Inspiring to see you guys defy the odds. Here in temperate and sub tropical Australia I can only admire your keen desire to get on the water. Well done. I'm sure that a small fire and morning coffee in such a pristine environment would make for a great morning. Cheers from Oz.

And here I was thinking it might be too cold to try out my new kayak in Tennessee since it will be 61F/16C. Thank you for proving my wrong! I will be on the water New Years Day 😊

This seems fun but you definitely need to know what you are doing. As a new kayaker. This is thrill to watch

Looks like hard work. You'd better not get stuck in that ice, right?

Thought i was the only one playing icebreaker with my kayak. I love kayaking in all weather but extreme cold makes it challenging. My hands are about the only thing I can't reliably keep warm. Pogies are a pain

For me, Unger neoprene gloves (meant for window cleaners) over thin woolen liner gloves work well in sub freezing temperatures. They keep me reliably warm even when liners are soaked. Can be bought from window cleaners supply stores.
I've also tried divers' gloves but find them to clumsy
