Thanks Nick for sharing the cam angles and differences! Very rarely does anyone do this online. I have a K20a2 full bolt on and RBC manifold PLM header 2.5" straight through exhaust. I basically only tune my cars on the street, I've been running 40 degrees from 2750-5000 low cam, which coincides with the 40 degrees on the vtec cam, tapering from 40-25 from 6000-9000. Changing that today. I've also heard Brent at PFI say that the RSX type S cam likes to taper off cam angle up top as well. I made a slight change, I'll try 30 on the entire low cam 1750-5000, and then vtec cam is now 40 to 6500 and tapers to 25 at 8000 and up. All my tuning is watching for knocks and butt dynos. Thanks again!
Sounds like you know the software well - If you are already doing your own street tuning why not rent a dyno for an hour and do some pulls so that you can really fine tune ignition and VTC
@@paulcussler8629 I have the RBC manifold and the J35 bolts right up. Only modification is trimming some material from the inside of manifold opening to match the larger J35. It's only a few mm

Just bought hondata flashpro for my 09 5at k24z3 tsx !! S.r.i, basic flash tune and that's it. Should I go rev9 downpipe, 2nd highflow cat + vibrant muffler + oem exhaust (reso and oem mufflers at the end ) :) cant wait to get it fine tuned
Hello, my comment doesnt really pertain to this video, but this was the most current vid of yours featuring an 8thgen civic, so I thought Id ask my question(s) here. Ive been watching a few of your vids and Im considering buying some Drag Cartel 2.2 cams on sale for black friday. I currently have a set of 08 TSX cams that I havent installed yet. Ive been thinking now, that if Im gonna open it up, I might as well go for the drag cartels. My problem is that Ive watched vids of you tuning k20z3s with the 2.2 cams and with the TSX cams and you were able to squeeze around 7 more hp from the TSX cams! The only major difference between the cars(besides the cams, of course) were that the TSX cams were paired with a Full Race exhaust and the DC 2.2s were paired with a K-Tuned 3" exhaust. Is the Full Race exhaust just waaaaaaaaaay better than the K-tuned exhaust, or what? Should I not waste $900 and just install the TSX cams I already have? Since this is for my daily driver, are the TSX cams more "streetable" than the 2.2s? Any input you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
I have 8gen si and my mods only skunk2 alpha headers and skunk2 catback and 3.5 Inc cai so I have flash pro what kind based map should I ran until I get etune
That is so low for a fbo 8th gen especially tuned e85. Have a 9th gen si with almost the same setup, rbc intake stock, skunk2 cai, 72mm tb ktuned, sk2dp, 3inch n1 catback, rr mounts, stock fuel pump, stock injectors, stock fuel rail. Made around 220 to 225 whp it was hot asf when i got tuned. So if i go e85 i can easily go to 230 to 240.
This Si (which is my car) was tuned with 93 octane and he did tune it a bit conservative, nothing crazy ... this was on a mustang dyno ... I’m sure if I was tuned on a dynapack, it would be closer to 230whp (they’re a bit more lenient lol)
just curious, noob question the fan in front of the car doesn't play a role in dyno tuning? atleast the etune ur driving in normal conditions... or im wrong?
The fan doesnt move enough air to be of any benefit. Normal driving moves a lot more air then the fan. There really are no "normal" conditions tho, weather changes all the time through the seasons. The goal while dyno tuning is to maintain consistent operating temps so that the tuning is all done with no ECU adjustments/corrections due to temp fluctuations so that the power changes we are seeing in the graphs are only due to the changes in the ecu settings and not due to external factors such as temp changes
I do lots of etuning for guys all around the world - Send me an email, i would be happy to discuss - If there is a local to you dyno that you can rent i can remote dyno tune it for you - My email is nick@tuningbynick.com
I mention what i used in the video at the end - Please keep in mind tho, every car is different tho, what worked for this car may not work well for another car
Awesome dude! Very rare a tuner gives an in depth look of his tuning look like this. My fg2 has basically same setup except I run HR 3.5" cai.
I am always happy to share this kind of info, the only hard part is figuring out a way to sharing isnt to boring
Nick did a great job tuning the car. It makes power all the way to redline.

Got exactly the same setup lol I might have to try this as well cuz my shit is one street tuned
there is ways to tuning cam angles on the street. adopting someone else cam table might not work for you.

Jonathan Chung I do admit the RRC oil pump makes the car feel a bit more “raw” but in a good way....it should’ve been like this from the factory!
Love your work....
Awesome 👏🏼 thanks for sharing!!
Very informative dyno! Hoping some k24jdm motor with 50vtc run in the future.

Niceee... question.. i should be ok putting the k20a RRC (ctr) crank pulley on my k24a im putting together?
That wouldn’t hurt! Just gotta make sure you have the right length accessory belt...which car is the K24a going into?
I have a stock z3 and I want to put on the rrc crank pulley. What size accessory belt should I use ?

Nick I really enjoy you videos, great job, will haltech elite 2500 would be a better ecu?
Haltech is a great ecu. But it’s overkill for most cars
I have 8gen si and my mods only skunk2 alpha headers and skunk2 catback and 3.5 Inc cai so I have flash pro what kind based map should I ran until I get etune
You can use the CAI MAP or the Stock MAP. As long as you use the MAP Tune instead of the MAF you should be good with the 3.5inch intake.
But I wouldn’t suggest to run a base map for a long time.
There’s a big difference when it has jdm k24a block with the k20z3 head 194 of torque and 238 hp full bolt ons
should be higher than that in the hp
so weird that I literally have a less in my set up and mine makes 232 wheel
