Wow! 3 gbps! Wow! I like where we’re going with this whole internet thing!! Man, I also remember 14.4 kbps modem and my T1 line which I thought was the fastest internet I’d ever need, and I’m only 38. We’ve come a long way.

at first I didn't like the PDU on the front of the rack. When I received my PDU I tried it on the back of the rack and then moved mine to the front also. So much easier on the front. Nice video

Looks great! Move your NVR from the bottom of the rack higher up, IF you are in the basement it's good to consider flooding, a water pipe/main break or appliance fail etc
Very good point I keep ups at bottom primarily but if it flooded the whole rack like ain’t gonna make it 🥹
@@kristopherleslie8343 I had to help twice clean up basement server room flooding ... problematic is UPS in the bottom - even IF you cut power to that room inside the UPS you still have at least 120 V, possibly going into the water ... and not easy to shut down, except a battery disconnect (switch or cable)

@@kristopherleslie8343 you wish - at least then you know where to look .... worse is you know for sure there is power somewhere but in the dark with water everywhere you can't find the wires to pull ... best is really keep the UPS in a separate room (battery fire/smoke) or high up so it won't be in the water. Put an old server down low that's a few $ to replace if you don't have the rackspace

Great setup, does your home have seperate power-circuits (fase A and B for example) ? Or how is the RPS powered? This because I use a UPS in our datacenter to power hardware through different power circuits what not many homes have
Nice you got symmetrical speeds. The fastest we have here 1 gig down and 40 megs up. Supposedly symmetrical speeds are coming in the next year but I will believe when I see it. Thanks for sharing Cody.

You should get a sfp+ GPON from your ISP then you can run Fiber directly into your UDM Pro. Also you can get keystone inserts for the fiber it looks so clean.
He is in Canada with Bell. They don't offer that. On their service now, you need to use HH4000 Modem that do not even have a removable SFP+.

Any suggestions on what you have on/off on your UDM to get your ISP speeds ? I have 1gig/1gig and I get that if I use the Frontier router, but when I put in the UDM I get about 300-380 / 900. The upload is fine , but the download can't seem to get over 400. Thought I have turned everyone on / off trying to see what was capping it. Smart Queues / threat management, device id, traffic id, swapped cables, etc...
Hi, do you get your service with Bell? If so, I suppose HH4000? do you feed the Rack with the Port1 that is 10G on the HH4000? Do you do PPPoE on the UDMSE or you use Advanced DMZ on the HH4000 to feed the UDMSE? Also, is the UDMP (not SE) is able to use a 10GBps SFP+ or only the UDMSE? (I have the UDMP currently). Planning on getting 3Gbps too from Bell. Currently have 1Gbps with my HH3000 and I do the PPPoE within the UDMP.
Hey Cody, I'm guessing since you're in Canada (Ontario i believe) you're using Bell FTTH @ 3Gbps. Do you have the Home Hub 4000? Are you just connecting an rj45 cable to the HH4K's 10gb ethernet port and then to the WAN2 IN on your UDM SE (using the rj45 SFP+ 10GTek transceiver)? There is SO much confusion about how to get more than 1Gbps on Bell using Ubiquiti equipment that it would be a great video for your fellow canadian viewers! Keep up the good work, hope you can answer :)

He's waiting on his PPPoE credentials from Bell. Only problem is you can't bypass the HH4K since the SFP module is built into it

your PPPoE credentials are your b1 ID and the password that you can update from the user interface of your home hub.
How do you generally run Cat5 from devices that have plugs in the back to the switches in the rack?
What were they thinking putting the plugs in the front of the UDP-Pro. I just don't get it. Instant purchase if it wasn't for that

Hi. Nice speed. My current isp operator is changing and udm pro won't be suffied because figer 10gb/10gb. What unifi product you suggest to use replace udm pro? Or is there any device to fit 10gb speeds from Unifi?
Ok, very nice, I still have two questions, though! =)
1. Did you consider putting an actual UPS into your rack at some point? I mean, the purpose of the RPS is completely defeated if connected to the same power line/breaker than the PDU. I mean, yes, it covers you if your power supply in a component dies... but... never saw that happen tbh. If you consider going high availability and redundancy, a UPS should actually be the first step, not the last, right?
I hope I just didn't watch close enough and you have a UPS behind your rack or something, don't hit me if that is the case! =D
Also, you should connect the PDU to the UPS, NOT the RPS, because obviously you use it for that HA-mode of your internet connection, and secondly the RPS cannot restart shut down devices. So in case of a power outage and one of your devices tumbles, the RPS won't help you, the PDU can. (Actually... do we have information on how the internet connection with HA and two UDMs behaves in case the power goes out or the PDU goes faulty? I hope they did not just replace one single-point-of-failure with another.)
2. Do you think the Unifi devices will be smart enough for a combined power cycle? Let's say one of your switches goes down and you want to reboot it but it won't let you SSH, the sense of a remoteable PDU is for your to log on and power cycle a device. However, if the same switch is connected to the RPS as well, it just won't power-cycle =D From the tests that you have done, do you think the controller will understand to power cycle both power sources for a device, or is there no protocol behind it so the controller basically has no idea what is connected to his RPS?
Very nice. I assume you have Bell and are using the homehub 4000? If so, and understanding that the hh4000 does not have a bridge mode, are you simply connecting the 10gb port on the hh4000 to the udmSE using the 10gb transceiver and then using PPOE or do you use DHCP?
Right now using dhcp figuring with bell to give me the pppoe credentials

Cody nice home network. I have a 2 Gbps provider and I have the same module SFP RJ45 and I can only get 1.5 Gbps I try other Module but it run so hot that I’m afraid the module will burn is almost 180 F when it should maximal 160 F. I try everything to get the full 2 Gbps. If I change the SFP to the SE port 9 instead of port 10 I get a better speed but I want to used the 2.5 Gbps for my USW-Enterprise-8-PoE switch because is across the office. Any suggestion?

What is the rj45 port rated at on your isp ONT. I have att fiber and it has a 5gb rj45 and the 10G ubiquiti sfp but won’t auto negotiate or make a connection if it’s set to 10g. It only connects if I manually set it to 1g
Bell Hub 4000 has 5 x RJ-45 ports, 4 x 1GB + 1 x 10GB. Ubiquiti is about to release a new SPF+ to RJ-45 transceiver that auto-negotiates on the RJ-45 side 1,2.5,5, and 10GB speed while the other side reports to your UDMP/SE 10GB, but it's still in EA. Use instead the MikroTik S+RJ10 to auto-negotiate the 5GB coming from your AT&T modem.
wont the pdu pro limit the speed to the udms to 1 gig? when you convert over to high availability?

do all all of your power at the top of a rack then do devices below that point because less cabling going down as you go further down you just have that I would also just tie up the loose ends the rack should be this powerbar strip at top then your rps next then your switches then your patch pannel then your servers below that then ups at bottom of rack much cleaner because tieing up the cables at top then not having them go to bottom is so clean the only cable there is the UPS much cleaner

Is it not possible to directly but the fiber connection from the bell modem to the udm se, so that you don‘t need the modem in bridge mode with pppoe?
You can do that. I need to run a longer fiber cable and also get the pppoe credentials from my isp

can you do a video setup on connecting your Bell fiber internet connecting to your UDM Pro? I have 3\3 plan however the best i can get is 1.5gb down. Not sure if there is a setting i'm missing. I'm running it on ADMZ from the gigahub modem. i was told to turn off threat management and turn on smart queues. Just wanted to know how you ran yours. Thanks :)

Hi same for me , i don't know how u get 3gb on the udm prose , i've been buying spf+ copper adapter , enabling flow control e.t.c .. as soon as i enable pppoe (instead of dual nattng) speed drops from 3g to 1g ... :( plz help! i have udm pro se "writen dream machine se in front)

If you plan to use the high availability from the PDU Pro won't you only be able to use 1Gbps from your WAN since the ports on the PDU Pro are only gigabit?
Unfortunately yes for my house I’ll probably just use the PDU pro as a PDU. But do the high availability videos when it comes out
My rails are screws, not cage nuts. I want to use a solution like Rack Studs, but can't find an alternative. Can you suggest something?

If they are screws there really isn't anything else you can use unfortunately
@@MactelecomNetworks Not true. Reverse the screws. We had to do that for a client as they change out switches for testing purposes before shipping them off to other locations. We just put the screws in from behind and used 1-inch "stud" extensions from Home Depot.

I constantly see commenters online picking apart setups saying you must have 1U between Ubiquiti gear to deal with heat and airflow. Is that not a factor here?
They get hot yes but I’ve never had an overheating issue. Even in UIs own pictures they are stacked together r
I have several UniFi devices in my office rack with no space between and in a server room that is too hot for the last four years. The UniFi devices have no problems. This is probably just the usual set of clueless trolls. Don't listen to them.

At one site, i covered my cloud key with stick on heat sinks and put a USB fan blowing on it. It's currently running at 27 C. In my rack with a UDMP, then a shelf with a 8-150-POE i put a little fan under it. Both devices stay super cool. Air movement is huge.
@@lawdawg1942 Yeah, the old cloud key was quite bad at handling heat. That is AFAIK true. But the rack equipment doesn't have heat issues.
You're not getting 3Gb through the actual ports, are you? Just the SFP ports? The ports only allow 1Gb.
