A civil war has broken out in Sudan, famine is looming, a genocide is underway in Darfur, all while the international community turns a blind eye or is directly profiting from the conflict, Sudan is collapsing, here’s why.

@CognitoEdu Please make a video on the Students of Bangladesh. Nearly a thousand of them were killed in span of last week by their own government! 🙏🏾 Footage from Bangladesh looks like a warzone! The government has gone mad and declared war against its own future generation 😢
I've seen. Truly crazy looking scenes coming out of Bangladesh, it's painful to see 😢. I hope things calm down quickly.
@@CogitoEduplease do a video about that.
@@CogitoEdu I hope so as well! I have family in Bangladesh and I am extremely worried about their safety. Under no circumstances should students be shot at. Anyways I found your channel from your video on Bengal and became an instant fan. I watched all your videos and look forward to any and all future videos. I hope in this dire time of Bengal, you will once again step in and shed light and raise awareness. When government murders its own civilians, international community is all the civilians have to hope for any kind of justice!
All the best to you! May you prosper in life.

They'd both rather be king of a graveyard than let a nation exist under someone else... it's horrifying.

@@fernbedek6302 I wouldn't mind sitting on a graveyard worth Billions. Nobody would. To say otherwise would be highly dishonest. And workers you can get from anywhere.
Even if the entire Sudanese population was to perish, whoever sits on top can import unlimited labor from Asia.
The world is a nasty place. People tend to forget that.
@@Hugebull There's a difference between finding an abandoned graveyard and creating the graveyard. Because a vast number of people are simple and mean-spirited. If people are being racist in the comments, just downvote, report and move on imo.

is this a religious conflict in any way ? do you think the UN isnt helping because now the UN is basically controlled by arabs?
To the man who said that he can only die once. You will never truly die as long as I live, I will keep your memory alive forever.
This conflict is mind blowingly complicated. But at the end of the day both the RSF and the SAF are throwing the people of the country under the bus for their own enrichment. So sorry for the all the Sudanese people fought for to bring down Al Basheer.
As a Sudanese American I thank you Kathy for your support words for Sudanese people whom are very hungry people for freedom and democracy and I hope who ever won the next election in US could do something positive for those very peaceful nation and have a bilateral relationship between the two great nations.
It's ethnic conflict underneath the details
I mean the RSF is a militia militia.
@@Tiga-og2mz Sorry to say that that is very unlikley as the US played a major role in starting this conflict to prevent the building of a russian naval base in Suakin.
What a crazy but great way to look at death. It only happens once, so no matter how awful it is you'll never have to repeat it. Once it is over, its over. That's somehow very bleak but oddly comforting.
But there are worse ways to go imo
It's the worst thing that happens. Inevitability does nothing to alleviate the horror. People are engineered to not really confront that horror because once you really grasp it it's all you think about.
#YODO
Black Africans need to call Israel. They put the fear of god in Arabs. You got to have collective punishment with Arabs
Perhaps, and rather sadly so, for the men and young boys it is fast but the women, they suffer far far worse and that's a fate worse than death.

Isn’t it hard to collapse when you’re at rock bottom to begin with?
one thing I do want to say, and this is just from my view, is that most people throw their "support" to the SAF because the SAF is basically made up of the people. I know it sounds a bit odd, but people have to remember is that while the RSF is a made up of mercenaries who give loyalty for money, the Army gets its force from Civilian recruits(your uncle,brother,cousin,etc...) who join it as a patriotic act to protect their people and Land. the people's "loyalty" are to the armed force not the Armed command.
I mean the chants kinda says it "the Army to the barracks, and the RSF to dissolve".
army not represent sudanese , all our problem is coming from this militia called national army
For as bad as the SAF is, they aren't the ones openly committing genocide for no reason.
exactly! and at the end of the day, while we want a democratic state eventually, the SAF has to win this war first so we avoid the worst case scenario (which is, the RSF completely taking over)
@@omarmansuri7099
The RSF is backed by Israel, thats why they support genocide.
19:05 The way ALL of them raised their hands at that question is absolutely chilling
Dear Cogito. I am a Sudanese living in Europe and have watched you for years. Thank you for this high quality, well researched video and for spreading awareness about my country❤
my boyfriend was at the protests at the university of Khartoum he said it was planned, that there was a reason the prison was right behind the university with a government building in front. when they protested he said the military raced to detain as many students put them in prison and rush back to either kill or detain more. 2 years later they gave him the chance to come back to sudan to continue his education. just months after classes started again the military came in once more to detain anyone that was against them. they paid off the teachers to rat out certain students and faculty. it was all a trap always was.
1:47 "The strange thing is all this started at as an inspiring story of success" No-one who knows anything about the history of revolutions will find this strange
Why?
@huntthebug9744 Revolutions usually end in one of two scenarios
Scenario 1: Elements of the regime remove the figurehead and try to carry on governing. See Egypt 2011, Russia March 1917 and Sudan 2019
Scenario 2: The regime is completely overthrown and the revolutionaries take power. See France 1789, Haiti 1804 and Iran 1979
In scenario 1, the revolutionaries will continue to fight to point it usually dissolves into civil war. If the new government is weak it will collapse and lead to scenario 2
In scenario 2, the revolutionaries will begin impose revolutionary violence on the populace. This will start with those associated with the regime but then one faction looks to secure it's power by eliminating its rivals.
These scenarios spark reactions and counter-reactions which are only exacerbated if the groups are divided on racial, ethnic, national and/or religious lines. This doesn't even begin to take into account the interests of outside powers.
Tldr; most revolutions end in civil war, mass atrocities and a worst dictatorship then what the country began with. So a fourth and then fifth revolution/coup in a country not even 70 years old was always going to end like this.

I reject the assertion that Sudan is collapsing. Collapsing is implying that Sudan was somewhat put together enough before to collapse.
UAE 🇦🇪 is responsible Sudan massacre. But UAE are destroying Ethiopia too for example Tigray genocide and currently Amhara genocide. UAE supplies Abiy chemical weapons
Britain didn't draw the borders of Sudan, they inherited it when Britain took Sudan from Ottoman Turkey-Egyptian rule. Sudan (which was known as Sennar in the Central, Darfur in the West, and other territories) was conquered by Mohammed Ali Pasha, an Albanian Turk who ruled Egypt.
From 1821-1899, Sudan was under Turko-Egyptian rule, then there was a brief independence movement in Sudan called Mahdism, and then it was Anglo-Egyptian rule. It would have been good context to include in your video.
Not true. They only occupied the red sea side of sudan. Like Suakin port town
@blue-re4ds they literally conquered Sennar in the 1820s and Darfur (West Sudan), Equatoria, Upper Nile, & Bahr al Ghazal (South Sudan) in the 1870s, a little over a decade before British rule in 1899.
@moah2012 you are correct that the ottomans had a bit to do with current shape of Sudan but it really was the british who had the most effect on the current borders. The ottomans didnt really control much and by the mid/late 1890s the Mahdist sorta seized controll till 99.

Politics have always been about interests. There have pretty much never been politics centered around humanitarianism and morals
People like to say Israel-Palestine is "incredibly complicated" to understand, but Sudan (and most other conflicts tbh) make that one seem completely straightforward
It is straight forward. The country is basically a feudal kingdom with warlords fighting over the resource centers. They're even killing eachothers peasants to weaken eachother like it's 1024 instead of 2024. Some of the technology has changed but otherwise it's pretty straightforward as far as wars go.
when elephants fight , it the grass that suffers.
