I own a $4000 altitude generator and have also practiced oxygen advantage. I rate OA as good if not better than the generator as breath hold conditions you to CO2 build up.
Other videos say the way you get sea level O2 pressure is to multiply 760 mmHg x .21 to get 160 mmHg as the partial pressure of oxygen at sea level. Yet your chart (and some others I've seen) give it as 100 mmHg. Why is that? Plus, I think pressure pretty much has a "1 over x" variation with altitude. Also, I think the red curve has a bad data point at 6000m because I think it's supposed to be an S-shaped curve. Just looking at the curve, I think the red dot at 6000m should be around 73%. But, I could be wrong...
NOT breath holding.. It's holding the "non breath" or the "void". Lungs devoid of air is nothing to hold! "Delayed" intake breathing, please correct this as it's very confusing. Basically exhale more than inhale; this essentially is the exercise. Train to strengthen this until it becomes more automatic. I discovered this years ago and have it committed same as muscle training. I found your book recently but the audio version is in dire need of editing, unless you can't sleep.. Training this can be explained in a sentence or two as above! Too many words only confuse and exhaust.
Thanks for your comments. I came here to criticize the fact this was 13 minutes of science and I really didn’t want to do after watching it. To clarify, I really just need to be practicing oxygen deprivation?
Is it ok to do this when your control pause is extremely low (1-4)? Is it bad if your heart rate increases because of it (sitting still, it's relatively low compared to my control pause though, between 65-75 usually, rising to 75-85 when doing breath holds)? Does the CO2 in the blood need to be higher than what's normal to us or higher than what's healthy? Why does it take a week? When some signs (regarding the spleen for example) are evident immediately. I can hold my breath for 30 seconds (my max) or breathe into a hypoxic mask at the most restricted setting for 10 minutes and nothing happens to SPO2 unfortunately.
If control pause is very low, then do this exercise. th-cam.com/video/J9RgpWyTgmk/w-d-xo.html But only hold the breath for 2 seconds. Practice for ten minutes every hour. Heart rate should not increase during teh exercise. Your control pause is very low- if you are taking it correctly. Please contact your doctor as steoids will be required to hep improve your breathing. The mask by itself does not lower blood oxygen saturation. if your control pause is so low, then dont even wear the mask. Your breathing is too unstable.
Is it possible for my SpO2 levels to drop too quickly? I bought The Oxygen Advantage and have read through it 70% so far. I have been practicing breath holding with my Oxymeter for about 2 weeks now to simulate altitude training for martial arts endurance. At rest my SpO2 levels are normal around 98%. With a medium walk around my property (HR around 100 bpm) I am able to hold my breath and watch my SpO2 levels routinely drop to 80% and often as low as 65% very easily. It almost seems too easy. The levels seem to drop very quickly and then rise back toward 90% when I continue breathing. My BOLT score is around 23-25. Should I have any concern that the levels drop very quickly? Could this be an indicator that I am doing it wrong or have some health issue? Or is it a good thing? Thanks.
Patrick, I've been using nasal breathing to help with occasional focal seizures .Would breath holding be Not a good idea conidering. I'm dealing with brain cancer.
Is a single session of 5 maximal breath holds daily adequate for increasing epo or is it preferable to do breath hold training two to three times daily ?
At 11 minutes he says it peaks at 3 hours after breath holding then back to normal 2 hours after that. If awake 16 hours a day maybe 4times to keep epo elevated as if wait 5 hours u are back to normal. I wonder if should do before going to sleep (maybe an hour before so can get to sleep) so when u are repairing in sleep u then produce the extra haemoglobin. Same for before a meal or half hour after so when u have or about to have a nutrient burst Ur body can use that and the epo to produce the haemoglobin. Even better 2 hours before so peak epo coincides with nutrients in blood post meal although Wether or not nutrients in blood related to when u eat I don't know.
At the end he says 15-20 minutes of Max breath holds. That's a bit tough to do 4 times a day maybe unless workout how to add to schedule, find activities u can do and do the breath holds at the same time. Daily commute maybe, brushing Ur teeth, watching TV or using computer.
Hi David, You'd want to be doing it twice a day, it's good not to over do it. It takes about four days for EPO to be produced in the bone marrow. Thanks, Darren
it's really worth watchin inyour scientific understanding what we are taught in rituals contain so much of science (iam regular pranayama doing fellow) Thanks sir,plz update more videos regarding.

Surprised why you call it breath holding sir. I believe you mean holding an exhale or holding after the exhale. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Dear Patrick, could you be more specific on the reference "Fortier E, Nadeau. Peterborough, Canada", please? I can't find the article anywhere.
8;40 the actual instruction on the breath-hold, breath in, breath out then no longer breath. Is the actual exercise
Wow! 10% increase in VO2 max in 8 weeks
Dr Patrick McKeown, do you thing practicing breath hold during the day of competitive competition can help or hurt performance?
I have type 1 diabete, well controlled. Why shouldn't I try this training if my bolt score is major than 20sec?

the square breathing exercise could help with this I guess, what do you think?
Really look forward to reading your book or paper on breath work. Lol
@6.50 how long did the haemoglobin levels stay increased by 6%?
Thanks for the information! It answers my questions about diving perfectly.

When I breathe into a plastic 1 liter bag though, I can bring the SpO2 down to 90 for 30 seconds, after a few minutes.
Only temporarily brings up CP though, after 10 minutes it's down again. So it might be unhelpful or even harmful in this way.

No it's not a good idea. Too much of a stress, also HIIT.
Running To The Sun What type of brain cancer?

Buy an oxymeter, then you know what works for YOU and at that moment.

@@OxygenAdvantage Thanks for replying. 👍🏻👍🏻
High attitude training ?

"high attitude"? 😄
