Orange is actually not a desert thing. I live in Germany and we have quite a lot of red and orange stone and red and orange stone castles here ;-) Still a nice video!
Dude, this game looks SO cool. I knew there was a newer Conan game but I didn't know it was like this! And Shad & Oz, those structures you guys are building look freaking amazing. I always have trouble taking a concept I have that I like and turning it into an actual physical structure. I'm much better at the theory than the actual building process. Excellent work, guys!

I don't have the time to play this type of game on a PVP server but yours looks great with all the different castles, I really like the larger, open palisade type that you showed with the spread out buildings so I suspect even if I was able to join I wouldn't be doing very well! Keep up the videos, I will enjoy the occasional glimpse into this world.
Wow! That was EPIC! I LOVED that thing at the end - Crom vs. Ymir - watching two gods from classical mythology duke it out! It was totally awesome when Ymir assumed his Frost Giant king form, very true to the mythology, as well! Well done, Shad! Bringing an authentic Conan conflict to life with this wonderful MMORPG!
My personal favourite has to be Rollo's "hunting lodge" at 13:30, although the "lava" one was pretty nice as well. If I ever built something in this game I would go for more of a old Norse longhouse or a Stave Church, might be because I am Swedish :-)

I recorded 3 tours of my Tower Vangirth, inspired by Castle Vanburg. However I took a 2 day break and came back to record a 4th tour because I wasn't happe with the previous 3, just to discover that I had been kicked out of the clan, lost everything and the clan had been renamed to the name of another clan on the server. Some inside job was pulled and the clan lost everything. 2 hours after I reported this to our admin in our discord group my beautiful tower was demolished. I guess I'll upload one of the 3 tours in loving memory of my tower and start on Shad's server.
The admin finally logged on for the first time in a while and gave us the info. He KICKED everyone from the clan and joined a lower level player's clan to help him and give him access to lots of stuff. He did not think straight and it lead to the guy murdering and stealing from everyone. He even destroyed some of our bases for the lolz. He was told to invite the 3 of us and agreed to, but that was a lie. wtf admin.
Haha. I played a bit on the Shad server and witnessed Crom killing 2 people. Sadly the server gives me bluescreens of death after playing for about 5 minutes, so I cannot stay on that server. It's likely some issue with my hardrive so maybe I'll be back when my win10 installation is complete.

shad, you are a legend. i have been saying for some time now that bombs need to be REMOVED from this game! not only are they ridiculous, stupid, and very out of place in a conan setting, but they are just too damn strong. these bombs (combined with the climbing but thats another issue) are just major deterrents when people want to actually take advantage of this great building system and construct an impressive fortification. it also renders the point of building a highly defensible structure on a steep and narrow cliff COMPLETELY USELESS when you can just blow the walls away or climb right over them! id love to see the devs make player built structures not only unable to be climbed but also nearly immune to damage EXCEPT for doors and gate ways. introduce battering rams to this game. force players to have to attack the main gate! i realize that someone can just build a structure that has no doors and just an elevator, but im sure we can figure out a way to make this work. i think more realistic sieges of people bases would not only force them to adopt a more real world castle design when building but would add to the immersion and if properly built would make it extremely difficult to raid a base, AS IT SHOULD BE! raiding another players well constructed base should be one of the hardest things to do in the game and should require planning, strategy and team work
Turns out, including the invention (or a facsimile thereof) that rendered castles obsolete in a game about castle building (partly) may not have been the wisest choice. So I agree completely. +Points for my medieval tech immersion. :) I hope to see some epic treb sieges (which would be irrelevant in the explosives meta).

My reasoning is based on the fact that the characters I make in game are the characters I'm gonna spend the next 20, or 40, or 200+ hours in game, looking at. I'd much rather spend those many, many hours looking at a good looking female character, rather than big-ol' Muscles Marinara's square ass, for those next few-hundred hours 😂 But to each their own. Really, there are two types of gamers- those who think of their character as themselves/a version of themselves who they're actually playing AS (think "this is me,") and gamers who think of their character as a completely separate entity from themselves who they're merely CONTROLLING (think "this is my character,") if that makes sense.
I am a knew subscriber who actually found this channel in the reverse order of its purpose. I found and read your book before watching your channel let alone subscribing. I am posting this at the first and last Castle review videos in hopes that you might notice it. I was hoping you could discuss your thoughts on the castle construction, magical crafting, and medieval warfare involving magic which is presented in the Spellmonger series written by Terry Mancour (kindle unlimited). I really enjoy the series but I also freely admit to being completely ignorant of the proper ways things were done/made in medieval times (like leather armor vs gambeson and the size of axe heads). Therefore, I would really love and appreciate hearing the opinion of a leader in the field like yourself.
If I recall correctly the mod with machiculations does not lag from glass, it's from the tier 4 gold build blocks, but there is a mod that alters those and takes away like 90% of the shineyness from them so you don't need a ray tracing CPU and GPU just to run the mod with those blocks. And I think the mod also only allows it to calculate what is being seen instead of all 6 sides of every single gold block so all the stuff inside your three meter thick wall does not get run by graphics just the two sides and the top ;~) I tried it and it made ALL the blocks in the game load a ton smoother and the tier 4 gold ones are still better looking and shineyer gold than any other build set, they are just toned down to where they do not have ten times light reflect and 8k mirror surface on each side of each block and an inner light that makes more glow than simply multiplying the relfectiveness. I'm serious when I say it takes a max ray tracing CPU like the and one with the 3d v-ram cache and a ray tracing specialists hou that is the top one so eather the newest 4090 or whatever is closest to it that is the best at Ray tracing. Then toss on at least 64 gigs of super fast ram. Your still gonna lag but you might be able to win a PVP fight standing next to the golden building roflmeow
This video just gave me the inspiration to build a throne of Crom at the highest peak I can find. That’s just perfect! Also need to get whatever mod you’re using to make the character look beefier. Cimmerians and Nords look to puny in exiles 💪🏻
I'm surprised to hear that foundations cause server lag. I would have thought that it would actually cause more lag to use more pieces to create outer walls, inner walls and ceilings. Makes me wonder what's so special about foundations?

I'm so very tempted to join this server now... I love to build, and I got really inspired after watching some of your castle review videos a while ago. Spent a couple of weeks on my friend's server, building up a castle with a surrounding town while trying to keep what I learned from those in mind. Unfortunately it's basically just me playing there, so I have nobody to show it to. Oh, and I really like the Aquilonian style building made by admin... Oz? Is that how you spell it? It looks very grand and majestic.
That map room looks like the Resurrection church in Plyos-na-Volge (a little town on Volga River with lots of nice historical buildings). It has a long wooden staircase leading up the hill the church stands on. There's other cooler wooden churches in Russia, obviously, but I've actually walked that staircase and... it's long xD

i have been saying for some time now that bombs need to be REMOVED from this game! not only are they ridiculous, stupid, and very out of place in a conan setting, but they are just too damn strong. these bombs (combined with the climbing but thats another issue) are just major deterrents when people want to actually take advantage of this great building system and construct an impressive fortification. it also renders the point of building a highly defensible structure on a steep and narrow cliff COMPLETELY USELESS when you can just blow the walls away or climb right over them! id love to see the devs make player built structures not only unable to be climbed but also nearly immune to damage EXCEPT for doors and gate ways. introduce battering rams to this game. force players to have to attack the main gate! i realize that someone can just build a structure that has no doors and just an elevator, but im sure we can figure out a way to make this work. i think more realistic sieges of people bases would not only force them to adopt a more real world castle design when building but would add to the immersion and if properly built would make it extremely difficult to raid a base, AS IT SHOULD BE! raiding another players well constructed base should be one of the hardest things to do in the game and should require planning, strategy and team work
Turns out, including the invention (or a facsimile thereof) that rendered castles obsolete in a game about castle building (partly) may not have been the wisest choice. So I agree completely. +Points for my medieval tech immersion. :) I hope to see some epic treb sieges (which would be irrelevant in the explosives meta).
@@TealWolf26 yeah i cant stand the build meta on regular pvp servers: "find a hidden spot to build cube. throw all your stuff inside cube. go grief players then run back to your cube". then if you do build something impressive anyway, everyone will just go out of their way to wreck it like a bratty child kicking over a lego castle. no building nice things on regular/official pvp servers it seems

Lmao. No way! I, too, play as women in almost every game with a character creation option. My reasoning is based on the fact that the characters I make in game are the characters I'm gonna spend the next 20, or 40, or 200+ hours in game, looking at. I'd much rather spend those many, many hours looking at a good looking female character, rather than big-ol' Muscles Marinara's square ass, for those next few-hundred hours 😂
But to each their own. Really, there are two types of gamers- those who think of their character as themselves/a version of themselves who they're actually playing AS (think "this is me,") and gamers who think of their character as a completely separate entity from themselves who they're merely CONTROLLING (think "this is my character,") if that makes sense.
Yep, that's why I play male characters. Although it gets weird going by a male name on discord...

I am a knew subscriber who actually found this channel in the reverse order of its purpose. I found and read your book before watching your channel let alone subscribing. I am posting this at the first and last Castle review videos in hopes that you might notice it. I was hoping you could discuss your thoughts on the castle construction, magical crafting, and medieval warfare involving magic which is presented in the Spellmonger series written by Terry Mancour (kindle unlimited). I really enjoy the series but I also freely admit to being completely ignorant of the proper ways things were done/made in medieval times (like leather armor vs gambeson and the size of axe heads). Therefore, I would really love and appreciate hearing the opinion of a leader in the field like yourself.

If I recall correctly the mod with machiculations does not lag from glass, it's from the tier 4 gold build blocks, but there is a mod that alters those and takes away like 90% of the shineyness from them so you don't need a ray tracing CPU and GPU just to run the mod with those blocks. And I think the mod also only allows it to calculate what is being seen instead of all 6 sides of every single gold block so all the stuff inside your three meter thick wall does not get run by graphics just the two sides and the top ;~) I tried it and it made ALL the blocks in the game load a ton smoother and the tier 4 gold ones are still better looking and shineyer gold than any other build set, they are just toned down to where they do not have ten times light reflect and 8k mirror surface on each side of each block and an inner light that makes more glow than simply multiplying the relfectiveness. I'm serious when I say it takes a max ray tracing CPU like the and one with the 3d v-ram cache and a ray tracing specialists hou that is the top one so eather the newest 4090 or whatever is closest to it that is the best at Ray tracing. Then toss on at least 64 gigs of super fast ram. Your still gonna lag but you might be able to win a PVP fight standing next to the golden building roflmeow

This video just gave me the inspiration to build a throne of Crom at the highest peak I can find. That’s just perfect! Also need to get whatever mod you’re using to make the character look beefier. Cimmerians and Nords look to puny in exiles 💪🏻

I'm surprised to hear that foundations cause server lag. I would have thought that it would actually cause more lag to use more pieces to create outer walls, inner walls and ceilings. Makes me wonder what's so special about foundations?

I'm so very tempted to join this server now... I love to build, and I got really inspired after watching some of your castle review videos a while ago. Spent a couple of weeks on my friend's server, building up a castle with a surrounding town while trying to keep what I learned from those in mind. Unfortunately it's basically just me playing there, so I have nobody to show it to.
Oh, and I really like the Aquilonian style building made by admin... Oz? Is that how you spell it? It looks very grand and majestic.

That map room looks like the Resurrection church in Plyos-na-Volge (a little town on Volga River with lots of nice historical buildings). It has a long wooden staircase leading up the hill the church stands on. There's other cooler wooden churches in Russia, obviously, but I've actually walked that staircase and... it's long xD

I kinda like the bright orange tower in the Northern biome. It inspires interesting lore ideas, like it's the "shining gold spire of the " or whatever. Let 'em build what they wanna build eh? ;)
