I never thought I'd hear someone play that close to the original. And what's more incredible to me is how Brian created those pieces, such a unique mind.
It's hard to believe that Brian May's actual Red Special guitar will be turning 55 this coming year. Nice job on playing as well as your custom made Red Special.
Listening with my eyes closed I’ve a big smile on my face! Hats off to you for nailing Brian’s tone and superb licks! I’m a Queen fan since 1979 so Brians guitar sound makes up part of my brain tissue at this stage! Great entertainment indeed! I’d love to see how Brian would react to this video! I can’t believe it’s not Brian playing!
You shoul have won the Brian May wannabe contest. You nailed every detail, have that feeling, like noone else except Brian. The guitar itself looks perfect.
The challenge is for people to start making music with instruments like this which would come along way towards making Freddie Mercury proud, without just being another cover band.
This guy obviously plays fantastically, the guitarist sounds like the original, and yes you have to hand it to Brian May to come up with such original sounds from his guitar, the guy is obviously a Real Genius when it comes to playing the guitar. Not so much of a genius when it comes to the rest of the universe, but when it comes to playing the guitar and composing music for the guitar, the guy is a genius. I'm sure you guys know that Brian and his dad actually made the original red special guitar out of old pieces of scrap wood, and a knitting needle and some other various bits laying around. That blows me away, a dad and his son making a guitar that the son takes and becomes a rockstar with, with a totally unique sound just blows me away.
I totally agree that Brian May is a musical genius, but if you're saying that Brian May isn't a true genius, you'd be mistaken. Did you know that as well as his father Howard being an electronics engineer and a draughtsman for the Ministry of Aviation, Brian is himself a PhD in astrophysics from the Royal College London? The man is incredibly impressive.

Honestly, I used to be the same. Stick with something similar to a sixpence, the glide and stroke over the strings is good stuff whilst still being roughly pic size. The serrated edges do some good things, I've taken to using sixpences for lighter stuff with my ibanez!
6 pence coins don't have rounded edges, it has a serrated edge, which is the very reason why he uses them, to get that scratching sound and also because regular picks are too flimsy

The coin pick he's using is called a sixpence. They sell them on ebay cheap. Brian May prefers a 1947 sixpence, maybe its because of the silver content, or the year of his birth which is 1947.
