blames him for being 19 and fraternising with a 15 year-old at the time and for being the reason she did bad in school and can't go to college.
I'm not even framing it, that is literally what her trauma was; that she did bad and school and blames it on him. It's obvious to me at least that this was a masterclass of a nothing burger that honestly has nothing to do with us so there was no reason they should have actively destroyed his career, but we all know how the internet is. No one can make a mistake without being caught and cancelled for it, no matter how many years have passed or how small the mistake was.
