- In a casual game like Plants VS Zombies 2, you end up with a wide variety of plants. And these plants do a wide amount of useful things. From producing sun, to shooting peas, to whatever else, they can do a ton of unique things, and this obviously leads to people being incorrect about how good some plants truly are, leading to plants being severely underestimated.
This is a video about a bunch of plants that are all underrated, and how they be. also if you read descriptions subscribe i guess i honestly forget to shill myself half the time i make a video so that's cool and funny

Hey, I don't think bowling bulbs and chard guard are underrated. This two has their own strat like bowling bulb as DPS in certain arena buff/bruise and chard guard is one of the strat where ppl throw zombie off screen and killing it
I think its really funny how many of the big wave beach plants are actually really good its just theyre introduced in a world that is absolutely awful to them

iirc reflourished has a level in the egypt expansion that requires protecting 4 bowling bulbs, and they arent bad there, further proving the point
i know we arent talking about arena mode here, but coconut cannon is actually kinda OP in arena mode. the plant food pushes zombies to the back, where they give the most points, and then its a huge damage explosion, not to mention that it already kills groups of zombies really fast on its own.
Bowling Bulb is also surprisingly good too. Tile Turnip + Bulb + Power Lily = Alternative to Pea Vine/MGP/Torchwood

I have no idea why Guacodile has a ranged attack, it's so counterintuitive. With the ranged attack, you want to place it in the back to take advantage of it, but its melee only works up close, so it wants to be placed at the frontlines! This is probably why people are so confused about it.
It's probably because of the big wave beach, the beach's main purpose was to pierce through defences, and common players always place their ranged plant to defend their Sunflowers (In an era where Sunflower are always on the back), also Guacodile is a cheap frontline plant which could protect more expensive plant like Banana Launcher and Bowling Bulb because back then players like to use cheaper plants like peashooter to protect their stronger plant
Really? I’ve always seen Guacodile as a melee plant first, and his seeds were just a bonus attack should the zombies not reach him yet
Parsnip is like a guacadile that makes sense. A combo of a melee attack and a death rush both encourage frontline use, so it is very obvious how to use it.
same for pea-nut, but that has high health instead of a melee attack.
I use them in both scenarios, just to have an insurance to weak zombies getting through thanks to hordes. Kinda works.

I don't think so, when talking about defensive plants, the majority always brought up Infi-nut and its PF. Also, I watched a vid that did a survey asking which are the most OP plants and Chad God isn't even Top 20
When I first started playing PvZ2 and saw chard guard in videos I was like “it just pushed back zombies a couple tiles? trash”. But when I actually got to Frostbite Caves, I saw how useful it was, and it’s been a favorite of mine since
@@ahuman32478 yeah, char guard is immensely useful against Gargantuars where your plants can’t kill it before he kills them. He usually pushes the Gargantuars right before he is smashed so it’s even more helpful…just don’t plant it right in front of the Gs or they’ll smash him before he pushes them
Honestly at first glance I hated it just because its ridiculously long cd for a very temp plant. That’s why primal has always been better for me (besides arena)
I just met someone on Creep's "Overrated Plants" video who just disses Chard Guard just because it can only push zombies 3 times

To be honest, I use Bowling bulb on Arena more than I have expected specially during those plant food use when planting them. Really clears out a lot, I mean A LOT of Zombies on Arena. The bounce explosive really made me rise from wooden to bronze silver league
Banana is so underrated. It’s absurdly strong, really fun to use, and is just adorable. I’m honestly upset you unlock it so extremely late as I would love to use it a lot more than we really get to

I think another underrated one from my experience is rotobaga. If i hadn't seen your vid on Big Wave Beach, i would have NEVER thought to bring it and allow me to win (relatively) painlessly since it's a strong option to drop in the front half of the lawn that you're not gonna be using otherwise and the fact it ignores water...i love it
I have to agree mate. Other than those you mentioned, it is also helpful against backward zombies attacking the left side of your lawn. I think most Frostbite Caves obtained plants are considered underrated as well.

The only reason i've never really used Chard Guard is because I primarily use defensive plants in conjunction with melee plants, which makes Chard Guard counter-intuitive.
Chard Guard seems like it's supposed to be used with plants like infinut, levitater and primal pea shooter,
As the knockback helps them to do what they are meant to do.
Also Chard Guard is a cheap and effective counter against flying zombies, backline intruders and Jurassic Bullies,
Which is a niche that makes Jurassic Marsh so much more manageable.
@@BramLastnameI am a Chard Guard user and I use it in conjunction with infi-nut in order to create very reliable stalling lasting almost the entire game. I also use banana launcher as a main attacker so having them clump up every zombie makes it insanely satisfying

@@BramLastname as the video said, you just use the bananas in half decent spots and suddenly the game is over. That's especially true if you greed as much sun as you can early on, I've finished a good amount of levels with 2 rows of Banana Launchers and by then all thought leaves in favour of babana

my favorite part of chard guard is the fact that it completely counters chickens and weasels
Guacodile is like the Bladesinger in DnD: it can do ranged damage to those who haven't reached it yet, but when they are...oh, they'll regret it.

I feel like bowling bulb is only underrated because it’s homeworld is big wave beach, which has consistent buckethead spam so it can’t regain its large bulb, alongside the difficulty of using instant use plants

Gonna say it because apparently this is unknown. Chardgard is one of the best plants because of it's hidden ability. It can be repaired with the Repair Nut Perk. So you can plant another one on the original to heal it, plus plant food repairs it as well, making the plant harder to kill if used right.
Repairing is worse than shoveling the plant and then replanting it because you don't receive % of the sun back. This ability is pretty much useless unless you have protecting the plant or don't lose more than x plants as an objective. You can also make a point that repairing is easier and faster but like meh, it's half a second

Chard Guard also matches up well against a lot of annoying Zombies,
Most notably Jurassic Bully, Chicken Wrangler, Prospector and most Gargantuars.
@@BramLastname I've beat Ancient Egypt day 23 with chard guard and I have to say. Chard guard is not that good with gargs. Maybe because I'm using it like an instant. But Gargs usually just smash the chard guard before it pushes back
i thought everyone used chard guard not gonna lie. I def think its amazing but i just prefer the other walls.

I mainly use the noob strategy of planting sunflowers in the back row and always won with a variety of plants. That's why it was weird for me to see Boiling Bulb, the Guacodile and the Coconnut cannon in the list 😂😂😂
a lot of these plants are great as long as you know how to print sun like US department of treasury prints money, a skill many newer players don't immediately grasp.
also, I don't think magni really forces the player to run it as the sole damage dealer. you can use it with literally anything as long as you can produce enough sun, and even as a pseudo insta, due to its cheap cost and fast recharge, similar to guac, but with more focus on single target damage. sometimes it's even preferable to use it with some aoe plant because wasting 50 sun on basics and 100 on coneheads can be draining if the level is spammy enough.

I actually hate using Magnifying Grass for this very reason. I stock up tons of sun to spam Turnip Tiles for enhanced spam, so it directly runs counter to my goals
I like mag in early game and then using it on the stronger enemies later on as I set up stuff like winter melon as I ramp sun by spamming sun shrooms
Magni, similar to Banana, pairs up really well with Laser Bean, even a single line of Beans is enough to clean up all the basics.
For me if a plant is really really good even if it gets outclassed then it's underrated if majority of community considers it bad.
Most underrated plants are usually hard to use plants that are really good or really good plants that still manage to get outclassed.
Or it's just a plant having a 2nd trait (such as guacodile being a peashooter) that is useless making others not focus on the good trait.
I use coconut cannon quite a lot when replaying the game but then other plants that outclass it appear and then it's ditched. This is what sucks.
Wait chard guard is underrated? I thought most people knew it was good, even Wolfy Playz figured out it is good and he is normally not that good at PvZ.
Banana Launcher is an extremely good plant but it's a harder (but not too hard) to use plant but since it appears so late you don't have time learn how to use it to it's fullest potential

I recognize that Banana is a good plant,
But as someone who's not great at managing manual plants,
I prefer Coconut Cannon over Banana.
Tho I dislike Magni, despite it's easy usage,
Because if I've got the sun to use it
I could just use it on improving my defence or instas.
So Magni just feels like it's a hassle.

I just feel that the linear adventure kinda breaks the game, since any important improvement in the worlds wasn't made, and plant unlocking became a little confusing (principally due to locked and loaded levels showing future plants), and after the adventure ends, the only possible way to test your plants is penny's pursuit, since arena is just op plant spam...

I genuinely don't get how people underrate chard guard so badly. It's one of the strongest "walls" in the game, and it's one of the most versatile plants too. The only place it struggles at all is in Neon Mixtape. It has some amazing synergies like with primal potato or even infi-nut. There's honestly so few plants that don't benefit from chard in some way.
I'd also like to add that banana launcher is a pretty nice bonus pick even when your team isn't built around it. You could start bringing it in late game to snipe zombies that really mess with you like octopus, wizard, etc.

not sure if its too effective but i find using gaucodile + hurrikale together to be really fun
While they don't synergise directly,
They both allow you to have more control over your lanes,
So it's not a bad combo,
Since you can Hurricale one row,
And then Guacodile another row.

For me Guacodile is a FRONTER plant. Like it's so forward it goes in front of the Wall-nuts so that it still shoots but it does have the capability to rush down lane if things go a bit haywire. But hey you can still plant it directly on top of a zombie to deal direct damage.
I disagree with the fact that Magnifying Grass can only be used as a main attacker. Yes, it can be used as a main attacker, but it also works as a support plant. If you only place 2 columns of sun producers, then Magni becomes a great support plant that can eliminate dangerous threats that your main attackers can’t handle. If you spam sun producers, then Magni becomes a main attacker.
Bananna launcher does the same thing though he's way more expensive.

You're pretty much describing my reflourished strategy. Sad to think just how much synergy there is between the big wave beach plants, and just how hostile of an environment it is for them.

As someone who mainly uses Winter Melons as my main attacking plant, with Gold Bloom and Imitated Gold Bloom acting as bursts of sun for planting early level... I'm surprised to hear it's underrated. I honestly feel like Winter Melon is my crutch sometimes, since I rarely go any level without it in levels where I pick my plants. The slowing effect and heavy damage is just too valuable.
My ideal crew for the gargantuar-only level- kernel-pult, primal peashooter and chard guard. Together these plants form an impenetrable wall of pure solid cheese.

Ok what if a modded version of the game had it so bowling bulb need you to press on it to release the bulbs and you could wait for the high damage ones to come back obviously it would still need adjustment but I think that’s a good way of getting more people to like and use it or just give it to them earlier
Eclise makes it so that the bowling bulb can only see a couple tiles in front of him. That way, he can regen his bigger bulbs a lot easier and thus, more damage!
Making bulb a manual plant kinda removes his whole downside... it'd become too strong and less complex.

I'm surprised you placed Chard Guard on this list since I thought people unanimously understood it was a contender for the best plant in the game. Either way, good video. Still don't think Bowling Bulb is that underrated given just how nieche it is though.
Also, absolutely love Banana Launcher. It flips the progression of a level on its head making it pretty difficult to control early on but already solved when you get enough Launchers.
Banana launcher made me feel like its just a coconut cannon that has full range of all rows, i also liked the sound like “Banana!” It made. It was the best plant to beat with 1 slot.

Honestly, I love Coconut Cannon. Both him and Winter Melon are my main damage dealers for Terror from Tomorrow and, if boosted, he can outright solo it.
The fact that people underrate all the bwb plants is interesting cos it shows how terrible that world was at this introducing the plants to the player

I use coconut cannon for arena, until today, though im still in wood league. As long as it is supported by other plants while on cooldown, such as ones that do AOE damage. Its op in my opinion. In 2 days i gathered over 105 crowns which in thought was alot

fun fact: if you convert the amount of sun you get from one sun to make it 25, along with dividing every plants cost by 2 because you would still have to collect the same amount of sun (for example peashooter would be 50 as you would normally collect 2 sun to buy one with 50 sun meta), plants like winter melon and banana launcher which are really expensive, only cost 250, which is cheaper that a threepeater from pvz1
But the amount of zombies in this game is also a lot so a 50 sun meta fits just perfect also sun producers dont drop their first sun as soon as plants in the first game did
@@thunderred5263 However there's much more sun producers in pvz2 than in pvz1. I think there Are 12 in Pvz2 whilst there were only 3 in pvz1

Chard Gourd is a default in my setup whenever there are hard zombies nor flying zombies which most wallnut types suck at protecting or stall.
All of these plants are my favorite plants to use on levels, even though I haven't went to arena mode yet. Winter Melon, Coconut Cannon, and Banana Launcher are plants that are just completely ignored just because they are more expensive when planted when they have actual more power than most plants. Winter Melon does both chilling and heavy damage like in the original game which is completely powerful when used in endless survival mode, Coconut Cannon and Banana Launcher packs the massive damages to their targets, even in groups.
For Bowling Bulb, they are very helpful to me in spending sun limit and last stand levels in adventure mode. Their Plant Food is a bonus in killing groups of zombies easily.
Guacodile is also a fun to use plant. I actually find this plant amazing especially when I played Neon Mixtape Tour and Frostbite Caves levels since their rushing attack can cause bigger damage to zombies ahead of them.
Chard Guard is my absolute favorite defensive plant. Their knockback attacks can also stall zombies over time and have higher health than normal plants when they have no more leaves to push back. They are best when stalling weaker health zombies like chickens, weasels, and even weaker imps.
that's a lot of powerups in those clips...
i got the guacodille in frost bite caves by collecting the seed packets and it was so helpful due to zombies stacking in one lane...

Cabbage is technically an ok choice for 3 entire levels. Phat Beat can attack radio zombies, and current is there too.
Banana launcher was the thing I was most excited about unlocking in bwb
Coconut cannon is very useful in arena when you need to get a bunch of points because it can clear whole lanes
