Good video. My top end failed a 2nd time very shortly after due to an air leak at the intake manifold boot's gasket

Hey good video, id like to see a 2 stroke leak down video.
I just finished rebuilding a 125 motor i used heat to install the bearings and a crank installer. But when i went to put the primary gear on it stuck out past the end of my crank so when i torqued it down it locked up the crank. Iv rebuilt 3 or 4 motors like this and never had this issue, the crank before the primary gear installed moved smoothly so i just put a washer on the end of the crank and problem solved. Another thing the race was extremely hard to push into the right main seal?

NGK plugs are terrible ...you can't tell how tight they are...until you strip the head.

Hi Mark...are you aware there are "fake" NGK plugs running around? There is also a new torque or a reuse torque procedure if using the "degree" or rotation vs. a torque wrench. Great info on the website or in our videos here on the channel.
We sure love you taking the time to comment. Are you coming to the next live session?

@@How2Wrench You know I did hear that and had forgotten about it. I restore and repair vintage outboards and have had SO MANY NGK plugs that the washer is so thick that you KEEP tightening until those old holes in the head just strip. A champion plug just snugs up...period. That is NOT to say I am a big fan of champion plugs. The NGK you need to snug, back off, snug and back off 4 or 5 times to get the washer flattened.

@@outboardfixer Could you make a "dummy head" with a nut machined down nice and smooth and "pre-crush" the gasket when concerned about working on an old head? That way you would have to rely on the "old head threads" to crush the gasket down?

@@How2Wrench Yes, that is a good idea. I have a gazillion old Tecumseh heads here...don't know why i never thought of that.
