I watch all TH-cams concerning disk replacement but I haven't decided whether I was going to do it myself (?).

When your bike gets to say 180,000 klm or more ,do you think that you would go through the process of fitting new piston rings in the engine ?
Learned my lesson years ago , before big trip , NEW chain !!! And sprockets Don't care how good it looks !! Hang on to the old one for when the trip chain wears out !!😎😎😎😎😄😄😄🍺🍺🍺🍺

I did the exact same on my Honda... Disassembled everything, bought new clutch plates. And only swapped the springs. I only had a wear of 0.1mm where something like -0.6 or so was allowed. The metal discs were worn even less, 0.05mm or so.
Pavlin, I must say that your videos are informative, educational and also entertaining. As you said 'preparation is the key'. You are one of those rare persons who lead by example. This series of videos made me rethink all the preparations for my Central Asia trip in 2021. Have a wonderful trip as say Hi to your trusted mechanic. I guess behind every successful ADV rider there is a trusted mechanic!

O and that whistle or wizzing noise is the primary drive to the clutch As it wheres it will have tiny clearance when its cold , should reduce or disappear as clutch gear ring gets warm/hot and expands a littel , the gears are very tight when new and its often hard to remove or unmesh the gear rings , saw yours sliped out easily
If the bike is ridden with respect it will last irrespective of the brand.Your bike is in good nick because of its rider plus yamaha components also help.I don't think you are ever going to need a new bike?You have one already.Thks again.

Very good and yes short fast rides or drives in car are very bad for engine Not suprised with clutch springs and most people over look that problem 1000s ov uses they doo weaken and often cause of clutch slip , i know as my bike has tune and is putting 150 hp to back wheel , its had 2 clutches in 30k miles so now on comp clutch pack and springs , like your garage videos .....

It's hard to judge the "whistling" sound on a video, but since the engine has a lot of straight cut gears, it might just be normal gear meshing noise. I've heard several bikes whose primary drive gears make a similar noise.

Having watched your trips I can with all confidence say that you are a well disciplined rider in terms of safety and planning. We share the same philosophy when it comes to riding, that being planning ahead, sticking diligently to the schellude, but most importantly riding safe not fast. That said, I was wondering, is it possible to safely ride 1000 Km (on European highways) per day for three continuous days in order to reach a desired country?
Yes, it is possible and I have done it many times without even exceed the speed limits. The longest day that I ever had was 1350km from Germany to Bulgaria. I crossed the whole of Europe and even half of Romania before I went to sleep. A few years ago, on the way to Mongolia, I rode in Russia for 8 days 950km per day, without any highways. On the way back it was for 7 days. So yes, it is possible but definitely not a pleasure and I will not recommend it!

The Nordic lands being the goal of the trip, I do not want too many days to be wasted crossing mainland Europe. Much like you did when you "flew" through Poland, Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan on your trip to reach Mongolia. And Pavlin, listen, it's not my intention to fill you with sugarcoated compliments. I truly believe that the advice given by you is straight forward, empirical information which relate to the real, every day circumstances and needs of a real, every day rider. Most other motorcycle channel's advice begins with expensive, unnecessary motorcycle add-ons, and ends with merc T-shirts, transforming every day Joe into a circus rider full of balloons. @@motorcycleadventures hah! Clear answer. Why such a strong preference for lead? I need a New battery and am drawn by the weight and performance characteristics of lithium. In my case it’s also almost the same price as the stock africa twin battery. My main reluctance is that if it does drain on a long ride, it can’t be jumped and is less likely to recover. Is that why you prefer lead as well?
Hi! I have buy my xt660z with 58000km, and I wonder what I have to do or maintenance ? I saw on the manual the wheal bearings but it's ok. I think of new spark, change oil and filter, check the valve and change the chain and sprockets, and do the mod on the cushdrive with a inner tube. What do you think of this ? You're a real XT660Z expert
Not much. Until 4000km from the oil change almost nothing. Than starts slowly and increase when I twist over 110km/h. I would say 200-300 gr for 2000km.

If your first or last clutch plate is offset and you put it in wrong, your clutch will fully engage all at once when you try to gently let it out having the same results as "DUMPING THE CLUTCH". Don't ask how I know. Info in case someone was wondering what would happen.

We will see, I don't have plans to change it for now. The bike will eventually go over this mileage when I comeback.

Yes, also, if for any reason your stator exceeds the necessary power 14.4 v the battery will finish.
Really good quality after 90tsd km... how much oil does the XT need for 1000km?
About 200-300 gr per 5-6000km and only if I ride over 120km/h

You don't need to remove the bascet to replace the clutch plates. We did it just to be sure that everything behind is ok.
