One advice: I've start to learn Kor 5 dd ago, after whatched "alchemy of souls", maybe that kdrama is in fantastic and storical ambient, so could be not best good for learn modern linguage? I never whacted Kdrama (i' not so romantic or so I was think) can you advice what find for learn better (dialogue and common event of life). for learn english (I'm basic / elementary) I've found many series ;-)
think I need much time for tale a elementary level (I'm not so more youngher :-))
      P.S.
      I lv Alchemy :-)

I discovered K-drama last year when I turned 60, and started to learn it last month. The sound of Korean reminds me of my mother's native tongue - Norwegian, which is also very musical. I think that is why I decided to learn. Thank you for you videos!

Step 4a: Review the words and phrases by speaking them out loud. Studies show that speaking vocab out loud helps retain as it uses not only mental repetition but oral and auditory memory.

Happy new year! Thanks for sharing these tips... I've been doing something similar to this for almost a year now. There is so much to say about this like watching them on a desktop where a pause is easy, and flipping the subtitles to write down the word (or sentence) for the first time. Or to have a digital notepad to use to practice typing skills. One thing I suspect that will be different is that sometimes they will say a word that I already know, but it happens so fast (especially with numbers) that I have to switch to Korean subtitles and play at half speed, and play the line about 10 times to recognize how it's said. This is a bit harder for us because we have to listen to the stem word that is buried in particles and conjugations. (not as much so for English). Finally there are some lines that I've written down to memorize and read back to help with pronunciation (almost acting out the lines for tone too). For these I use mirinae and naver to breakdown the grammar and fully understand the sentences until they sink in. That said, I have not completely rewatched an old drama in Korean subtitles, I started to do this but there are so many good new ones out that I don't want to miss the new stuff when it comes!

That's pretty good advice Hailey. But wow, step 3 is hard. I worry that even rewatching K dremas I know well with Korean subtitles will be difficult. But maybe I'll try it. Or maybe I should just practice all the vocabulary I already have now a ton. I bet you were way better at practicing English than I was at practicing Korean!

I will definitely add Kdrama learning to my studies soon. I have yet to watch Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and it might be a good drama to use for study. I liked Park Eun-Bin in The King's Affection. I was thinking about getting "LingoPie" possible next month, and it would go great with your suggestions. 감사합니다.👍

I decided to learn Korean about a week ago. I have been watching K-dramas for around a year almost exclusively and listening to K-pop since the Wonder Girls era and, picked up on certain words and phrases along the way. The funny thing is that I learned Hangul in my sleep last Saturday, I had installed a Hangul desktop background on my monitor showing all the consonants and vowels and gazed at it from time to time, woke up Sunday morning having dreamt about it and realised I understood the basics. Now when I look at words and short phrases in Hangul I can translate them into a Romanized version that shows me how they should sound, and I have a good idea about syllable structure. So far I can translate English versions of Korean singer/actor names into Hangul, not bad as it's only been a week.

Hi! Just a beginner and wanted to thank you for the opportunity to join your class.
I saw there's four steps of learning Korean. 1. Alphabet 2. Vocabulary 3. Sentences and 4. Essay read. I wonder about Grammar. What about articles and past/future sentences? I know English has just the "The". Is this similar? I am at the Alphabet step, so sorry for asking advanced questions.
Keep up the awesome unique work!
