Good review, might I add this is designed with campsite in mind even water boundary, tent works well as Dutch oven lifter, saw, notching wood tent stakes, tweezers, tick remover, file, sharpen hatchet, and fish hooks.Scissor, line cutter also stake puller hooking fish over canoe kayak etc.
Really good point on using the carabiner for pulling our the stake. No real need for the provided Stake Puller.Maybe if it had other uses... Very good point. It's a useful multi tool, other tools work wonderful for what it is made for. Cutting camping weight and having a tool in a pinch. Thank you.
The hook is extremely useful for undoing knots, can’t use the carabiner for that. Can also use it for hanging things. I wouldn’t count it out just cause it’s a bit hard to take out.
Thanks for the review, I agree with most of your points here. The stake removal tool would be mostly useful for a v-shape or y-shape stake, shepherds hook stakes are usually easy enough to pull with a finger. The carabiner is too wide for me to use in my v-stakes, for example. The scissors I'd mostly be using to cut tape for first aid or patches for the tent, I'd always use a knife for parachord.
I bought one when it first came out the price point weight and tools. All all a winner to light weight multi tool. The tent peg tool is designed to harder to get out so doesn’t come out and get caught up on something.
I think Gerber could have done better at design and use. I think adding a ferro rod and removing the file would be a good start. The tent stake puller seems useful, perhaps an easier way of opening it. I plan on using this next weekend.
They really lost the chance to make the carabiner part a hammer like the Leatherman Signal. Could also use a marlin spike tbh, tight knots can be a pain without those. I like the notch on the saw, you can place a string there and do a pull cut with both the tool hand and another hand pulling the string.
@@gearsNtools that’s a fair point. You do save a lot of money. That’s kind of the way I treat my Signal. It mostly stays in my backpack unless I need it in a pinch.
Gerber’s ability to produce crappy designs of pocket tools is unbelievable. Unfortunately, I have spent good money purchasing several because I thought it was an interesting design. They use poor steel and are difficult to operate because of poor design and QC.

What is a scandi grind blade Alex !!!
I just use a tent stake to pull tent stakes.
two words. Swiss Champ.

I wanted this to be a competitive option for people who are considering the Leatherman Signal, but in my opinion it is not.
I agree but the signal also costs 3x what this tool does. I see this more as a keep in your camp bag or secondary tool.

Poor effort by Gerber imo, considering todays multi-tool selections. Cheap crap.
