      LEGACY Stealerships LIKE Hybrids , because they Require way more Maintenance than ANY very Crappy BEV.
      they breakdown more often , cost Consumer MORE to Maintain.
      even the WORST BEV by Legacy auto , is still better than any Hybrid or ICE car.
      but, a TESLA is a Whole class of BEV , compare to Everything else.

    Hey SMR, I drive a Tesla Model X and a long term bull. My wife drives a BMW hybrid SUV and its ‘vibrator size battery’ has the capacity of about 40 miles. This takes care of her daily driving needs, including 90% of the other drivers out there. Any long-distance drive with the Tesla has always been a nightmare. With the hybrid, you get the best of both worlds. I’m sure eventually, there would be as many charging stations as gas stations. As a consumer, I would never get two electric cars for our family (at least not for the next five years). If the electric grid goes down, one can depend on gas and vice versa. So I believe there’s a huge market for hybrid. !!

    Hybrids actually make a lot of sense - as long as the cost of the full EV battery is well over twice the cost of an engine. Unfortunately the cost of a full EV battery is probably close to a third of the cost that it would have been a decade ago. I suspect that there is still a premium of the cost of the full EV + electric motor over a gas motor but it is smaller than the cost premium of the rest of an ICE vehicle over the cost of a giga-casting based EV.

And whilst BEVs are great they don't yet come in all form factors, towing capacity etc. I have a friend (in Sydney) who recently bought a Mazda PHEV, he was open to a BEV but could not find one that met his quite reasonable criteria. It had to be powerful enough to tow his boat but also the "power to tare mass ratio" had to be low enough that his kids on their P-plates could legally drive the vehicle. There was no BEV that met both criteria.

    The 1970s brought significant changes to interest rates due to rising inflation. In response, the Federal Reserve, under Paul Volcker's leadership, implemented aggressive monetary policies, which led to a surge in interest rates in the early 1980s. By 1981, the prime rate reached a historical peak of 20%.
    From the mid-1980s to the late 1990s, interest rates gradually declined as inflation was brought under control and the economy stabilized.

    Robotaxi is following Elon’s ethos “the best part is no part”. “The best car is no car” means that you can cover the transport needs of most metropolis areas with a few thousand Robotaxi vs everyone owning a car. There’s around 300 metro areas in US with over 100,000 people. They could be covered with 2-5 million robotaxis (approx 10,000 per large metro on average)
    The only people needing cars are those who specifically want/need them or people in the less dense populations that don’t have robotaxi coverage. Robotaxi will probably be and a separate product and people will not be able to sign up their existing cars to be part of a fleet. Also, for this to work, it will need to be on par with public transport and cheaper than car ownership so expect ride prices to be low and not at existing taxi levels, in the long run

    Remember that Tesla is training for robo-taxi. So I'm not sure if driving into your personal driveway and parking in your personal garage is a priority for them. It would be great but why waste effort now on that? Also if they are soon going to solve for full level 4 or 5 autonomy, where you do not have to pay attention to the road, why would they take the effort to have the car communicate its intentions to you?
    In other shows you have explained why the monitor cannot display what the car is actually seeing and what it might be taking into consideration. How then would the car be able to tell you what it is thinking of doing and why it might be hesitating before taking an action? Wouldn't that be very difficult and again why bother if soon it will be fully autonomous?
    This is pretty much a "black box" we are talking about.
    Finally a lot of your choices have to do with your own driving style and preferences but are not necessarily driving problems. If you were in the back seat reading a book would you even notice or care if the car doesn't get into the least stacked up lane? A bit neurotic are we? I also resemble that remark BTW. 😉

It’s the reason Uber drivers choose hybrid, due to practical cost advantages. And there are still valid concerns of EV charging infrastructure, range and performance, especially in cold climates, and real depreciation concerns of EV vehicles (that's just a reality of exponential EV production).

    • @axiomic
      @axiomic หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@patrutherford9600 I don't disagree that an EV will have better performance and efficiency for most people.
      But a hybrid will have much better performance and efficiency compared to the equivalent ICE vehicle. I've compared the same models in ICE and hybrid variants, the hybrid is much more efficient (20-30%) and faster accelerating. Win Win. And as stated, without the range anxiety or worry of charging infrastructure, cold weather, or even poorer towing performance of EVs. Toyota is the master of hybrids, where even their 15-20 yr old hybrids are still reliable, so the complexity of two powertrains is almost a non issue (for Toyota at least).
