There's also wheel profile and durometer considerations as a subset of flat. Harder, bullet profile wheels in the middle can help alleviate wheel bite.
Such an informative video, thanks for the history lesson. I’ve been skating anti rocker for a year now and am thinking about trying flat! Just subbed, looking forward to more videos like this. 🤙🏽✨
Thank you. Flat will take a little getting used to but it will be worth it if you persist. Also welcome 🤗 I have some exciting videos planned for the future!
Currently have a set up for both but do love the flat quite a bit more. Speed and control pay offs are too high for this bloke. 10/10 thumbnail on this vid as well!
In the 1992 area grind wheels were the thing, which I guess people call anti-rocker now. Then almost everyone went flat from like 1995-2000. Flat is the only way IMO. Anti-rocker is for fat concrete curbs, anything else is dumb. I skated for many years, I don't ever remember having wheel bite. Unless this is something related to a design flaw of newer skates. Never had wheel bite. I've skated N.I.S.S. and A.S.A. all flat.

Yes, the wheels do make a big difference. Good point. Thanks.

Four down!
Should ailso have mentioned Kayak rocker! I
had heaps of fun on this journey recently.
I’m not familiar with the Kayak rocker, will have to look it up. Thanks 👍🏻
@@JoeStuartAU Joey Lunger is the authority on it I believe. Check out his JS episode
That was awesome
That was funny, you said you liked flat but you had anti rocker!
Thx a lot bro!
Thanks for watching!
Both
I skate both
Two setups always
Do you switch frames each time or you have 2 full setups?
Currently have a set up for both but do love the flat quite a bit more. Speed and control pay offs are too high for this bloke.

Thanks. They are both fun but loving the new frames. Did you like the Woody Point bowl footage?
@Joe Stuart No lie, I drove by there last month and was explaining what was there to my wife. Pretty stoked to see it in this!
if ýou start anti or free before switching to flat to learn grinds faster, ýou have to learn everý grind twice..
I recommend beginners to start flat because if you can grind with a flat setup, you can grind with anti!

you must not be going very big lmao go try that out on a handrail and let us know how it goes
secret third answer: freestyle frames?
Never tried the freestyle frames but they look fun!
The good answer was : rockered frame ! Fuck flat !
I skated with four wheels once, and it just felt like I was cheating
Especially on ledges, true
Flat skaters these days are like those annoying vegans lol
🤣
Flat all day
