Great to see that there are indeed schools like this in the U.S.A. Young people getting taught a valuable skill. No such luck in South Africa anymore. You guys have a really good teacher over there. Great instructional video.
I have torn apart this same power valve system multiple times on my 97 kx125 it was a good learning experience for me I've been doing this stuff a long time and I love it

One on the most complicated power valve assemblies ever was this power valve system its called the kips power valve system or (Kawasaki integrated power valve system) it was way more complex than it needed to be and it was known for sheering off gear teeth on the timing gear shafts
They've really changed the kips system in later 2000 after July. They went with the helix on the end of the power valve and the exhaust port valve is a damper style with pins on each end that go into the helix groove in the power valve.
Taking off the 94' TZR powervalves means I take out 4 screws and a cable assembly. A cap on one side(2 screws) a retainer on the other and one that splits the actual valve in half! 15 mins top!
Now that you say it. I was working on my Suzuki the other day and I noticed my screwdriver wouldn't fit right on one of the screws on the carb. It seemed like the correct drive but I wound up stripping the the head of the screw out. It looked just like a ph2 but didn't seat correctly like in this video. I had to chisel a slot on it to use a flat head to remove.
Great think about TH-cam is I learn all the time from comments and other vids. It was a comment on one of my videos that informed me of JIS screwdrivers! So many awesome people sharing. 👍
How did ya'll remove the bolt at 17:40? I have two similar bolts on the powervalve on my rm250, that were already stripped and I could not remove them.
I know this is a old video and a great one very useful . But the Japanese screw driver they are talking about they do make it's. j.i.s ,. You can Google jis screwdriver . Any Phillips looking screw that has a dot next to the x is a jis .
You can identify a JIS standard screw by the dot on the head, heres a very interesting article full of pictures and comparisons of the JIS standard. If you want the TL:DR version nobody makes a proper JIS screwdriver anymore but some of the best bits I've ever owned come in a three pack from vessel and fit the heads VERY well, part number: A-16621, here's the article: webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-tools/hozan-jis-screwdrivers-review/ I strongly urge anyone who comes across a few of those dotted phillips JIS screws to pick up a set, they bite really hard.

There is such a thing bud. They are called JIS screwdrivers. Ask your SnapOn Rep. Not popular in the US but used throughout the world on metric fasteners.
2 strokes have come a long way since the late 80s. Great job teaching the youth of America 👍🏻

I didn't know that. I'll look into that. I wouldn't expect that from a Phillips drive because it seems so standard throughout everywhere.

For bike you need to get a set of screwdrivers called Japanese industrial standard or (JIS)
This is a pretty old video. We have one upcoming that will compare them. Stay tuned.
plenty of goods to bore it out?

99 CR 125 power valves so simple
Thats common wear on this PV those teeth always wear out on the rack and the spindle

Because it's a ph3 or ph4 Philips. Not a ph2. I've never heard of a metric Philips. Snap On must laugh.
There is such a thing bud. They are called JIS screwdrivers. Ask your SnapOn Rep. Not popular in the US but used throughout the world on metric fasteners.
yes a ph3 probably would have fit better lmao, that screw driver was so far off but it was deff a jis screw.
