I agree with letting the mules rest on this job. Very kind for the father in law to loan you his equipment. Skyler is a smooth operator, no question. Nice video Zack!! Stay safe. Thanks for the video. Good job.
Yessir. One thing I learned a long time ago, to be a good teamster…you have to know how to help the animals on the big loads especially when they’ve gave you a good try and they can’t move it. Sometimes a snatch block is necessary. Sometimes limb rollers under a log is necessary. Sometimes a man needs more animals on the job. And then, sometimes a man flat needs to know when to get a machine in. So…that’s what we do. Now that we have the skid steer, that’ll help us on the ones that are really hard to get. Of course I’ve got two good colts coming along that’ll complete my logging team. Then I’ll have four good mules of my own to work. And that’ll be nice on the big loads and hills etc. They’ll pull what a small skidder can handle. But a man needs to be honest with himself at times to too keep the wood moving! Ya know? Anyway, thank you Mr Hall for the kind words! I appreciate it. I’ll look forward to talking with ya another time :)
@@zachodommulelogging yes sir Mr Odom I see how you treat your mules on your videos. You’re kind and gentle with Kate and Alice and I’m sure they will do all they can to get the job done. I’m looking forward to seeing the colts come around too. I was glad to see you bring that skid steer onboard. You’re right about keeping the wood moving. Your son Skyler is very patient and smooth. I could tell right away that he is taking care of that machine and letting it do the work. Skyler’s got good raisin, it shows, I know you’re proud of him. It takes a team doing what you’re doing to get the job done right, although you do pretty good on your own as well. I can’t thank you enough for your videos and kind words to me, I’m grateful. The other person running the cameras is doing an awesome job. What y’all are doin is much appreciated.
@@kennethhall5070thank you sir! We’re glad to do it. Sometimes my wife Marcy videos, and then sometime my oldest girl Savannah videos for us. I am thankful for them all. It really makes this TH-cam thing worth doing. Thank you kindly my friend. I really appreciate it.
Yes Mr Zack done a real good job on your video Skyler done a tremendous job sometimes you have to use modern technology to get your job done like you said you got to keep the logs moving still great video enjoyed it can't wait to get your next one your friend Billy
Thanks Mr Billy! I really appreciate your dedication to watching our videos and thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate it. Take care my friend
We’ve cut several on this job that were hollow in the butt. Sadly…but we’ve pressed on. Luckily these big pin oaks we cut were solid thru and thru. Thanks for watching
You had me worried, I thought you traded off the mules for the JD tractor! My Dad, years ago, sold our team of horses and bought a 53 JD tractor with all the attachments! Loved the horses! He's good, I was watching that he kept the forks forward as he lifted so the log didn't roll backwards, and something bad happen!
Oh no I wouldn’t ever trade the mules off. Heck I started with cable skidders and have went backwards as some people say lol. But I cherish the mules and love using them. They just need a hand every now and then. So we do what we have to too keep the wood moving. And thanks for the kind words on Skylar. He’s a good’un. Take care my friend and thanks for always watching!
If you absolutely have to you can load those big logs with the side loader with help from the tractor Tyler would be plenty good enough on the tractor You can pull with a chain from the off side or let Tyler help pick up from the finger side but them things hit the bosters really hard
Yessir we’ve done that a time or two but it is rough on the truck and loader…so we just cross haul. It’s easier on everything and everybody lol. But yessir, it’s another way of getting the job done if needed be. Thanks for watching my friend and the kind words!
Yessir you’re right. A pair of big pulling bred horses would’ve had trouble with these logs no doubt. Especially being uphill. It’s just so much harder going uphill. Thank you sir for the kind words as always and for watching. I really appreciate you.
Good job my Friend. My Dad told me to take of the equipment. When is broken down You or Owner of the are not making any money. I don't like to see equipment misused.
Yessir that is our thoughts as well. My equipment takes care of me, so I try my best to take care of it also. Thanks for the kind words and for watching
Glad you were able to borrow that tractor, nice job , stay safe , working hard always , enjoy , great video !
Thank you sir and yessir me too! We got the wood moved which is key and was safe doing it. Thank you for the kind words and for watching my friend!

To move these logs would have needed really big horses, much heavier than your mules, so it is realistic to use the tractor here.
