The Langer's #19 is an amazing sandwich. (I had 2 last week.) Now, I have to make your recipe. I swear, I can smell and taste the sandwich you're making.
wait wait wait - your comparison is a previously-warm, takeout sandwich that's been sitting around, and then "yours" just uses their own pastrami freshly heated up...?
Growing up in the 1950s, my favourite Cole Slaw was Nate n' Al's. We had an account there and later on in the 60s when I was driving, I'd frequently be tasked with picking some up. But my best sandwich was from a little deli in Sherman Oaks on Van Nuys Blvd (gone now, of course): hot pastrami w/melted Swiss on lightly toasted rye with cole slaw (or potato salad) on the side. Always with a well-done pickle which are also gone now. Those bottom-of-the-barrel pickles had been pickling since the 1940s, but by about the time they got all the lead out of gasoline, they were mostly gone. Haven't had a really good pickle since. Say, you don't suppose there's any correlation?
This is the same thing as a sandwich from Capriotti's called a "Capastrami," except the bread. Been eating them for 30 years so I wonder who's came first. The Capriotti's in Vegas would use bread from Great Buns Bakery and it was the best sandwich ever. Cap's in different cities use different bread and it really impacts the experience to where I don't really crave it like when I was in Vegas (for what they charge nowadays especially.) All in all, the combo of Pastrami / Slaw / Russian / Swiss on good bread is amazing. And you're right, the crispy outside, soft fluffy inside is super important.
Ironically the day that I watched this video the first time we had planned on going to a NY-style deli here in Central FL and I ended up ordering this exact sandwich but it was turkey instead of Pastrami (I don't eat beef or pork). It was SO GOOD.
so she assembled a sandwich using langer’s pastrami then declared herself the winner of a taste test comparing a fresh warm sandwich with a cold, several hours old sandwich… this was so pointless??
I've never had Langer's but shout out to a spot in LA that knows what Russian dressing is. I live in San Diego now, but I was in LA for almost 15 years and I've never once heard of a spot that has Russian dressing southern CA. I only know how to make it because I grew up in NY. I've turned my coworkers onto it for salads and burgers, and they don't understand why it's mostly an East coast condiment because they love it.
@@MrDukeSilverr When I read the title “make a Langer’s sando”, I immediately figured she was trying show us how to construct or build one… Or at least that’s the takeaway I got. Probably just trying to show us how to make at home. Of course we need a good source for the pastrami. Bread probably not so hard to find. Didn't brad have a pastrami incident?

@@emd4682 no, she said she'll show you how to make the langer's sandwich at home. pastami, swiss, slaw, russian dressing is a pretty standard combo... It's obviously going to be better cause it's fresh out the oven vs take out that sat during filming...
Yeah, this reminds me so much of those TH-camrs who remake another TH-camr's food. In that situation, I never understand how it is that not plagiarism? In this case, Molly is just riding a wave...
@@lorenzosorice I mean no offense but did you expect her to make pastrami from scratch? That’s like a multi day process including brining, cooking and then smoking. @@virginiaf.5764 I often wondered that. It isn't really clear what she did to make it better. She used pastrami purchased from Langer's, right? And made the cole slaw taste as similar as possible. Maybe she used better cheese?
I cannot stand when people abbreviate words like this. Mozz for mozzarella;pep for pepper; veg for vegetables. Too many to list. Also, people call inanimate objects “she”
….you literally just assembled a sammich. Only real “unique” thing was a very basic dressing. I’m very confused how this video was sent out without a proper way to not even homemake pstarami, but even how your average person could get quality pastrami. ( That’s a much higher quality than a supermarket deli.) 🤔
I was hoping that you were going to show how to make the actual Langer's pastrami. We moved across the country and there's no decent deli food here. The "pastrami" here is lean, dry, thin cut. Horrible. I did like how you prepared the bread so thanks for that.
Wait! Where did the pastrami come from? You just bought some substandard pastrami from the grocery store? Dammit. I got suckered into this one thinking I would actually learn some thing about making pastrami. I should have known. Now I’m just angry with myself. 🤨

Love this episode and your energy! Reminded me of a similar sandwich served at Katz Deli in New York.

She made thousand island dressing and not Russian dressing
She used store bought bread and pastrami, not sure how she made it better other than having the bead hot out of the oven.
she also didnt make the pastrami herself, whats the point?
