Andy, most informative and easy understanding instructions I've found on using my Kilo 2400ABS. I looked at this video when you first posted it shortly after purchasing my Kilo 2400ABS and return to it frequently to refresh my ability to use it. At 74 my memory needs a reboot occasionally and your video is in my TH-cam library. Senior moments are sometimes menacing! A belated thanks for making this video.
Thanks Andy for a great instructional video on this product. I want to make one comment that others might find helpful. When the user is orienting the Kilo 2400 ABS and turning the rangefinder the 3 orientations make note that the process only allows for the few seconds to turn each direction because the rangefinder disconnects to allow each orientation to lock in the information before "reconnecting" for the next directional orientation rotation. This has to be done each time until all three rotations are locked into the device. If you ignore this and just keep turning it the three ways not taking into account that it disconnects you're going to get pretty upset why the information doesn't seem to get inputted. It took me nearly an hour to figure this out. But... I must say this is a dynamite Rangefinder. Considerably more sophisticated than the G7-BR2 i've had up until this one came out.
I got this because it tells me accurately and reliably my most important to me, ballistic specification RANGE. I simply wouldn't have time to consider Coriolis effect or rifle pitch and still see that goat when I look up from phone. I'm sure it's awesome for competition but for me? No way. Wind is always shifting and swirling. You simply have a better shot bagging game which won't wait. Great range finder for that stands alonel
This was a very helpful video! Thank you for taking the time to explain all the intricacies of the BDX system. I just got mine and am looking forward to setting it up tomorrow.
Andy, this is very helpful, concidering iam very old and not a wiz with new things. my son gave me a new 1600 Kelo, not the 2400, have you done a vedio on them. i found this on on accident by luckly search. great vedio. thanks John Marschall.
Great video thank you much, this rangefinder is awesome 👌 made a longrange hunter out of an average guy like me. Some practice and im getting first round hits at 1000y
So maybe I've missed it but I dont recall any insight on environmental factors other than wind. Once the ballistic info is loaded into the unit, does it take into account for real time temperature, altitude, dew point etc....meaning is there an actual sensor in the unit that takes into account all those environmental factor each time you range a a target?
Andy, well done video. Thanks for your time. One thing that came to mind was that you mention things like "until you get out to fairly long range" but then you don't explain or give an example of what that is. The new guy may think that 600yds is "fairly long." So, when does fairly long start? Mark
When selecting wind direction are you considering the direction the wind is coming from or to? Say 3 o'clock is wind coming from the right or blowing to the right?
Hey themotownmarty, how was yer experience speaking to the optics department at sig? I also had to call and the guy I talked to treated me like crap. He made me feel stupid to be honost. I'm wondering what kind of experience you had. I'm seriously considering getting rid of my M400, P365XL, & 1911. It's a shame, really. I love their guns and shoot mostly Sig. My Supernova is my only stay. That's what I get for being loyal, i guess.
@@georgejoseph4164 Hi George, I just did a firmware update today for my Kestrel 5700 elite Ballistic. They finally allow a tech connection between the Kestrel and the Sig Kilo 2400 ABS. I have not set it up, but may get it done this weekend. They also have a list of other electro-optical rangefinders that can be connected to the Kestrel.
I am a hunter and being able to carry a single unit and push only one button to immediately get a ballistic solution is very valuable to me so for that reason I prefer the KILO 2400 over the Kestrel with AB.
Hey Andy. Question. I like the fact that you can point an laze targets an this device will give you a firing solution. What I don't like is using a smart phone in this process. Once you build gun profiles, do you still need to take smart phone with you on your hunt to use this kilo 2400? I see it is displaying a ballistic solution in the kilo 2400 so why have it displayed on your phone too???
LongRangeHunting Okay that's awesome so if I understand this kilo will figure atmospherics like baro, air density, heading, steep angle solutions all in the push of a button without having to have that dang phone with me? Shut up an take my money...Lol
If you have your profile selected in the rangefinder and it says PRO1, etc. then I don't have any idea unfortunately. Call Sig customer service. They'll help you out.
Received kilo thanks. I did get charged twice but we are in contact with PayPal to get a refund. The refund hasn't hit our account yet. Hey my question is this, I have a kestrel AB an now the kilo an phone ballistics apps. The kestrel is more accurate so I wanted to calibrate the kilo an when I go to the section under were you enter different m.v. for temperture changes...the drop scale won't open for me. At 1,000 yards my kestrel called for 9.8 mils an the kilo said 10 mils so I wanted to calibrate it to 9.8. Can you call me or text me to run me thur it? I know you explained that this unit would do it but you left out how to do it...loL thanks.
Let me know if we can help in any way on the Paypal refund. What you want to do is "Calibrate" your KILO 2400. I will be publishing a video in the next day or two showing how to calibrate. It's very simple. The idea is to do the calibration process right as you're shooting so the KILO can incorporate the environmentals. Basically you have to have your phone connected to your KILO, then go into the ballistic profile you want to calibrate and hit "Calibrate" in the upper right. Then range two different targets at different distances and enter your actual dope at each range into the appropriate spots on the calibration page. It gives you suggested (long) distances to calibrate at which are the distances where the bullet goes from supersonic to transonic and then where it is subsonic. If you don't plan to shoot that far you can use any two distances you want. Then you can choose to have the muzzle velocity automatically adjusted which is what you would choose if only shooting within the supersonic speeds, or if planning to shoot into transonic and subsonic flight then you should choose the drop scale factor calibration. The muzzle velocity temp table is a more advanced option that I honestly don't plan to use and haven't had a chance to learn about yet.
LongRangeHunting Cool. Thank you. I will wait for your video...I think my wife has the PayPal folks helping get a refund...unfortunately they take the money out faster than they put it back...loL
LongRangeHunting Man if you were here in Wyoming, I'd kiss you. Your directions were spot on an now the kilo is matching kestrel AB..4500. Thanks bunches. Now it did switch what was profile 1 168 grn Berger an profile 2 178g honady, some how profile 2 became one an it had me biting my lip for a while cause it wasn't matching kestrel. Thats because unit was on profile 2 an some how profile one was now the 178g profile....loL I'm sure it was me messing something up but I don't know how I did it. Think it was because I turned off profile one which was the 168g an profile 2 178g became profile 1. When I turned the 168g back on, it switched them back to right order. You said to look an make sure your on the right profile in your video...Now I know why. LoL But when I seen the 178g became profile 1 an the unit was on profile one it all lined up. Hahaha. By the way PayPal gave me back the money today...wheew.

I wish they have a video like this for kilo6 great video and very clear explanation thank you
You are AWESOME! Thank you so much for a very calm, concise, and detailed vid

Thanks for the heads up on that LongRanger.
Excellent Review! Struggled to figure mine out today and actually had to call Sig in Oregon with some questions. I wish I had found your review first!

Well done on the video. You made navigation through the stages simple. Thank you
That was awsome!! Sig sauer should pay you!!

Thank you for the helpful video.
Excellent content here
Andy- thanks for this great video but will you do one on the profile calibration aswell please??. I’ve asked doc to help me but with no luck.

1000 yards or more
When selecting wind direction are you considering the direction the wind is coming from or to? Say 3 o'clock is wind coming from the right or blowing to the right?
Second question does the wind meter that attaches to phone communicate direction and speed?
yes, l keep an old school iPhone 5se with my profiles loaded on that in case I ever lose my phone. it's a tiny phone with great Bluetooth
When does the calibrate feature come into play with the ballistic profile itself?
🙏 thank you
You have manually adjust the windage?it doesn't say it for you

I HAVE A 1800 ,ARE THEY ABOUT THE SAME
Can it connect to my kestrel to load winds or feed the kestrel with appropriate distance and target azimut ?
No, it doesn't, other Sig optics do so fingers crossed....

No need to bring phone on a hunt. Phone is only needed to create profiles and sync (send) them to the KILO 2400.

That's right. We've got them in stock. www.longrangehunting.com/store/sig-sauer-kilo-2400.html
Quick question, I have my profiles built and selected in the rangedinder, also its on LOS and it doesn't give me my holds? Any idea

Great information just next time hold your phone horizontally to record video.
EXACTLY, so hard to watch!!
