Funnily enough, I solo'd a skeleton fleet for the first time ever a couple of hours ago. First time taking down a skelly gally solo too. Pretty pleased with that!
I struggled with skelly galleons for a while when I first started. But the more experienced I got I learned how to prioritize shooting then repairing and just doing all the things at once. Now they're pretty easy for me solo. Keep at it and before long you won't even raise your heart rate when facing em.
I did the fleet of fortune the other day and then after I had everything repaired and all was over and the Chest of Fortune was on my boat...one last random skele ship surfaced that was the rigging ball type and barrel ball type. I had a storage crate for supplies but I kept getting sails up or my anchor dropped and I couldn't move, couldn't defend just kept getting screwed over and they actually sunk me lol I ended up burying the Chest of Fortune on a nearby island, going back to my sloop and harpoon saved and dove for all the sinking treasure to turn in for what felt like full value...I didn't have an emissary since I didn't think I'd do it to begin with. Was fun though, so rough but fun.
they used to be so hard for me at first solo, but after learning they can’t bail water and to prioritize cannons over repairs they’re mostly free loot now.
@@MatthewRentfro Same, I've put in a fair bit of practice now and gotten pretty comfortable with them. I think the main problem I was having before was I'd spend time doing buckets and repairs long before I actually needed to, whereas now I'll aim for the cannons so they can't hit me in the first place
flameheart, they go in a fairly predictable circle, turn perpendicular to the circle and stop and enjoy some target practice. Not taking damage is your friend
Apologies if someone else already commented this but for skelly fleets I tend to just raise my sail like 90% of the way. That helps keep your cannon aim steadier since the waves won't affect you as much. since the skele ships generally keep in a parallel I can cannon them easily

Thanks for the vid man. I'd love to play with other people but it's kind of embarrassing at this point that I've been playing for like 300 hours and just now learned what that red tornado is.
I'm part of the playstation family who eagerly waited for this game and I have been struggling solo. I have friends but our schedules do not align and I don't really have anyone to play with and after watching this video, I'm gonna try these techniques.
I'm in the same boat, er I mean same situation. The game is enjoyable but I thought the outposts would be more lively. I'm just doing safer seas to get used to the controls and build enough gold up to get my own sloop. Yeah, high seas pays more but more risk too.
@@Senan_is_cool24 i hear you, prob best for those tall tales. I (PS5 player) haven't played in weeks due to the MS game link thing going unlinked on me out of the blue. Yeah Ghost Fleet is easy too, but as the ships are always circling the island, it feels like it takes so much longer than Skeleton Fleet, so i always end up doing the latter
another good thing is do the ashen winds or duel with ashen lord as its called and take the ashen winds skull and use it on waves at fotd and you can thank me later you will be on boss in no time other ships wont even get time to see you on map before you complete it too if you use the kegs on boss

I personally feel like the ghost fleet is easier than the skeleton fleet, especially with scaling. As a solo, it’s good for practice like he says, and it’s easier to understand. Skeleton fleets are more messy to me
ashen lord - kill him as close to your boat as possible without him meatballing it for easy harpooning, killing under that arch is gonna spawn your loot up on top of the mountain
I think they need to replace mermaids with an on screen prompt to return back to ship, it would make the game more fun for the newer player's as experienced player's instantly know to look for merms when doing world events etc..
That's literally a core thing for the game Merms are ment to give away a position And for a semi realistic game like sea of thieves it makes no sense It would also screw up the lore
fleet - park up near sea dogs, flat water is gonna make your cannons land, rocks will protect you and ruin the ai pathing. get good at one balling their cannoneers
Ever since season 9 and now 10, rare made the world events too 'solo-friendly'. I think the kicker was the adaptive difficulty cos now i can steamroll any event in less than 5 minutes. Before all that, it took me nearly an hour to clear a FoF. They should've just left the world events alone.
Yes Cannons can be heard from a very far distance, basically alerting all ships within range that you are fighting the Boss. I usually don't prefer cannons for the boss unless you don't mind Visitors or you're sure the horizon is clear .

Awesome hearing about hunt showdown. My buddy who I sloop with play that too. Definitely subbing now.

i dont even bother trying world events anymore since usually on any given server im almost always the only solo player.
As a new player the npcs arent the hard part its the fighting other players
You don't even have to crash into a skelly fort. You can just lunge onto the island and the cannon fire will stop right then and there!

Skeleton ships are bugged right now. The skeletons don't repair. You can sink a skeletons galleon with 1 cannonball this season
Idk. Lol. We had a skeleton ship it would not sink. 50 cannonballs with us boarding. It was crazy wired 🍻
Why would you move to another fort because it's bugged instead of just resetting it (by dying and coming back)?
