There's no mention here of the lyrics. NMA write and perform wonderfully catchy and melodic music but Justin's Lyrics are exceptional too. I've posted them separately.
Was lucky enough to see New Model Army on back to back nights in the USA for the Thunder and Consolation tour. I still buy every album that comes out to this day
The roll of distant thunder breaks, the afternoon of silence wakes They hurry through from Petergate* as if they know this dance In fury blind, I drive at night across the moors, the open roads Beneath the freezing starry skies, racing in some trance These cities are illusions of some triumph over Nature's laws We've seen the iron carcass rust and buildings topple into dust And as the waters rise, it seems we cling to all the rootless things The Christian lies, technology, while spirits scream and sing Oh God I love the world Well I never said I was a clever man but I know enough to understand That the endless leaps and forward plans will someday have to cease You blind yourselves with comfort lies like lightning never strikes you twice And we laugh at your amazed surprise as the Ark begins to sink This temple that is built so well to separate us from ourselves Is a power grown beyond control, a will without a face And watching from outside I wish that I could wash my hands of this But we are locked together here, this bittersweet embrace Oh God I love the world And if one day the final fire explodes across the whitened sky I know you've said you'd rather die and make it over fast With courage from your bravest friends, waiting outside for the end With no bitterness but an innocence that I can't seem to grasp I know somehow I will survive - this fury just to stay alive So drunk with sickness, weak with pain, I can walk the hills one last time Scarred and smiling, dying slow, I'll scream to no one left at all I told you so, I told you so, I told you so . . Oh God I love the world The band originated in Bradford, an industrial city in the North of England, close to the Yorkshire moors. Petergate was a street in the centre of the city but I think that it's now disappeared through redevelopment.
Thank you for doing this! My fave band, formed in my hometown back home in the UK. Been following them and seen them play more times than I care to remember over the last close to 40 years! As other people have said, their lyrics have a way of striking chords within you, their music just resonates like no other band manages to come close to. They can have you screaming defiance one minute and bawling with sadness the next. My personal suggestions would be to hear some of their early music and work your way forward. Vengeance would be a good place to start. But so many iconic songs. Ambition, Lovesongs, No Rest, No Greater Love, Whitecoats, 51st State, Poison street, Vagabonds, Family, Green & Grey, Here comes the war, Marrakesh….thats just the tip of the iceberg 😁
New Model Army have a fantastic back catalogue of songs from their first album, Vengeance, from 1984 through to the latest album, Unbroken, released this year. some recommendations are:Vengeance, Master Race, Family, Vagabonds, Bad Old World, R&R, Angry Planet, End of Days & Never Arriving.
This band is phenomenal. I was at one of their concerts on the Thunder and Consolation tour and was in the thrashing crowd singing "I love the world" with the whole hall. It was so powerful that I was crying angry tears while we were all jumping up and down. It still has a huge emotional impact on my every time I hear it.
Wow an NMA reaction 😯 I went to many metal concerts as a teen but the NMA one was the most exilerating adrenaline rush of all. Doesn't come across in the vid but never mind.
Like others on this thread, I've been a fan for 40 years. Outstanding artists. Green & Gray and Vagabonds are probably the top fan favorites overall. But there is so much to love. Listen to a few more, and you'll be new members of The Family, as fans call themselves.
Outstanding! This band are the soundtrack of my life. I have traveled to so many places to see them. Thanks for the reaction. They are the best band live that I have ever seen!
Middle-aged New Model Army obsessive fan from the UK here, seen them live over 120 times since the late 80's! It's a shame how they're practically unknown in the US and it's always great to see someone reacting to them for the first time.

You should react to better then them, white light, vagabonds, knife. There are so many great songs by NMA. You really should listen to every album to understand them
I learned of New Model Army because of the Anacrusis cover of this song. Now I can't get enough of them. Anacrusis - I Love the World: th-cam.com/video/9NQWVJeRsmg/w-d-xo.html

Thunder and consolation is a must own album
The roll of distant thunder breaks, the afternoon of silence wakes
They hurry through from Petergate* as if they know this dance
In fury blind, I drive at night across the moors, the open roads
Beneath the freezing starry skies, racing in some trance
These cities are illusions of some triumph over Nature's laws
We've seen the iron carcass rust and buildings topple into dust
And as the waters rise, it seems we cling to all the rootless things
The Christian lies, technology, while spirits scream and sing
Oh God I love the world
Well I never said I was a clever man but I know enough to understand
That the endless leaps and forward plans will someday have to cease
You blind yourselves with comfort lies like lightning never strikes you twice
And we laugh at your amazed surprise as the Ark begins to sink
This temple that is built so well to separate us from ourselves
Is a power grown beyond control, a will without a face
And watching from outside I wish that I could wash my hands of this
But we are locked together here, this bittersweet embrace
Oh God I love the world
And if one day the final fire explodes across the whitened sky
I know you've said you'd rather die and make it over fast
With courage from your bravest friends, waiting outside for the end
With no bitterness but an innocence that I can't seem to grasp
I know somehow I will survive - this fury just to stay alive
So drunk with sickness, weak with pain, I can walk the hills one last time
Scarred and smiling, dying slow, I'll scream to no one left at all
I told you so, I told you so, I told you so . .

You should do all the songs mentioned above, but probably the next song should be Green And Grey.
White Light, Here Comes The War, Wonderful Way to Go, Born Feral, Reload, Coming or Going...

No Rest, Vengeance, Smalltown England and Heroin are my favourite NMA songs
You will love the world more after you react to the '73 live version of Hocus Pocus by Focus! 😊
Saw them first 1985, here (north Germany), Open air at night.. Great.

Hi there is a Canadian guy his chanell is called robkreacts he has done I think nearly 15 NMA reactions for me
Strange thing... they did best in Germany. I've seen them live in Cologne and listening to them for about 40 years...
Same. Every December for so many years. Went to London for the nights of 1000 voices and to Berlin for Symphonia. To me the most important band ever.

The best band of all time.
This is the scariest "end of the world" song ever written!
Give their song Mixam a shot
So. Check out.
,, Null positiv - wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer,, /(song about war tragic).. *great female voice.

Justin Sullivan is the best lyricist to come from England.
