@@simod I think it was an early time saver shunting layout. The lead track was in the narrow part and the sidings were in the wide part. I don't get any google hits but it certainly existed.
@@simod I guess it was, it's not always about the bigger layouts. I love these little setups, sometimes that takes more work in planning to get a good result than the bigger ones.
Congratulations to your microlayout! I like the concept of having the layout in the box, especially sealing it from dust after play time appeals to me. I do have a few questions... - Whats the size of the storage box? - Do you feel like the semi tranparent walls of the box take away some atmosphere / you miss seeing the trains from the side? - Is this H0 gauge? - Does the storage box have an entry-hole for an external fiddle yard? - There is no way for the loco to go around a car - right? Kind regards from Germany!
The box is 94 centimetres by 34 centimetres and 17 centimetres high I do think the walls of the box do take away a good viewing point but it is on a board which is removable The scale is OO which is 1:76 scale There is no entry hole for a fiddle yard but I could make one but the hillside/tunnel has a removable top for swapping a loco or freight. Thank you for the comment and questions Simo D 👍🏻✌🏻😎
@@simod One thought I've had is to have the box upside-down, and set the board in the lid. I have a couple of box file projects on the go (n gauge). Early stages on these.
this is amazing exactaly what ive been looking for, I got from place to place a lot and have been looking for something like this. Is there anyway you can upload the track plan and dimensions at all?
I will use better music once I get my laptop and camera. Everything is done on my phone at the moment so I have limited music. Thanks for your comments 🙂 👍
Let no body try and say they don't have any room for a OO/HO model railway! Well done.
@@peterpocock9062 my thoughts exactly
That is a excellent pop up lay out. I'm building a N gauge layout in a .750 x.220 plastic box.
That would be great to see. Hope you film it and put it up on your channel. Will sub to see that 👌🏻
Ingenious! Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic layout. 🤩🤩🤩 The only thing I would do differently is to build it on the lid and then use the box on too to close it.
Great video 👍
Worth a try. Better for viewing too 👍👍
Enjoyed watching your video and sharing the details
Thank you very much good sir
Reminds me of a layout built in a violin case. Saw it in Railway Modeller magazine in the early 1970's
Wow that would of been great to see

Brilliant, what a great idea. Next time, and I only say they because I keep fish, get yourself a second hand fish tank with a lid. 360' view.
Not a bad idea. Keep the dust off for sure
best micro layout ive seen. great video, thankyou
Wow thank you very much
The music lol, I feel like I'm a little kid again at the grocery store with my mom in the 80s.
It's a limited choice from the video editor on my phone lol. Cheers Simo
Great job thinking "outside" the box.
Thanks Heath. Just a little something for when the conditions aren't great in the loft.
Very good creation and very well filmed!
Thank you very much
Hey David, an amazing layout it just shows that you do not need heaps of space to run trains. Great stuff, well done my friend :) :) :)
Thank you good sir 👍🏻
Brilliant little layout
Thank you very much
I am very impressed. Hi from NZ
Thank you
Great layout in a box 👍🏻
Cheers mate
That is so very awesome and well done! I have seen suitcases and such, but this is very clever!
Excellent comment, thank you very much ✌🏻
Nifty little layout.
Fun to build too. Cheers

This is a fantastic layout. I am looking to build a micro layout myself.
Brilliant. They do bring a different kind of interest to the world of model railways
They sure do. Can I ask what sort of cost was it to build?
@Phil Bull to be honest. It's was all bits I had spare
Nice layout! Great idea too!
Thank you very much
Like it, but I could never work that small. Well done.
It was more of an experiment with left overs and when I realised I could I carried it on. Cheers Chris
nice new layout keep up the good vid thanks ;lee
Cheers

@@andrewmasters5020 you would definitely have more space in N gauge so a bigger layout in a big box
@@andrewmasters5020 Great layout! There's even space for a small steam loco scrapping diorama in one of the sidings!
Japanese would love this.😉😉😉
I've got a 1/35 scale model railway which fits in a case which I sometimes take to other countries
You should make a video on that and upload it to TH-cam👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Simon
Thanks for your reply but.
To be honest am a hands on engineer and I'm thick when it comes to computers phones ect
@@paulnicoll1791 I'm the same. I do everything on a old Samsung edge 7. So easy in you download the TH-cam app. Best of all it's free
If the UK train network was that big it would still cost £127 to go 30 meters.
Probably more now with everything going up haha
(Sorry reply was so late, never got a notification)
Ingenious idea, how long is the full length of track?👍
The length is just under 3 ft. From buffer to buffer
this is amazing exactaly what ive been looking for, I got from place to place a lot and have been looking for something like this. Is there anyway you can upload the track plan and dimensions at all?
I can try
@@simod that would be amazing!! do you think this layout could work with some small switching with a gp-15?
@@winterpirate I'm not sure what a GP-15 is
@@simod Aahh its a switching diesel loco on the smaller end
I'm new to hornby how do end to end work ? Do you need two power supply's?
It's just short running of trains rather than continuous loops. This is digital but you can run it on dc too
Great layout and video but please drop the annoying music in future videos.
