MergingMoon are an amazing band! They've been around for quite a long time but have also been on hiatus for a few years and only somewhat recently became more active again. The heart of the band is bassist/singer/songwriter/audio engineer Tatsuya who became a pro audio engineer later and because of that didn't have much time for a band of his own. The lead vocalist is Yu "U" Umehara, one of my favourite extreme vocalists ever! She's just insane. I mean: there's clips of her covering Slaughter to Prevail songs.... Yu used to also be in another band called Devil Within while being away from MergingMoon for a few years. you can check out their music video for "Flames of the End". Yu is quite active on social media, posting clips of her practicing and covering various songs and MergingMoon have now reformed fromt he ashes and are actually playing shows again :)
Yu Umehara the female vocalist is one of the craziest harsh vocalists from Japan. She has one of the cutest clean voice, so soft, but when the harsh vocals kick in... so brutal!! She has a TH-cam channel where she does vocal covers almost everyday. She's so frikkin' awesome!!
Sunday 25th August 2024 here in Tokyo and I just got back from seeing MergingMoon live in Kichijoji. They are my favourite band, musically so heavy and Yu Umehara has the best range of any vocalist I have ever seen...I suggest you watch Kokeshi with the song Womb Sea another heavy female fronted band with amazing vocals.
I am glad you guys finally found this one. I remember being blown away after seeing them on Bourdain. Yu Umehara is hands down the best female harsh vocalist in the world. You have to check out her videos she does here on YT

I wasn’t in this video, but I’m exhausted! Where they sang, it was pretty. This little gal has to have a sore throat from going high to low to normal voice and back. Holy crap! The drummer is phenomenal. They sound like a good, cohesive band. Wow!! 🎶 Cyd
