There was an issue with YaV1 lockouts actually. If you upgrade to 2.0.3, the big will be fixed. Those K falses though are not going to necessarily be fixed with lockouts. Blind spot moving falses are different. You want TMF/TMF2 for that.
Oh, also, boxes wouldn't help in this situation. They'll let you selectively mute a certain range of frequencies, but you're looking at the entirety of K band and you can get both legit and false signals anywhere in K band. Filtering by frequency is pretty helpful on Ka band but not as much on K band. :)

Justin Kos I don't know about the covers and sprays, but I have tested Veil G4 and G5. There's been some good results with G4, but G5 is too dark for actual usage on license plates in practice. Take a look at a comparison here: th-cam.com/video/ViQz7UtR25k/w-d-xo.html G5 also isn't really proving to be effective in practice by independent testers. I tested it too and wasn't impressed with its performance whatsoever. In short, save your money and get jammers instead.
Im currently running the newest V1 with the Iphone with no issues. I actually like it better than my Uniden R3. Something about the arrows makes you feel good. I was given a Galaxy S5 that I could run as a stand-alone phone for the radar. Would there be any reason better for me to do this vs my daily used iphone?
Just bought a V1 based largely on recommendations here, literally just opened the box. Wanted to point out that they are no longer coming with the advanced features all turned off, but with most of them turned on out of the box. There's a special insert page first thing in the manual describing it (TMF & Junk-K Fighter now come set on as default, per customer requests).
Congrats! Yeah TMF2 is now turned on by default because so many people got the upgrade and then were wondering why it was still falsing, lol... That's the difference between 3.894 and 3.8945... the latter just has that feature enabled by default.

@vortexradar, i have been dealing with many out of tune chp radars , i usually got my v1c around 34.650 34.770 keeping it narrow but now im getting 34.648 and lower , yav1 is the best so im always adjusting. This morning got a 35.5 but didnt see him, it was a double bogie so i knew it was legit not a false , all these little things make the v1 the best radar sacrificing the extreme range r1, and redline provide
34.7 guns are designed to transmit 34.7 +/100 MHz which translates to between 34.600 - 34.800. The guns you're talking about are in tune and operating as designed. If you're not totally clear on what you're doing, don't mess with custom sweeps. It's an advanced feature and if you set it up incorrectly, you can tell your radar detector to miss legitimate police radar. Just stick with the recommended custom sweeps and/or use the ones built into the app. They were put there to simplify all this for you so you don't have to mess with things yourself.

***** Custom sweeps and the V1 settings stay programmed in the V1. GPS lockouts require the phone's GPS to work. Same thing with playing voice files through your phone. Those files are stored in your phone and played through your phone.
I have version 3.8952 and i passed by a busy street in my town and i got 5 diffrent boogies i manually turned off x and k band and passed by the same street and my v1 didnt make a noise :)

***** It's the RAM X-grip mount. amzn.to/1dwz7Pz It's pretty good as a universal mount. If you want something more tailored to your specific phone, you can look into one of those as well. ProClip makes some pretty awesome mounts tailored to both your phone and vehicle. They're pricey though.
Great info, i an new to this. I have everything set up using V1 and YAV1. For some reason on my logged alerts will not show up on map in YAV1. It is showing a world map. Got any ideas what is not set right? Thanks

+LLBJ5 Once you program your V1, the settings stay in the V1, including custom sweeps. You won't get GPS related features like lockouts of course, but your sweeps will stay in each V1.

Does this require a cellular data plan? or can I buy a cheap used android for the sole purpose of pairing with the V1? (If so, got any recommendations? Weighing cheap vs powerful enough to not affect the yav1 performance)
1. Is laser really that unaffective on the V1? I am not sure if I should turn it off. I feel like i'd like a warning if I am getting a ticket. But if its so useless, maybe I should turn it off to get better performance. 2. I don't like to have YaV1 on all the time (only 1 phone), does the V1 save the settings that I put on with YaV1?
joshlete The laser sensor on the V1 is the most sensitive you can get on any radar detector. It also have pretty limited filtering so you'll get a lot of false alerts as well in addition to that increased sensitivity. If you want to turn it on, that's totally cool, but laser jammers are what you really need if you want to help stop tickets and not just get notified if you're about to get one. ;) Turning laser off isn't about increased performance. Moreso about reduced false alerts and letting your jammers handle the load if applicable. If no jammers, probably best to leave it on. Many of the settings will get saved to the phone such as the Junk K Fighter and Custom Sweeps. Some features that require the phone's memory and/or GPS such as GPS lockouts, low speed muting, or even displaying the alerts on screen, those will require a phone to be connected.

How are you able to run a concealed display and Android device at the same time? I'm checking the wiring diagrams, and there is no set up for this. I don't see how you can do it with as both the V1 connection and concealed display have only one output.
I run the Cobra 767 POS (POS added by me). I find it is really good at picking up automatic doors and electronics in peoples homes. It is not so good at detecting police radar guns however which is a bit of a problem. If you own one of these I would recommend a two tiered approach which has been effective for me: Turn it on as loud as it can go and never ever speed.

+Korey Mullins What version is it? You need 3.892 or newer for YaV1 and 3.894 or newer for the junk K fighter. You do need the newest version for the best experience possible.

Yeah I haven't heard any issues yet about detectors getting fried. Sure it's better when electronics aren't baking in the sun, but they're designed to be there and I haven't heard issues of them getting cooked due to being left out in the sun so you should be fine.
I know your driving a Mazda Miata in this video you should reroute your radar screen under your console aiming upward to allow you to see it. Use Velcro tape it works well and you can remove it so it does not effect the price of the vehicle. (resale wise). I drive a Fiata (Fiat 124 Spider)
Hey fellow Miata/Fiata driver! :D Yeah I had looked into that initially, but I didn't see a good spot to put it without blocking some of the instrument cluster. Maybe the Fiata's layout is a little different? I also really liked being able to have it right in my field of view so I can keep my eyes on the road and see what's going on with my peripheral vision. It was also really good for videos so you can see exactly what the detector sees on camera. Having it under the console somewhere would definitely make it cleaner and more OEM. :)
Vortex Radar What did you think? Still visible under the steering column yet onlookers can't tell if the radar is on or off. Same with cops. They can't tell besides when they tail me and cut on their radar device (had it happen once). They took off around me when I slowed down.
Quick question... Sooo Ive had the V1 detector for about a month now and it has yet to detect 1 cop.... Do the cops not ride around the city with there radar guns on or what? Also I turned off only the X band
Cal Beezy That's actually very common. Not every cop is using radar and some places don't run much radar at all. The town I live in uses it very rarely, but the highway patrol is more active, for example.

That only affects filtering, not performance. In CA you can disable K band entirely and just run Ka. For maximum Ka performance, disable Ka guard and enable custom sweeps as discussed in this video.
Vortex Radar i have turned off xband and kband super quiet besides all the false laser alerts , super annoying till i get my ALPS. I just bought the yav1 yesterday super excited to get it and maximize performance. I turned off KA guard and it sure did make it more sensitive.

Depends. Some settings like the V1's built in muting settings, as well as custom sweeps, those stay in the V1 the whole time. If you want any of the functionality YaV1 adds like the GPS stuff, alert logging, and so on, you do need the phone for that.
+Ryker Bowen You can't disable Ka POP at all. It has constant 33.8 sweeps built in no matter what. J-out alerts I'm not sure. I don't get them myself with Ka guard off.
Hello what phone are you using? I'm using note 8. And have the newest V1 with bluetooth V1 connect. I tried so many times doing the set ups I played the video like 20 times follow everything step by step and I dont get anything on alerts,or pretty much I have no control of my V1 I see on my phone what I see on my canceled display I have on the bottom of my dash. Even stays on all bogeys doesnt matter if I go to euro, mode it shows it loaded but is not, I know is not my phone , and it's not my bluetooth connect, I think it my V1 , I dont know if I have to put it in certain th ain modo in order to run YaV1. Please help.
@@VortexRadar you know on the YaV1 setting when you say press the little pink slip to load up your setting. On mine It dont show the pink slip..in order for me to load it up I have to tap the tools tap then it saids its loaded, the reason I say it's not really loading is beacuse I pass by this area where it always detects the k band, so what I did I took the k band off my setting and just left ka band, and the k band still gets picked up by the v1. Seems like there is connection with my V1 I see everything but wont load the setting even if it shows it on the YaV1.
Do you have a video on the V1 using V1connection? It would be easier to follow since I am trying to find the right Settings using the V1connection app. You are using YaV1 using an Android phone and I do not plan on purchasing an Android phone. I wish the developer would create YaV1 for iOS but that does not look like a realistic probability looking at his comments.

Can I just setup my V1 with a friends android and run the radar in the car without the actual android in the car? Just the V1 no accessories. Aka set up the custom sweeps with yav1 and get on my way
AimesX8 It makes the rampup more aggressive. It doesn't actually impact sensitivity or performance in any way, but it makes the rampup get more intense at lower sensitivity levels.

One final question though, you talked about selecting KA muting when outside of the box but my problem is the amount of false alerts that come from K band. Should I select muting outside the box for K as well?
AimesX8 K band is different than Ka because legitimate K band can be all over the place. Legitimate Ka band signals are only within a small range within the entirety of ranges you can scan for, so trying to break things up with boxes isn't as helpful for K band. When it comes to K band muting, you're going to want to look into other options like savvy emulation, GPS lockouts, TMF2, and the various filters that are all designed to filter different signals in different ways.
I live in PA where only state police use radar and it's nearly 100% K band. I have learned segments where most of the guns they use are. I just wish I could do K band custom sweeps.
You don't have to. I do since that's a cheap prepaid phone I never activated and that stops the nag screens. ;) All you need is BT and GPS (and WiFi for home) and all of those can work with airplane mode enabled. If you have a normal Android phone with service, that works equally well. Airplane mode is note required.

YaV1 makes the V1 hands down the best radar in the world. I bought another phone for my car just to run YaV1, got one at bestbuy for like $30

Weird. Not sure. As long as you have a good GPS lock and an Internet connection, it should work.

1. Is laser really that unaffective on the V1? I am not sure if I should turn it off. I feel like i'd like a warning if I am getting a ticket. But if its so useless, maybe I should turn it off to get better performance.
2. I don't like to have YaV1 on all the time (only 1 phone), does the V1 save the settings that I put on with YaV1?
joshlete The laser sensor on the V1 is the most sensitive you can get on any radar detector. It also have pretty limited filtering so you'll get a lot of false alerts as well in addition to that increased sensitivity. If you want to turn it on, that's totally cool, but laser jammers are what you really need if you want to help stop tickets and not just get notified if you're about to get one. ;) Turning laser off isn't about increased performance. Moreso about reduced false alerts and letting your jammers handle the load if applicable. If no jammers, probably best to leave it on.
Many of the settings will get saved to the phone such as the Junk K Fighter and Custom Sweeps. Some features that require the phone's memory and/or GPS such as GPS lockouts, low speed muting, or even displaying the alerts on screen, those will require a phone to be connected.

How are you able to run a concealed display and Android device at the same time? I'm checking the wiring diagrams, and there is no set up for this. I don't see how you can do it with as both the V1 connection and concealed display have only one output.

I run the Cobra 767 POS (POS added by me). I find it is really good at picking up automatic doors and electronics in peoples homes. It is not so good at detecting police radar guns however which is a bit of a problem. If you own one of these I would recommend a two tiered approach which has been effective for me: Turn it on as loud as it can go and never ever speed.
hello just started watching your videos i have a valentine 1 and just found out it does not have the junk k fighter its a older model if i pair it with my android phone will i still be able to get the performance out of it and also can i use the yav1 app to quite it down a bit? even though its the older model? or should i just get a new one . thanks
+Korey Mullins What version is it? You need 3.892 or newer for YaV1 and 3.894 or newer for the junk K fighter. You do need the newest version for the best experience possible.

Yeah I haven't heard any issues yet about detectors getting fried. Sure it's better when electronics aren't baking in the sun, but they're designed to be there and I haven't heard issues of them getting cooked due to being left out in the sun so you should be fine.
Leaving it in the windshield is asking for a break in.

How can you tell if Ka Guard is enabled or off? I still get J alerts quite a bit. I thought Euro Mode automatically disabled Ka Guard?
It's in the settings. I don't remember the nuances off the top of my head, so if you search RDF or V1's documentation about J-outs, that should help.
I know your driving a Mazda Miata in this video you should reroute your radar screen under your console aiming upward to allow you to see it. Use Velcro tape it works well and you can remove it so it does not effect the price of the vehicle. (resale wise). I drive a Fiata (Fiat 124 Spider)
Hey fellow Miata/Fiata driver! :D Yeah I had looked into that initially, but I didn't see a good spot to put it without blocking some of the instrument cluster. Maybe the Fiata's layout is a little different? I also really liked being able to have it right in my field of view so I can keep my eyes on the road and see what's going on with my peripheral vision. It was also really good for videos so you can see exactly what the detector sees on camera. Having it under the console somewhere would definitely make it cleaner and more OEM. :)

Vortex Radar What did you think? Still visible under the steering column yet onlookers can't tell if the radar is on or off. Same with cops. They can't tell besides when they tail me and cut on their radar device (had it happen once). They took off around me when I slowed down.

Cal Beezy That's actually very common. Not every cop is using radar and some places don't run much radar at all. The town I live in uses it very rarely, but the highway patrol is more active, for example.

So the A mode would give the best performance against Advanced Logic mode? Even though I have turned off k band on the settings without yav1? I run Big L all time but I need to know which is the most sensitive to KA BAND all they run out here in California besides laser
That only affects filtering, not performance. In CA you can disable K band entirely and just run Ka. For maximum Ka performance, disable Ka guard and enable custom sweeps as discussed in this video.
Vortex Radar i have turned off xband and kband super quiet besides all the false laser alerts , super annoying till i get my ALPS. I just bought the yav1 yesterday super excited to get it and maximize performance. I turned off KA guard and it sure did make it more sensitive.

Depends. Some settings like the V1's built in muting settings, as well as custom sweeps, those stay in the V1 the whole time. If you want any of the functionality YaV1 adds like the GPS stuff, alert logging, and so on, you do need the phone for that.
On my V1 that is Custom Swept , how do completely disable PoP detection on K and Ka Band. How do I get rid of J alerts?
+Ryker Bowen You can't disable Ka POP at all. It has constant 33.8 sweeps built in no matter what. J-out alerts I'm not sure. I don't get them myself with Ka guard off.
Hello what phone are you using? I'm using note 8. And have the newest V1 with bluetooth V1 connect. I tried so many times doing the set ups I played the video like 20 times follow everything step by step and I dont get anything on alerts,or pretty much I have no control of my V1 I see on my phone what I see on my canceled display I have on the bottom of my dash. Even stays on all bogeys doesnt matter if I go to euro, mode it shows it loaded but is not, I know is not my phone , and it's not my bluetooth connect, I think it my V1 , I dont know if I have to put it in certain th ain modo in order to run YaV1. Please help.
Do you have the Android only V1C or the V1C LE? YaV1 requires the Android only version.

@@VortexRadar you know on the YaV1 setting when you say press the little pink slip to load up your setting. On mine It dont show the pink slip..in order for me to load it up I have to tap the tools tap then it saids its loaded, the reason I say it's not really loading is beacuse I pass by this area where it always detects the k band, so what I did I took the k band off my setting and just left ka band, and the k band still gets picked up by the v1. Seems like there is connection with my V1 I see everything but wont load the setting even if it shows it on the YaV1.

Do you have a video on the V1 using V1connection? It would be easier to follow since I am trying to find the right Settings using the V1connection app. You are using YaV1 using an Android phone and I do not plan on purchasing an Android phone. I wish the developer would create YaV1 for iOS but that does not look like a realistic probability looking at his comments.
I was actually thinking about this earlier today. I haven't and I haven't bothered because I feel like the V1 is pretty incomplete without an Android. What is KA Ramping and when would you put it on high?
AimesX8 It makes the rampup more aggressive. It doesn't actually impact sensitivity or performance in any way, but it makes the rampup get more intense at lower sensitivity levels.

One final question though, you talked about selecting KA muting when outside of the box but my problem is the amount of false alerts that come from K band. Should I select muting outside the box for K as well?
AimesX8 K band is different than Ka because legitimate K band can be all over the place. Legitimate Ka band signals are only within a small range within the entirety of ranges you can scan for, so trying to break things up with boxes isn't as helpful for K band.
When it comes to K band muting, you're going to want to look into other options like savvy emulation, GPS lockouts, TMF2, and the various filters that are all designed to filter different signals in different ways.
I live in PA where only state police use radar and it's nearly 100% K band. I have learned segments where most of the guns they use are. I just wish I could do K band custom sweeps.

It looks to me that you are running your android phone in airplane mode. Is this true and is that the way you recommend running it?
You don't have to. I do since that's a cheap prepaid phone I never activated and that stops the nag screens. ;) All you need is BT and GPS (and WiFi for home) and all of those can work with airplane mode enabled. If you have a normal Android phone with service, that works equally well. Airplane mode is note required.
