Moved to the States in ‘96 … grew up in Calgary. Loved LOVED and still love the Hip. The documentary brought back so many good memories. Gives me the feels - Grace, Too still gives me body chills. ❤
I'm from Kingston, they are our hometown boys!!!I...40 yrs of the Hip!!! The best Canadian Icons in our country.....They made a big difference!!! Watch them and then you will know why they are awesome!!!
Huge Hip fan from the states here (I grew up in NY State, went to college in Rochester). My best friend and I followed them since we first heard Courage on the local rock station. They were kinda like our little secret band we loved, though they were definite pockets of fans in the states. Regrettably only saw them in a small bar in NJ in 96, and in larger theater a few years later. I grew up with them, to me there's no better lyricist or front man than Gord. Thanks for making this, really looking forward to the doc.

Loved the Hip. Went to the shows in the early 90's. Was in college in London Ont, and they were fellow students (yes, Canadians) who hated The Tragically Hip. I'd always ask, "So ...what DO you like?" The answers were classic rock from decades before or Nirvana, U2 or R.E.M. Good stuff, but lyrically and musically, the Hip were just better. Funny enough, I went to school in 1995 in NYC, and the Hip playing at SNL was like Canada was following me. The documentary was well made. The bit about Midnight Oil going full guns was 100% accurate, I was there and Midnight Oil wanted to outplay the Hip by cranking up the volume to jet engine level. Good try but the Hip had just song after song that awed. Comedian Bruce McCulloch in the documentary was chef kiss, was a fan of KITH and was lucky enough to see one taping in Toronto. Great times, amazing music.
I love the Hip. It was great, then TURDeau showed up on my screen and it was instant cringe. I don't know why he was in it, all of Canada hates him. Otherwise, I enjoyed it😊
Speak for yourself. Did you even listen to what he said? He knew Gord before he became PM and was a friend. Do you think PP would ever have been a friend of the Hip? Not a chance.
@GordonWolters yes I'm very aware of Gord's relationship with Trudeau, yes they were friends. Another reason I sometimes wish Gord was still around today. I often think to myself, ' Gord and Jack (Layton) are rolling in their graves right now. '
