  • This trench was ripped using the Hitch Mounted Ripper made by Titan Attachments. It is made to fit a 2" receiver which I have attached to the sleeve hitch on a 1995 Craftsman GT 6000 garden tractor. The sleeve hitch with actuator is made by Johnny Products.

The trench is 40 feet long from my house to a shed in order to run an underground electric cable to bring power to the shed.

What is your experience using implements with a sleeve hitch on a garden tractor?

All in all good for what it is. For light work it has worked great at home and on a job or two. The Brinley box blade has been great! I used it to help spread 6 tons of rock, also to level out Dirt. There are times that the smaller garden tractor is just to small. But for the most part in the right circumstances it has been incredible!

If you have a hood it should be on. It’s crucial in supplying air to cool the engine. Creates a vacuum of air that comes through the top and exits the bottom. I’m sure you probably knew that but just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. Great video though thanks for sharing😀

Thanks for the feedback about the hood. It needs a new mounting bracket attached to keep it on when I'm using it. I'll get to that one of these days.

Electrical lines should be at least 18” deep, and when covering them, you should cover about halfway, then lay yellow caution tape the length of the trench, then finish covering completely.

I agree is should be deeper but decided to go with the depth I installed the wire inside a conduit. I have marked the two ends of the run with yellow flagging tape. Good idea about putting the yellow caution tape buried the length of the trench.

I wonder if you could use that as a pipe puller as you trench for an irrigation system?

Way to go. I like the set up and plan to rip some more trenches to lay PVC water pipes for irrigation.

How many hp.? Do you have fluid in tires? Looks like it does a fantastic job with the ripper. Just picked up a JD 445. Need to p/u a ripper, got a 2” receiver in the box ready to add on. Good to see a small tractor do the job there with ease. Even big tractors hit snags, just deal with it, right.
Hope to see more tractor work with your tractor.

It’s 18 HP. Yes fluid in the rear tires. I’d also like to add wheel weights sometime in the future.

It’s DC powered by the garden tractor battery.

What hydraulic system do you have on the tractor? Is it aftermarket?

It's not my video, but I suspect it is the universal Johnny Products sleeve hitch, which is motorized, www.johnnyproducts.com/J_Bucket_HTMs/UNI_Sleeve_Hitch.htm . If your tractor already has a sleeve hitch, they do also make an electric actuator upgrade, compatible with certain manual sleeve hitches, johnnyproducts.com/craftsman_gt_type_rear_electric.htm

What give you the down force … looks like 2’shocks ? Where did you get those ?

    • @JohnMarionDotCom
      @JohnMarionDotCom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

The sleeve hitch with actuator lowers the ripper down to the ground and can actually lift the back end of the tractor off the ground. I lower it to put pressure with the weight of the tractor and then move forward to begin scraping into the ground. The sleeve hitch is made by Johnny Products.

I can't take seriously anyone who puts R-1s on the front of a two wheel drive tractor.
