Tailoring is the greatest thing ever. It’s not cheap but it’s magic! I recently took 10 pairs of pants in because I had just had it with the waists being too big. I couldn’t be happier and am kicking myself for not having had it done years ago.
Personally the thrifted pair looks the best in my opinion but I'm also a fellow millennial, so I'm not sure I'd be the person to ask. I tend to stick to skinny jeans because I have the exact same issue Carrie is running into. Being midsized really makes finding a baggier pair of jeans way more complicated than it should be.
as a fellow millenial, just stop. gen z doesn’t care. a bunch of people from every generation have opinion on stuff, there’s no need to make it a battle of the gens
@@user-pk1ix1lb3y I actually don’t care what gen Z thinks about my jeans, nor should anyone, lol. I was just adding my opinion with a little background info. But I would like companies to offer better options for baggier midsized jeans because I’d like to wear them. Some days I’m just not in the mood for skinny jeans. The problem is that there aren’t great options currently otherwise for midsized people.
Okay tbh as a fellow millennial, I had trouble giving up my skinny jeans but now I’m a mom jean/straight leg convert. It’s nice not to wear leg prisons. Skinny jeans (esp when they were high waisted and vintage non-stretch denim) were so tight all the way down and it was ROUGH.
The best pair of ~gen z approved~ jeans I've found for mid/plus size bodies are Madewell's curvy fit vintage jeans. They're literally perfect and DO NOT do the weird crotch fold thing.
YES to the TAILOR VIDEO!! I've been highly curious about the possibilities of going to a tailor and what they can do. So yes please! I would love that video 💜
I would love to see you take clothes to a tailor! I've always wanted to try getting clothes tailored, so that video would be really helpful💗 Thank you for being you!
I feel like I'm the only person who still wears skinny Jean's, but I do not like how I look in non skinny jeans. I will still wear them and idc if it makes me not cool 😂😂
I have the slouchy mom jeans in regular sizing and the extra fabric is apparently "the look". I also bought a normal mom jeans (not slouchy) and the extra fabric thing is basically gone so that might be a solution for you? Love the video, Carrie!!
Carrie the first two pairs of jeans look amazing on you! I think the second pair look like they fit better than the first, but I think they look great!! :)
I think you just don’t like the slouchy look (same), but helpful if you’re doing mom things. Lol I’m a mom of 4 so sometimes comfort and cute are hard to find, that why I love stretchy jeans, I prefer jeggings that are stretchy.
I like the men's best. Mostly because of the way they fit and also because they're more straight leg, whereas the Asos ones are tapered. Would love to see a video on taking them to a tailor.
I think we’re so used to skinny jeans that anything baggier feels weird 😂 it’s taken me months to find a pair on mom jeans that I like and fit, and they still feel weird on!!
Those second pair look AMAZING on you. I love the more baggy jeans look but I just think it doesn’t look good on my body type because I’m very short and have a more “curvy” fit. I definitely think it might be in my head because these look so good!
I’ve seen tons of people from gen z wearing skinny jeans, so don’t buy into it. All those teenagers on tiktok making fun of what jeans someone wears are just judgmental and bored.
Old navy sky high straight leg might be what you're looking for if wanting that Gen z baggy yet waist tight look. (They are some of the highest waist I have found)
Thank you for posting this. As a 31-year-old mid-size Millenial.. I have tried and tried this new jean trend and I cannot seem to find a pair that works well on my body type. Seeing you try these on made me realize I'm not alone. Plus who cares - wear what makes you happy.
I like the ASOS jeans on you!! But I so relate to your struggle. I spent about a year trying to find a wider leg jean and finally decided those jeans just don’t fit my body type, especially mom jeans - can’t do them, baggy in all the wrong places LOL. So I settled on “straight” leg jeans instead of skinny and that’s my thing now.
I looked in the comments to see if baggy crotch was how the look is supposed to be, because if it is, I'm not about that life! But no one really gave any answers hah. I think you pull off this baggy jean look off well. You really do have a cool trendy style! I fall more into the 'grade school teacher from 10 years ago' vibe haha!
Carrie, on that first pair, try doing that hack where you put the jean button behind the nearest belt loop and then button it!!?? I have some balloon pants from YMI i just got that I'm obsessed with, it's a baggy Jean too, maybe try that too
Seeing the size guide say the ASOS jeans are a uk 18 with a 36 waist is mad I have a 36” waist and wear men’s 36” trousers but in women’s it’s like 14-16 for me. so weird.
You should try out the pin on buttons that you can add anywhere on the waist to make it tighter! I got mine on Amazon and I love them because my jeans fit differently as the seasons go on and it helps me get the best waist fit
@@sarahgh9495 I don’t remember the exact ones I bought but if you google “press on buttons for jeans” a whole bunch of options pop up! Mostly just different colors they all look the same quality to me, I got a 12 pack for like $10!
Omg for the first pair of jeans once you said that they basically make their own pair of shorts I was like OMG YOU SHOULD MAKE THEM INTO SHORTS FOR A VIDEO!!
Gurl………… you speak to my Soul!!!! I swear I literally run into the exact same issues. Your the best ! I just don’t understand why companies continue to cut the patterns of their clothing based on only the hour glass shape … meaning they taper from the hip to the waist , but every shape besides the hourglass shape does not fall into the strict guidelines jeans should be cut for every shape what do you taper out of the waist and in a Theigh or remain the same from hip to waist , Waiting for a company to build genes based on each individual sized apple pear where can we get it together
I have the same problem and I think it’s part of having a straight cut rather than curvy body! If it’s good in the leg it’s too tight in the waist and if it fits in the waist the legs are wayyyy too baggy. I honestly have the best luck with the American Eagle 90s boyfriend cut (at least in the shorts), would recommend trying :)
The tailoring is a good idea, it makes a big difference. You should try the various Levi's 501 cuts- they stretch a bit as you wear them and they are comfy. Plus vintage Lucky jeans from the early 2000's are amazing. They introduced the distressed/tear trend.
I just think baggy jeans are going to have bunching and folding and if you don’t like how it looks it is not for you! I wear all: skinny, wide, flare, baggy - LOVE denim
i really like the second pair of asos jeans! looks much better then the first one for sure ☺️ i also like the mens jeans. you look stunning either way 🥰
Carrie, I would love a tailoring video, if you feal safe about it of course. I usually go to a tailor when my jeans are not the perfect fit in my waist
Yes, I’d love to see you take your clothes to a tailor! That’s something I’d love to do but am intimidated because I’ve never done it before. I think I’d feel more confident if I could see what the process was like!
from my experience and closet, THE BEST jeans that follow the trend but that aren’t super baggy, is the American Eagle 90’s style jeans. i’d size up, but they’re amazing! i wear them everyday
I’m 42, and I really prefer my stretchy skinny jeans just because I was a chubby teenager in the 90’s when jeans had no stretch and the discomfort is very vivid in my mind. Stretch denim is so comfy.
I am terrible about buying jeans that are a size too big for me. I just like to be comfortable and then almost always wish I would have gotten a size down.
I'm less than two minutes in and all I keep thinking about is how amazing you look! I love your videos. You've helped me feel more confident no matter what size I am!
Carrie I think the belt looks great with those men’s Levi’s! I got a pair of men’s 560 Levi’s and sewed elastic into the waist to make the waist tighter but it’s still comfy because it stretches!! :)
I feel like we’ve been “over estimating” our size for so long now because we weren’t able to get jeans in our size that were cute. Trendy retailers would have a size 14/XL Jean as like an xxxl I feel like they are finally starting to get with the program but it does make it harder to get the right size now that you got used to those of size probs lol.
Also a tailoring video would be so much fun! You could shorten the hem on those jeans you like and I’m also thinking for those size 12 you like they might be able to move the button over and make them fit your waist because I agree, they do look super cute!
Hi Carrie! Just wanted to give you a jean recommendation (if that’s ok!). I also have a hard time finding good jeans, and since we’re both size 14 and similarly-shaped, I thought these might work for you! I just got them over the weekend and I’m amazed as to how well they fit! I too struggle with sizing because although size 14 is “plus size” I don’t have a curvy body (don’t have a big booty or wide hips) so if I find jeans that fit me at the waist, they’re usually too big everywhere else, but I also can’t size down b/c of the waist 😔 Anyways, these jeans are the: Plus Size Split Hem Straight Leg Jeans from Nasty Gal. I’ve never bought jeans from them before but these were listed as 100% cotton, like vintage jeans, so I thought I’d try them! They’re beautifully fitted at the waist and hips and don’t bunch up in the crotch area!! And then they gradually go down to a bit of a wide leg jean (but not super wide leg). They’re pretty perfect, just about a 1/2inch too long so I have to wear them with heels, but you’re taller than me so I think they’ll fit you even better! Oh and they’re a darker blue than what’s pictured on the model but I think that’s good cus the ones on the model are too light and these are a perfect vintage blue 💗✌🏼
As someone who is short, getting my clothes tailored is such a treat. Designers can't possibly make jeans to fit every body type, but a tailor can make the jeans you buy perfect for you.
Yes, please do a video on going to a tailor for the first time! I've been considering bringing some of my clothes to one (since I tend to buy everything way too oversized), but I would love to get your perspective on it first! Wanna see if it's worth it 😊
My absolute favorite jeans right now are the perfect vintage jeans from Madewell. I’m obsessed with Madewell now they’re my favorite store for jeans due to you. I’ve been a loyal American Eagle wearer for so long! I’m 37 now and I feel like I’m finally wearing jeans with the cut appropriate for age/body.
Yes, take that last, comfortable pair to a tailor - if the waist is taken in perhaps they will be your perfect pair. Love your videos and appreciate how hard you work on them.
So I was shopping online at American Eagle today and saw that they just introduced a stretchy waistband mom jean that has stiff denim in the leg/rest of the jeans. I think that’s genius! I’m ordering a pair now. Sounds like that would make mom jeans so much more comfortable. You should try those and see how you like them! Love you Carrie!
Omg- love tailoring videos. I watch a channel called "made you looks" and she goes to a tailor sometimes, especially for thrifted items. Such good videos. Anyway- I need to stop commenting on this video lol.
I think the American Eagle Relaxed Mom Jeans might work for you!! I love them: pretty baggy, tighter in the waist! I think they’ll look AWESOME on you since everything else already does!
Similar body here 🙋🏻♀️ try American eagle STRETCH mom jeans!!! I actually have to size down on them instead of up (compared to all the traditional stiff mom jeans)! They’re now my go to- so easy to wear, sit in, bend in etc!!
First off, wear what makes you feel good! Second, I've found a tailor to be the best thing if there are alterations you want to make that you don't feel you can do yourself (or don't have the time). Yes! please do a tailor video!
I'm really surprised that you didn't include the Wild Fable mom jeans. Those are my go to jeans now and I only bought them because you love the brand so much. Mine are the ones with holes size 16 and just the right amount of baggy. They are the best.
I would love to see a video where you take your clothes to the tailor!! And I loved the thrifted Levi’s jeans even though they were too big in the waist, they had the perfect straight leg💜

Tailoring is the greatest thing ever. It’s not cheap but it’s magic! I recently took 10 pairs of pants in because I had just had it with the waists being too big. I couldn’t be happier and am kicking myself for not having had it done years ago.
@@pippinhillhaviland1147 If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost?
@@sarahgh9495 it was $25 per pair...I’m sure you could find cheaper though
@@pippinhillhaviland1147 Ok thanks! Well if it's a good quality item that is going to last, I find it's really worth it.
Yes! I looove those jeans.
YES to the TAILOR VIDEO!! I've been highly curious about the possibilities of going to a tailor and what they can do. So yes please! I would love that video 💜
I think you definitely need an inflatable chair or maybe pillow for your 90s office!!
I want one SOOO BAD!!!
Carrie you should try the Zara wide leg jeans and the monki Yoko jeans. they are my favoritesssss
OBSESSED w this video idea.. love you, Carrie!!
Back in the 80s I tailored every pair of my jeans at the waist.
I would love to see you take clothes to a tailor! I've always wanted to try getting clothes tailored, so that video would be really helpful💗
Thank you for being you!
I feel like I'm the only person who still wears skinny Jean's, but I do not like how I look in non skinny jeans. I will still wear them and idc if it makes me not cool 😂😂
Me too! At only 5ft. Tall and 35 years old mom jeans make me look frumpy.
I think wearing what you like and not caring what anyone thinks is cool in itself.
I am still in my skinny jeans as they make me feel the best so you are not alone!
Same i look horrible in baggy jeans :'(
I'm 5'9 and skinny jeans make me look taller! Mom jeans are super unflattering on me. They are too stiff too. I love how stretchy skinny jeans are.
I have the slouchy mom jeans in regular sizing and the extra fabric is apparently "the look". I also bought a normal mom jeans (not slouchy) and the extra fabric thing is basically gone so that might be a solution for you?
Love the video, Carrie!!
I literally remove jean (on the rare occasion I wear them at all) AS SOON as physically possible when I get home 😅
Carrie- we NEED a haircare routine. your hair is like SILK. I admire it every time!! We're begging!!!!
I love your sense of humor. I actually LOL when you roast these clothes
Yes! I would love to see a video of you taking clothing to a tailor. I have always been curious about getting my clothes tailored. :D
i think you said Asos right! to me when people say “A-Sauce” it sounds not cute & like it could be a name of a mcdonald’s special sauce 😂
I would love to see a before and after fit of tailored clothing items!
I have some balloon pants from YMI i just got that I'm obsessed with, it's a baggy Jean too, maybe try that too
Seeing the size guide say the ASOS jeans are a uk 18 with a 36 waist is mad I have a 36” waist and wear men’s 36” trousers but in women’s it’s like 14-16 for me. so weird.
I just signed up for Skillshare, so excited to take a few courses, thanks for sharing! Loved your video, your content is so good. Best wishes!
You should try out the pin on buttons that you can add anywhere on the waist to make it tighter! I got mine on Amazon and I love them because my jeans fit differently as the seasons go on and it helps me get the best waist fit
Do you know their specific name? I'm interested into looking into that
@@sarahgh9495 I don’t remember the exact ones I bought but if you google “press on buttons for jeans” a whole bunch of options pop up! Mostly just different colors they all look the same quality to me, I got a 12 pack for like $10!
@@sunshinendrainbows27 ok great thanks!
i’ve been looking to find jeans like these for so long!! thank you so much for doing a video like this💕💕💕
I'm with you, I hate the baggy front area on jeans, I might die on the skinny jean hill.
The American Eagle Comfort Stretch Waistband Mom Jean are my absolute favorite!!!! They’re the perfect fit :)
You crack me up. I almost cut myself in half. You're the best!!! I am so excited when you post a new video!
"Anyways, if you know, you know" :) Use those buttons that you can buy off of Amazon to tighten the last pair. Those are my favorite on you.
I love the Eloquii boyfriend jeans for a loose but comfortable without being too big pair of jeans.
As a geriatric millenial (whoo 1983!), I would like to table the motion of “hands off my skinny jeans”.
This turquoise top looks fabulous on you! With tan, blonde hair and blue eyes - perfection!😍
I agree... the bunching at the pelvis is a major NO for me.
If those last jeans were tailored they would be perfect!! SO CUTE!
I have seen the straight size vs. plus size TikTok you are referencing and I laughed for like five years
Idk if you’ve already done this but old navys Straight jeans are soooo cute. You should try them
I would love to see a video where you take your clothes to the tailor!!
And I loved the thrifted Levi’s jeans even though they were too big in the waist, they had the perfect straight leg💜
