That green dial on the Glashütte watch is called a fumé dial, or some folks prefer to call it an ombré. Both mean a dial which gets darker the further you go from the centre. Glashütte, by the way, is a town in Germany that is famous for watchmaking, with many watchmakers in the town. So, a Glashütte watch is just a watch made in Glashütte, just like a Swiss watch is a watch made in Switzerland. Michael's watch is made by one such Glashütte brand, called Glashütte Original.

I'm not a Daytona fan but, I do like the platinum with the brown bezel. The AP, not for me. If I was buying today, it would have to be the Glashutta, in green. Such a beautiful watch and not really a lot of money. I think I'll have to have a mooch online to see what's about. This is a lovely series.

Favorites from my collection are my vintage 1955 and 1965 Omega Constellations and, from the modern era, my Cartier Santos Stainless and Ball GMT Hydrocarbon, also stainless.
Glashutte simply makes the best watch in the world for the money ... unlike rolex wich make about 60% of their components themselves Glashutte produces 95%+ from the smallest screws to the hand engraved bridges everything is done by Glashutte and the quality control is unmatched!! I've been lucky enough in my life to have been given a Rolex GMT Master II, Pepsi. It's stainless, but it's a very VERY nice watch, black dial, obviously the blue and red bezel. It's a gorgeous watch. It needs a service and I'm not able to afford a service on a Rolex at this point in my life, BUT.. what a stunning looking watch. It's from around 2007. Lovely piece in my opinion.

Maybe it's the colour balance as the camera is pointing towards the window, but the Daytona dial looks mint green to me, at best you could call it turquoise, but blue!!

On that AP ... i have a Invicta that's "GOLD TONE" (i can't afford a gold watch .... YET) and when i walk in public, i get complemented heavily on it. A few years back ,while flying on holiday, i overheard two men talking : LOOK AT THAT, DO YOU THINK IT'S REAL, NAAAAW , IT COULDN'T BE. And when i looked up to see WHO (i didn't think it was me) , they both were Glaringly Looking Directly at ME 😨 .
France made that move because France is in a disastrous state right now, their finances are in shambles, they're completely upside down in debt, they tax their citizens up to 75% when they open a business.. France has fallen into 3rd world status and they'll do ANYTHING to swipe some cash from someone they know is good for the money. Ridiculous. Buying a Rolex is an EXPERIENCE you don't get 'online'. You have a responsibility when buying a Rolex to take the trip to the authorized dealer and make the deal. You can buy a Rolex online, it's just not going to be from the factory. Silly.. Silly France.
Rolex "Platona" at 0:42. This watch is $120,000 USD now. The watch could be found for much cheaper than that in early years after its release. My friend saw one for $32,000 USD in South Africa. I saw one in Canada for $72,000 CAD. They are more than that today. The same Canadian AD was selling it for $98,000 CAD in 2017. But this version of the Daytona was not really a collector's watch until years after its release. Similar to the Nautilus, the value of many watches do not increase significantly after the initial release. The Nautilus could be had for $18,000 CAD at one time at my local AD. Now you need a lot more money for the watch. It may take years for the community to recognize the watch and for hype to set in.
Great selections and explanations what each means to you. But Michael… good luck getting $120k for the Platona - many under $100k on chrono and yours isn’t the new 2023 with the metal trim around the bezel.

Its spelled like the british/irish accent "glass" and the "hütte" you are already saying right. But the harsh "SH" in "glashhutte" makes it weird. Keep up the awesome content! I love all 3 watches. Michael, I admire your great taste. I also like the brown bezel on the Daytona, with a black bezel the contrast to the dial would be far too strong. But it's kind of crazy, this huge price difference between the G-O and the Daytona, right? The AP is also great, I really like this independent design. I think you can't compare watches with each other. You can see that with these 3 watches, each one is unique. I really enjoyed your trips to Switzerland. Will you be traveling to Switzerland again this year?

I find myself reading about all the options out there and latest innovations that mightn’t be my style but as a fan I can appreciate watches that I’m not wanting to add to a collection. I dont prefer to fuss about watches. My cell phone has a clock on it. I am good. Watches are a commodity that fluctuate in value. Every few months and years we hear about big crashes in the funko pop and beanie baby market. Not much different. Something you buy and put on a shelf.

The dial comes across as green, is that just the camera or is it a case of the color shifting over time? I like the pale metallic green but rolexes are a bit 1970 brutal in form. I like the color scheme of the AP, white and copper gold go pretty well together. My Tesla is white, I wear white pants, I like the bright cleanliness of white but it is a hefty watch. Like wearing an engine block or part of a safe :)
I enjoy your videos a lot and many times they are ready well balance. But in these videos the over exposed window in the background is for me really distracting and easy to fix by using studio lighting on your subject an your beautiful watches.
One of his fav watches that year: -can barely pronounce the name -not sure if it has a moonphase complication or not -struggles with the strap -doesn't know what the dial type is called (it's a fume dial and they are not that unique)

1960s Speedy 321 is my grail. Then a 1963 Seamaster 300 in exceptional condition. And a 1967 Rolex 5513 on fragile, riveted oyster bracelet.

I dont prefer to fuss about watches. My cell phone has a clock on it. I am good. Watches are a commodity that fluctuate in value. Every few months and years we hear about big crashes in the funko pop and beanie baby market. Not much different. Something you buy and put on a shelf.

I saw Michael from Small Laude's Channel. Got so curious about this guy, so here I am stalking his channel. LOL
The dial comes across as green, is that just the camera or is it a case of the color shifting over time? I like the pale metallic green but rolexes are a bit 1970 brutal in form. I like the color scheme of the AP, white and copper gold go pretty well together. My Tesla is white, I wear white pants, I like the bright cleanliness of white but it is a hefty watch. Like wearing an engine block or part of a safe :)
I enjoy your videos a lot and many times they are ready well balance. But in these videos the over exposed window in the background is for me really distracting and easy to fix by using studio lighting on your subject an your beautiful watches.

Great idea. It is interesting to see how both your's and Adam's tastes have changed. Speaking for myself, I have really gotten into independents.
