Ruger Marlin 1895 Trapper 45-70 INACCURATE?! (How to make it more accurate)

  • In this video I’ll show you an easy way to make your Ruger Marlin 1895 Trapper 45-70 easier to shoot more accurately.
    By replacing the extra large aperture that came with the rifle with a smaller aperture from Skinner Sights, you should be able to shoot it more accurately from the bench as well as while hunting.
    Thanks and Happy Hunting!

    Ghost ring sights are not meant to print small groups on known distance target ranges. They are meant to provide the best sight picture for real world conditions at unknown ranges, allowing more light and a better view of the target. If you’re having using Ghost ring sights, I highly recommend looking up the countless videos made by BlokeontheRange and others on British army training around ghost ring aperture sights.
    To sum up:
    If you want to print small groups on paper. Tiny aperture sights are nice but scopes are better and why would you use a lever action for precision work when there are countless bolt action precision rifles that are less expensive than a Ruger Marlin. If you want a light handy rifle that has acceptable (2-4” groups at 150 with irons and 1-3” groups with a good scope) accuracy for real world field conditions with the power to drop dangerous predators in 1-2 shots the Ruger Marlin cannot be beat but I’d leave the ghost ring sights alone.

    Not a target gun, it's a hunting gun and the wide open rear peep allows you see the game well, even in low light. As long as the front is in the middle, it still a very accurate system. If you wanted a target gun, that is what you should have bought.

    • @masonleather
      @masonleather  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll use it how I want. And as long as you can still see through it a smaller peep makes it more capably accurate, 100% every time. This whole “ghost rings are accurate sights” is ludicrous, if so why do silhouette shooters use micro peeps.

    • @dj3114
      @dj3114 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@masonleather You're right, it's your gun and you can use it as you like, but you can't make up reasoning. Silhouette shooters are target shooters - and those that use 45-70s (6-800 yds) for that purpose use small peeps, they also use shooting sticks. A lever action guide gun is a hunting rifle regardless of what you want it to be. Use it for a target gun if you want, but that's not it's design. Admittedly, it's a nice gun, I'll sure give you that.
