وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ مَا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ قَالُوا ائْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ And when Our Clear Verses are recited to them, their argument is no other than that they say: "Bring back our (dead) fathers, if you are truthful!" [45:25] The kuffaar will use any means necessary to deny the Prophet ﷺ. [53:1] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ النَّجۡمِ اِذَا ہَوٰی ۙ﴿۱﴾ By the bright star (Muhammad [blessings and peace be upon him]) when (he ascended during the Ascension Night in the twinkling of an eye and) descended. Glorious Quran [53:2] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُکُمۡ وَ مَا غَوٰی ۚ﴿۲﴾ He who bestowed on you his companionship (i.e., the Messenger, who made you his companions by blessing you with his companionship,) has never lost his way, nor has he (ever) strayed from the right path. Glorious Quran [53:3] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ مَا یَنۡطِقُ عَنِ الۡہَوٰی ؕ﴿۳﴾ And he does not speak out of his (own) desire. Glorious Quran [53:4] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اِنۡ ہُوَ اِلَّا وَحۡیٌ یُّوۡحٰی ۙ﴿۴﴾ His speech is nothing but Revelation, which is sent to him. Glorious Quran [53:7] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ ہُوَ بِالۡاُفُقِ الۡاَعۡلٰی ؕ﴿۷﴾ And he (Muhammad [blessings and peace be upon him]) was on the uppermost horizon (of the realm of creation during the Ascension Night i.e., on the apex of the created cosmos). Glorious Quran [53:8] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلّٰی ۙ﴿۸﴾ Then He (the Lord of Honour) drew closer (to His Beloved Muhammad [blessings and peace be upon him]) and then drew even closer.* [* Imam al-Bukhari cites these meanings in al-Jami‘ al-Sahih from the venerable Companion Anas. Moreover, ‘Abd Allah b. ‘Abbas, Imam al-Hasan al-Basri, Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq, Muhammad b. Ka‘b al-Qurazi the Successor, al-Dahhak and many other leading eminent exegetes also hold the same view.] Glorious Quran [53:9] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "فَکَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَیۡنِ اَوۡ اَدۡنٰی ۚ﴿۹﴾ Then a distance measuring only two bow-lengths was left (between Allah Unveiled and His Esteemed Beloved), or even less than that (in extreme nearness). Glorious Quran [53:10] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "فَاَوۡحٰۤی اِلٰی عَبۡدِہٖ مَاۤ اَوۡحٰی ﴿ؕ۱۰﴾ So (on that station of nearness) He (Allah) revealed to His (Beloved) servant whatever He revealed. Glorious Quran [53:11] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "مَا کَذَبَ الۡفُؤَادُ مَا رَاٰی ﴿۱۱﴾ (His) heart did not take it contrary to what (his) eyes beheld. Glorious Quran [53:12] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَفَتُمٰرُوۡنَہٗ عَلٰی مَا یَرٰی ﴿۱۲﴾ Do you argue with him about what he saw? Ka‘b al-Qurazi, Abu al-‘Aliya al-Riyahi the Successor, ‘Ata’ b. Abi Rabah the Successor, Ka‘b al-Ahbar the Successor, Imam Ahmad b. Hanbal, Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ash‘ari and several others.] Glorious Quran [53:14] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "عِنۡدَ سِدۡرَۃِ الۡمُنۡتَہٰی ﴿۱۴﴾ At the farthest Lote-Tree-Sidra al-Muntaha, Glorious Quran [53:15] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "عِنۡدَہَا جَنَّۃُ الۡمَاۡوٰی ﴿ؕ۱۵﴾ Adjacent to that is the Eternal Paradise-Janna al-Ma’wa, Glorious Quran [53:16] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اِذۡ یَغۡشَی السِّدۡرَۃَ مَا یَغۡشٰی ﴿ۙ۱۶﴾ When theophanies (i.e., effulgent disclosures) of the divine light wrapped up al-Sidra (the Lote-Tree at the Far End), covering it expansively.* [* This interpretation also comes from Imam al-Hasan al-Basri and other leading scholars.] Glorious Quran [53:17] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "مَا زَاغَ الۡبَصَرُ وَ مَا طَغٰی ﴿۱۷﴾ His eye neither inclined aside nor overstepped the limit; (it gazed in ecstasy at Whom it was to gaze). Glorious Quran [53:18] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "لَقَدۡ رَاٰی مِنۡ اٰیٰتِ رَبِّہِ الۡکُبۡرٰی ﴿۱۸﴾ Surely, he saw the greatest signs of His Lord (during the Ascension Night). Glorious Quran [53:19] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَفَرَءَیۡتُمُ اللّٰتَ وَ الۡعُزّٰی ﴿ۙ۱۹﴾ Have you taken a look at (the goddesses) Lat and ‘Uzza? Glorious Quran [53:20] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ مَنٰوۃَ الثَّالِثَۃَ الۡاُخۡرٰی ﴿۲۰﴾ And (have you) also (seen thoughtfully) another, that third one (goddess) Manat? (Have you declared them daughters of Allah?) Glorious Quran [53:21] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَلَکُمُ الذَّکَرُ وَ لَہُ الۡاُنۡثٰی ﴿۲۱﴾ (O idolaters!) Are sons for you and daughters for Him (Allah)? Glorious Quran [53:22] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "تِلۡکَ اِذًا قِسۡمَۃٌ ضِیۡزٰی ﴿۲۲﴾ (If your concept is correct,) then that division is serious injustice. Glorious Quran [53:23] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اِنۡ ہِیَ اِلَّاۤ اَسۡمَآءٌ سَمَّیۡتُمُوۡہَاۤ اَنۡتُمۡ وَ اٰبَآؤُکُمۡ مَّاۤ اَنۡزَلَ اللّٰہُ بِہَا مِنۡ سُلۡطٰنٍ ؕ اِنۡ یَّتَّبِعُوۡنَ اِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَ مَا تَہۡوَی الۡاَنۡفُسُ ۚ وَ لَقَدۡ جَآءَہُمۡ مِّنۡ رَّبِّہِمُ الۡہُدٰی ﴿ؕ۲۳﴾ But (the truth is that) these (idols) are nothing but mere names which you and your fathers have given. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow only whims and suspicions and the desires of their (ill-commanding) selves, whereas guidance has already come to them from their Lord. [53:24] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَمۡ لِلۡاِنۡسَانِ مَا تَمَنّٰی ﴿۫ۖ۲۴﴾ Is (all) that available for man what he longs for? Glorious Quran [53:25] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "فَلِلّٰہِ الۡاٰخِرَۃُ وَ الۡاُوۡلٰی ﴿٪۲۵﴾ So Allah alone is the Master of the Hereafter and the world. Glorious Quran [53:26] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ کَمۡ مِّنۡ مَّلَکٍ فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ لَا تُغۡنِیۡ شَفَاعَتُہُمۡ شَیۡئًا اِلَّا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ اَنۡ یَّاۡذَنَ اللّٰہُ لِمَنۡ یَّشَآءُ وَ یَرۡضٰی ﴿۲۶﴾ And how many angels there are in the heavens (whom the disbelievers and the idolaters worship and expect from them intercession but) whose intercession will be of no use at all, except after Allah (awards) permission for whom He wills and likes! Glorious Quran [53:27] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِالۡاٰخِرَۃِ لَیُسَمُّوۡنَ الۡمَلٰٓئِکَۃَ تَسۡمِیَۃَ الۡاُنۡثٰی ﴿۲۷﴾ Surely, those who do not believe in the Hereafter give the angels female names. Glorious Quran [53:28] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ مَا لَہُمۡ بِہٖ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍ ؕ اِنۡ یَّتَّبِعُوۡنَ اِلَّا الظَّنَّ ۚ وَ اِنَّ الظَّنَّ لَا یُغۡنِیۡ مِنَ الۡحَقِّ شَیۡئًا ﴿ۚ۲۸﴾ And they know nothing about it. They follow only assumption, and surely assumption serves no purpose in comparison with certitude. Glorious Quran [53:29] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "فَاَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡ مَّنۡ تَوَلّٰی ۬ۙ عَنۡ ذِکۡرِنَا وَ لَمۡ یُرِدۡ اِلَّا الۡحَیٰوۃَ الدُّنۡیَا ﴿ؕ۲۹﴾ So divert your attention from him who turns away from Our remembrance and desires nothing but the life of this world. Glorious Quran [53:30] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "ذٰلِکَ مَبۡلَغُہُمۡ مِّنَ الۡعِلۡمِ ؕ اِنَّ رَبَّکَ ہُوَ اَعۡلَمُ بِمَنۡ ضَلَّ عَنۡ سَبِیۡلِہٖ ۙ وَ ہُوَ اَعۡلَمُ بِمَنِ اہۡتَدٰی ﴿۳۰﴾ That is but the limit of the working of their knowledge. Verily, your Lord fully knows him who has strayed from His path and (also) knows best him who has attained guidance. Glorious Quran [53:31] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ لِلّٰہِ مَا فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ مَا فِی الۡاَرۡضِ ۙ لِیَجۡزِیَ الَّذِیۡنَ اَسَآءُوۡا بِمَا عَمِلُوۡا وَ یَجۡزِیَ الَّذِیۡنَ اَحۡسَنُوۡا بِالۡحُسۡنٰی ﴿ۚ۳۱﴾ And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth so that He recompenses the acts of those who have committed vices and gives good reward to those who have performed virtues. Glorious Quran [53:32] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَلَّذِیۡنَ یَجۡتَنِبُوۡنَ کَبٰٓئِرَ الۡاِثۡمِ وَ الۡفَوَاحِشَ اِلَّا اللَّمَمَ ؕ اِنَّ رَبَّکَ وَاسِعُ الۡمَغۡفِرَۃِ ؕ ہُوَ اَعۡلَمُ بِکُمۡ اِذۡ اَنۡشَاَکُمۡ مِّنَ الۡاَرۡضِ وَ اِذۡ اَنۡتُمۡ اَجِنَّۃٌ فِیۡ بُطُوۡنِ اُمَّہٰتِکُمۡ ۚ فَلَا تُزَکُّوۡۤا اَنۡفُسَکُمۡ ؕ ہُوَ اَعۡلَمُ بِمَنِ اتَّقٰی ٪﴿۳۲﴾ Those who guard against grave sins and indecencies excepting small sins (and omissions), surely your Lord has vast prospects of forgiveness (for them). He knows you best when He originated your life and nourishment from the earth (i.e., soil) and when you were embryos (conceived) in your mothers’ wombs. So never pose yourselves as clean and pure; He knows best who is (really) pious. Glorious Quran [53:33] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَفَرَءَیۡتَ الَّذِیۡ تَوَلّٰی ﴿ۙ۳۳﴾ Have you seen him who has turned away (from the truth)? Glorious Quran [53:34] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَعۡطٰی قَلِیۡلًا وَّ اَکۡدٰی ﴿۳۴﴾ And he gave away a little (wealth in the way of Allah) and (then) held back (his hand)? Glorious Quran [53:35] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَعِنۡدَہٗ عِلۡمُ الۡغَیۡبِ فَہُوَ یَرٰی ﴿۳۵﴾ Does he have the knowledge of the unseen that he can see? Glorious Quran [53:36] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَمۡ لَمۡ یُنَبَّاۡ بِمَا فِیۡ صُحُفِ مُوۡسٰی ﴿ۙ۳۶﴾ Has he not been given the knowledge of (matters) mentioned in the scriptures of Musa (Moses), Glorious Quran [53:37] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اِبۡرٰہِیۡمَ الَّذِیۡ وَفّٰۤی ﴿ۙ۳۷﴾ And in the (scriptures) of Ibrahim (Abraham), who accomplished (all the commands of Allah) with perfection? Glorious Quran [53:38] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَۃٌ وِّزۡرَ اُخۡرٰی ﴿ۙ۳۸﴾ That no bearer of a burden will carry the burden of (the sins) of another; Glorious Quran [53:39] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَنۡ لَّیۡسَ لِلۡاِنۡسَانِ اِلَّا مَا سَعٰی ﴿ۙ۳۹﴾ And that man (according to justice) will get only that for which he strives. (As for bounty, no one has any right to it. That is merely Allah’s bestowal and pleasure, granting as much as He wills to whom He pleases.) Glorious Quran [53:40] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَنَّ سَعۡیَہٗ سَوۡفَ یُرٰی ﴿۪۴۰﴾ And that all his endeavours will soon be shown (i.e., exposed). Glorious Quran [53:41] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "ثُمَّ یُجۡزٰىہُ الۡجَزَآءَ الۡاَوۡفٰی ﴿ۙ۴۱﴾ Then he will be given full reward (for all his endeavours); Glorious Quran [53:42] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَنَّ اِلٰی رَبِّکَ الۡمُنۡتَہٰی ﴿ۙ۴۲﴾ And that (ultimately all) have to return to your Lord; Glorious Quran [53:43] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَنَّہٗ ہُوَ اَضۡحَکَ وَ اَبۡکٰی ﴿ۙ۴۳﴾ And that He is the One Who makes one laugh (granting delight) and makes one weep (granting grief); Glorious Quran [53:44] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَنَّہٗ ہُوَ اَمَاتَ وَ اَحۡیَا ﴿ۙ۴۴﴾ And that He is the One Who causes death and gives life; Glorious Quran [53:45] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَنَّہٗ خَلَقَ الزَّوۡجَیۡنِ الذَّکَرَ وَ الۡاُنۡثٰی ﴿ۙ۴۵﴾ And that He is the One Who has created the two genders, male and female, Glorious Quran [53:46] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "مِنۡ نُّطۡفَۃٍ اِذَا تُمۡنٰی ﴿۪۴۶﴾ Out of a (sperm) drop when it is ejaculated (into the mother’s womb); Glorious Quran [53:47] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَنَّ عَلَیۡہِ النَّشۡاَۃَ الۡاُخۡرٰی ﴿ۙ۴۷﴾ And that it is upon Him alone to raise up alive (also after death); Glorious Quran [53:48] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَنَّہٗ ہُوَ اَغۡنٰی وَ اَقۡنٰی ﴿ۙ۴۸﴾ And that He is the One Who makes self-sufficient (by providing according to needs), and He is the One Who enriches treasures (by giving surplus to the needs); Glorious Quran [53:49] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَنَّہٗ ہُوَ رَبُّ الشِّعۡرٰی ﴿ۙ۴۹﴾ And that He alone is the Lord of Sirius (a star that was worshipped in the days of ignorance); Glorious Quran
[53:50] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ اَنَّہٗۤ اَہۡلَکَ عَادَۨ ا الۡاُوۡلٰی ﴿ۙ۵۰﴾ And that He is the One Who destroyed the first (people of) ‘Ad, Glorious Quran [53:51] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ ثَمُوۡدَا۠ فَمَاۤ اَبۡقٰی ﴿ۙ۵۱﴾ And (the people of) Thamud (as well). Then He did not spare (any of them) to survive. Glorious Quran [53:52] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ قَوۡمَ نُوۡحٍ مِّنۡ قَبۡلُ ؕ اِنَّہُمۡ کَانُوۡا ہُمۡ اَظۡلَمَ وَ اَطۡغٰی ﴿ؕ۵۲﴾ And before that, He destroyed the people of Nuh ([Noah] as well). Surely, they were extremely wicked and exceedingly defiant. Glorious Quran [53:53] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "وَ الۡمُؤۡتَفِکَۃَ اَہۡوٰی ﴿ۙ۵۳﴾ And He is the One Who (raised up) the overturned towns (of the people of Lut [Lot]) and smashed them down. Glorious Quran [53:54] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "فَغَشّٰہَا مَا غَشّٰی ﴿ۚ۵۴﴾ Then covered them that which did cover (i.e., the stones were rained on them). Glorious Quran [53:55] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "فَبِاَیِّ اٰلَآءِ رَبِّکَ تَتَمَارٰی ﴿۵۵﴾ So, (O man,) which of the favours of your Lord will you doubt? Glorious Quran [53:56] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "ہٰذَا نَذِیۡرٌ مِّنَ النُّذُرِ الۡاُوۡلٰی ﴿۵۶﴾ This (Holy Prophet [blessings and peace be upon him]) is also a Warner of the Warners of old. Glorious Quran [53:57] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَزِفَتِ الۡاٰزِفَۃُ ﴿ۚ۵۷﴾ The imminent (Hour of Judgment) has drawn near. Glorious Quran [53:58] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "لَیۡسَ لَہَا مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰہِ کَاشِفَۃٌ ﴿ؕ۵۸﴾ No one except Allah can bring it forth (and establish). Glorious Quran [53:59] Al-Najm-النَّجْم "اَفَمِنۡ ہٰذَا الۡحَدِیۡثِ تَعۡجَبُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۵۹﴾ So do you wonder at this Revelation? Then He (the Lord of Honour) drew closer (to His Beloved Muhammad [blessings and peace be upon him]) and then drew even closer.* [* Imam al-Bukhari cites these meanings in al-Jami‘ al-Sahih from the venerable Companion Anas. Moreover, ‘Abd Allah b. ‘Abbas, Imam al-Hasan al-Basri, Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq, Muhammad b. Ka‘b al-Qurazi the Successor, al-Dahhak and many other leading eminent exegetes also hold the same view.]

"فَکَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَیۡنِ اَوۡ اَدۡنٰی ۚ﴿۹﴾
Then a distance measuring only two bow-lengths was left (between Allah Unveiled and His Esteemed Beloved), or even less than that (in extreme nearness).

"فَاَوۡحٰۤی اِلٰی عَبۡدِہٖ مَاۤ اَوۡحٰی ﴿ؕ۱۰﴾
So (on that station of nearness) He (Allah) revealed to His (Beloved) servant whatever He revealed.

"مَا کَذَبَ الۡفُؤَادُ مَا رَاٰی ﴿۱۱﴾
(His) heart did not take it contrary to what (his) eyes beheld.

Do you argue with him about what he saw?

And assuredly, he saw Him (Allah Unveiled) the second time (again and you argue only about seeing Him once).* [* These meanings are based on the sayings of eminent luminaries and authorities like Ibn ‘Abbas, Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, ‘Ikrima the Successor, Imam al-Hasan al-Basri the Successor, Muhammad b. Ka‘b al-Qurazi, Abu al-‘Aliya al-Riyahi the Successor, ‘Ata’ b. Abi Rabah the Successor, Ka‘b al-Ahbar the Successor, Imam Ahmad b. Hanbal, Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ash‘ari and several others.]

"عِنۡدَ سِدۡرَۃِ الۡمُنۡتَہٰی ﴿۱۴﴾
At the farthest Lote-Tree-Sidra al-Muntaha,

"عِنۡدَہَا جَنَّۃُ الۡمَاۡوٰی ﴿ؕ۱۵﴾
Adjacent to that is the Eternal Paradise-Janna al-Ma’wa,

"اِذۡ یَغۡشَی السِّدۡرَۃَ مَا یَغۡشٰی ﴿ۙ۱۶﴾
When theophanies (i.e., effulgent disclosures) of the divine light wrapped up al-Sidra (the Lote-Tree at the Far End), covering it expansively.* [* This interpretation also comes from Imam al-Hasan al-Basri and other leading scholars.]

[53:17] Al-Najm-النَّجْم
"مَا زَاغَ الۡبَصَرُ وَ مَا طَغٰی ﴿۱۷﴾
His eye neither inclined aside nor overstepped the limit; (it gazed in ecstasy at Whom it was to gaze).

[53:18] Al-Najm-النَّجْم
"لَقَدۡ رَاٰی مِنۡ اٰیٰتِ رَبِّہِ الۡکُبۡرٰی ﴿۱۸﴾
Surely, he saw the greatest signs of His Lord (during the Ascension Night).

[53:19] Al-Najm-النَّجْم
"اَفَرَءَیۡتُمُ اللّٰتَ وَ الۡعُزّٰی ﴿ۙ۱۹﴾
Have you taken a look at (the goddesses) Lat and ‘Uzza?

[53:20] Al-Najm-النَّجْم
"وَ مَنٰوۃَ الثَّالِثَۃَ الۡاُخۡرٰی ﴿۲۰﴾
And (have you) also (seen thoughtfully) another, that third one (goddess) Manat? (Have you declared them daughters of Allah?)

[53:21] Al-Najm-النَّجْم
"اَلَکُمُ الذَّکَرُ وَ لَہُ الۡاُنۡثٰی ﴿۲۱﴾
(O idolaters!) Are sons for you and daughters for Him (Allah)?

"تِلۡکَ اِذًا قِسۡمَۃٌ ضِیۡزٰی ﴿۲۲﴾
(If your concept is correct,) then that division is serious injustice.

"اِنۡ ہِیَ اِلَّاۤ اَسۡمَآءٌ سَمَّیۡتُمُوۡہَاۤ اَنۡتُمۡ وَ اٰبَآؤُکُمۡ مَّاۤ اَنۡزَلَ اللّٰہُ بِہَا مِنۡ سُلۡطٰنٍ ؕ اِنۡ یَّتَّبِعُوۡنَ اِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَ مَا تَہۡوَی الۡاَنۡفُسُ ۚ وَ لَقَدۡ جَآءَہُمۡ مِّنۡ رَّبِّہِمُ الۡہُدٰی ﴿ؕ۲۳﴾
But (the truth is that) these (idols) are nothing but mere names which you and your fathers have given. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow only whims and suspicions and the desires of their (ill-commanding) selves, whereas guidance has already come to them from their Lord.

[53:24] Al-Najm-النَّجْم
"اَمۡ لِلۡاِنۡسَانِ مَا تَمَنّٰی ﴿۫ۖ۲۴﴾
Is (all) that available for man what he longs for?

"فَلِلّٰہِ الۡاٰخِرَۃُ وَ الۡاُوۡلٰی ﴿٪۲۵﴾
So Allah alone is the Master of the Hereafter and the world.

[53:26] Al-Najm-النَّجْم
"وَ کَمۡ مِّنۡ مَّلَکٍ فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ لَا تُغۡنِیۡ شَفَاعَتُہُمۡ شَیۡئًا اِلَّا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ اَنۡ یَّاۡذَنَ اللّٰہُ لِمَنۡ یَّشَآءُ وَ یَرۡضٰی ﴿۲۶﴾
And how many angels there are in the heavens (whom the disbelievers and the idolaters worship and expect from them intercession but) whose intercession will be of no use at all, except after Allah (awards) permission for whom He wills and likes!

[53:27] Al-Najm-النَّجْم
"اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ لَا یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِالۡاٰخِرَۃِ لَیُسَمُّوۡنَ الۡمَلٰٓئِکَۃَ تَسۡمِیَۃَ الۡاُنۡثٰی ﴿۲۷﴾
Surely, those who do not believe in the Hereafter give the angels female names.

"وَ مَا لَہُمۡ بِہٖ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍ ؕ اِنۡ یَّتَّبِعُوۡنَ اِلَّا الظَّنَّ ۚ وَ اِنَّ الظَّنَّ لَا یُغۡنِیۡ مِنَ الۡحَقِّ شَیۡئًا ﴿ۚ۲۸﴾
And they know nothing about it. They follow only assumption, and surely assumption serves no purpose in comparison with certitude.

Those who guard against grave sins and indecencies excepting small sins (and omissions), surely your Lord has vast prospects of forgiveness (for them). He knows you best when He originated your life and nourishment from the earth (i.e., soil) and when you were embryos (conceived) in your mothers’ wombs. So never pose yourselves as clean and pure; He knows best who is (really) pious.

"اَفَرَءَیۡتَ الَّذِیۡ تَوَلّٰی ﴿ۙ۳۳﴾
Have you seen him who has turned away (from the truth)?

And that He is the One Who makes one laugh (granting delight) and makes one weep (granting grief);

"وَ اَنَّہٗ ہُوَ اَمَاتَ وَ اَحۡیَا ﴿ۙ۴۴﴾
And that He is the One Who causes death and gives life;

"وَ اَنَّہٗ خَلَقَ الزَّوۡجَیۡنِ الذَّکَرَ وَ الۡاُنۡثٰی ﴿ۙ۴۵﴾

Out of a (sperm) drop when it is ejaculated (into the mother’s womb);

And that it is upon Him alone to raise up alive (also after death);

And that He alone is the Lord of Sirius (a star that was worshipped in the days of ignorance);

And (the people of) Thamud (as well). Then He did not spare (any of them) to survive.

And before that, He destroyed the people of Nuh ([Noah] as well). Surely, they were extremely wicked and exceedingly defiant.

"وَ الۡمُؤۡتَفِکَۃَ اَہۡوٰی ﴿ۙ۵۳﴾
And He is the One Who (raised up) the overturned towns (of the people of Lut [Lot]) and smashed them down.
