OMG that was the horn i heard earlier today around 6PM I was wondering if someone would recorded what train it was I don't live by the railroad tracks but I do hear some train horn echos
I have a few things to say about this local run. You know they do this most every day, to DAK Americas.... and there is a HUGE yard out there that seems to be serviced by everyone. There are N&S engines in their yard, and there are A&R engines as well, but CSX hauls out the raw materials to make plastic bottles. Pellets I think, and maybe resin? Why two engines for such a small train? Overkill. And they have been using a GP-30-3 which I think is an AC version of the original. The engineer loves it, and once he stopped right in the middle of Russell St and turned the engine off. Flick of a switch and it starts up like a car. Those are the new electronics. The run usually is somewhere between 4-5 pm, and consequently they are out there for three hours of more, and we can FEEL them the entire time while we are eating supper at the table. Wish they would choose a better time. Planes fly all day, and trains run all night. No time left to sleep well. That is called deregulation. Good work on the trainspotting though. I did that for several years in Columbus, OH, before digital video was mainstream. I have a box full of 35mm photographs of the entire network, and it is HUGE.

Isn't the Geep the 650 two stroke turbo-charged motor? Old school. Quiet nearby and vibration and knock from the prime mover far away.
Inquiring minds REALLY want to know if these GP's have been rebuilt. (and I think they have) AC.
Lots of quality marijuana in those Dennis Hoppers.....
