You might want to consider not allowing the fish to flop on the bottom of the boat. Their protective slime is removed, skin is damaged and bacterial and fungal infections set in, and a lot of those released fish die.
Flip the bail when the fish gets in the boat. Line will go slack and prevent the hook coming out and snagging you or the dog. Scares me everytime. It will happen so fast.

Right? The bears were probably to big to get through that 30 years of overgrowth fueled by the river waters....now that they have clearef one (water accessible) path of ingess/ egresd 😐😯🥺...it'ill be interesting to see. They are an adaptible couple and disciplined about carrying their weapons. Time will tell, but I think they'll figure it out....clearly the east (land) side will be of more concern....we'll see.

I agree with Mary I'm 77 and I found you guys just a short while ago on TH-cam and I'm addicted I was ip one night till almost 3:00 in the morning watching one of your episodes..lol And I agree the two of you work so smoothly together I don't know what your background is but you are so experienced how you do your food how you cook everything that you do is just fascinating how easily you make it look. I love your dogs I assume one of them is an older boy and the other one is a young buck. This is the first summer one that I've watched fantastic. When I was little girl about five six we lived across from a river and my dad wud go fishing take me with him ( daddy's girl) and when he cleaned the fish he taught me how to do it. I can remember as a little one him talking about the fish eggs in it and how everyone would pay a lot of money for those eggs little did I know he meant caviar...lol. absolutely beautiful in the summertime may be able to go down the river in your boat it's so peaceful. I brought back memories of growing up by a river and spending time in the summertime on a rowboat. After you cook that fish I was starving I could just imagine how it tasted God bless you both and your doggies 😍
This is a wonderful way to live. My son is a firefighter in the western states which has given me a chance to visit OR. Alaska would be a dream place to visit.🇺🇸🐻
Too good 👍. Awesome life the two of you are living. The scenic view and the log cabin. The river and the fish. And frying and eating fresh 🐟. There's absolutely nothing that can replace simple living.Lots of love 💘 and good wishes from Goa to Alaska.
My mother and her green eye cousin, Miss Viola would have went in after that big ole pike. Those ladies fished every day God sent. And, we cooked on the bayou. Nothing better than fresh fish cooked on a camp fire. Keep a long pole for pushing off. That is how we do it. Live the good life, guys.
You two inspire me to start thinking about finishing our ground floor. It’s about 1000 square-feet unfinished space, but it’s no where near the difficulty you two have to overcome to improve your cabin. Great job with the videos! 👍👍
Watching again of course- Eric your chopping skills are just amazing. Great to see what you accomplished again & great fishing once again. Cheers Denise- Australia
Nice job on the cabin. I install wood stoves and chimneys. Even though you've already put your pipe through the roof, you might want to consider going with a Class 'A' triple-wall chimney stove pipe through the roof, and double-wall black stove pipe down to the stove. The triple-wall offers you superior fire protection, and the double wall black pipe construction keeps the outside cooler and thus reduces wall clearances to 6 inches and ceiling clearances to 8 inches. Plus a "cathedral" box, I recommend a DuraTech® Vaulted Ceiling Support Box, depending on the pitch of the roof, to further offer more fire protection.
What I love about this video: How you put in your new wood stove - impressive! How excited you are when you fish - contagious. How well you bring us along on your journey - inspiring! Thanks

Evry time you get on the roof, i have to close my eyes---GREAT job!!!
Y’all are awesome! You could be in the middle of the desert and y’all would be okay. You should publish a calendar of your drone and scenery photos.
You live in paradise, i am 65,and i love looking at your videos, i love it
I’m amazed that you haven’t seen bear or bear sign when you’ve been out at the cabin.
Im pretty sure they mentioned that there are bear scratches somewhere on the cabin at some point.
Bears don't like dogs,, bears can smell those dogs for miles.. Everyone packs a gun in Alaska everyone!!
There have been scratches on the cabin from bears trying to get in.
I know this was 1yr & 4mo ago, but it’s like it was yesterday
reviewing it again. That was such a great trip, I doubt that you’ll ever forget it, I know I won’t, thanks for sharing your precious time and memorable journey in life with your audience, in an amazing place that most of us will never be able to live must less go to experience it. Much love to all ❤and again thank y’all, awesomeness!
Great video!!! I love watching you guys do things and fish. Such fun. Your meals always make me so hungry!! Bandit and Beau always still my heart!! ♥️❣️🙏🏼❣️♥️
Underwater captures were a beautiful add to a beautiful time shared working and playing! ❤️🍭🦫
I’ve been watching and waiting for this! ❤️🤍💙
A year ago today my Son died. You have sort have been my hero's. I love you guys.
Luv those underwater shots! and appreciated your safe exit from the roof project!
Eric is so amazing, is there anything that he can’t do? Wow y’all did a great job. Love your videos for sure. LOL
AND he can cook!!! What a man, what a partner!
The best part of my Sunday! Awesome job on the stove and everything else you both do. I could watch your videos all day (and I have!)..
👍 fresh fish dinner at the lake cabin WOW 🤩 !! The pop-up Coleman stove brings back memories from the 60/70s
It's so funny how Bandit digs at the water. Cracks me up every time. 🤣
I'm glad y'all got some real time to relax on this trip. You guys work hard and deserve to have the relaxation.
I adored the snapshots at the end. It would be cool if you printed some and placed them in your cabin journal.
I loved the shots as well & think thats a GREAT idea Paulla!!🙏♥️🙏👵 edit: 2 l's!
I'm 70 now and live vicariously through your videos wishing I had made better decisions in my past. I have no regrets but I so admire how you work together and love your animals, big and small. Bandit is a cutie but Bo is a rock star!
It's called a beaver lodge :) They slap their tails like that kind of as a warning to get away from their home. He's probably protecting some kits and his turf :) I may love beavers as much as I love Bo.
I love beavers to they’ve made me a good living for the last 30 years.
Bandit is such a water dog. Well Ive started to watch the last 2 yrs of videos for the second time. Wish I could be there with you.
So glad you had time for fun beside hard work. The sound of the reel when that fish was fighting oh, great!!!
Thank you for the video you guys work so hard 👍👍👍💖💖💖🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😍😍😍love your sweet dogs
Oooh I have to wait for my husband to come home to watch this as we always watch together 😂 but I might just have a little look 😱
Do you guys ever eat out? Go for a drink together? Here in England, we’re often found going to the pub for a quick drink and a meal after a busy week. :) Curious…. Thank you
Also curious about friends or family that you hang with. Seems like it’s always just you two!
We appreciate that you guys don't play music, instead, you let us listen to the natural sounds, and those pieces of pike on the fry pan sound delicious...
Who looks after the chickens when you are at the cabin? Our chickens sleep in a tree but who lets yours in and out.
Anyway, another awesome video. :)
I’d guess they have a friend come over and take care of the chickens and cat when they’re gone for a few days, wish I could be that friend lol
I think they have a neighbor who has the fresh milk, which I think they trade eggs for to make their kiefer, if I'm remembering right. I'd guess that same neighbor.
Love the underwater shots!
Omg I was just thinking them same thing and then I read your comment, I do believe they have their neighbor come by.
I got my mom and my SIL watching your channel now. We just love it.
Eric splitting the logs reminded me of my younger days when I use to swing a mean axe 🪓! What a workout.
Eric you and Ariel are so talented.Y'all can do anything.
Very romantic great picture of you having a little smooch I've said it before great to see you having a laugh just love you guys I watch a lot of TH-cam but you got to be my favourite channel ❤
Yeppies, mine as well!! Then Homestead Tessie🙏♥️🙏👵
My fav too! ❤️
My son would like Eric to know he has karate chop skills when it comes to cutting the wood. It was his favorite part :)
There is nothing more wholesome than a new wood stove in a cabin! Enjoy!!
FYI the first burn in the new stove is going to smoke like crazy from the manufacturer oil
Yeah, funny thing; I have a nice wood stove, but no cabin yet. Sometimes I'm a little backwards😁
or their videos :)
Aww! Such a nice vacation for you both! Very sweet ! Thanks for sharing! It was just beautiful there! Love the pups playful personality! They are so cute! 🙋♀️♥️
Thank you for sharing. I did not skip a single second. Soooooo relaxing
I guess because the weather is different from where I am the cold is actually refreshing.
Please keep doing what you do best I really enjoy learning about survival where you are.
I really enjoyed this one.
I agree with Mary I'm 77 and I found you guys just a short while ago on TH-cam and I'm addicted I was ip one night till almost 3:00 in the morning watching one of your episodes..lol
And I agree the two of you work so smoothly together I don't know what your background is but you are so experienced how you do your food how you cook everything that you do is just fascinating how easily you make it look.
After you cook that fish I was starving I could just imagine how it tasted
God bless you both and your doggies 😍
Beautiful as always.....I'm so delighted to be part of your adventures from afar. Take care and be safe!
That old chimney refused to die! Great job y'all
Now you just need a small off grid canning setup there so you can go and stock up on canned fish for fun. And maybe a small smoker
UUUU GUYS NEED TO BUILD SOME STAIRS GOING UP TO CABIN WIDE ONES
Now this is living, you guys are a great couple and blessed, as I'm sure you know. Great video
You two inspire me to start thinking about finishing our ground floor. It’s about 1000 square-feet unfinished space, but it’s no where near the difficulty you two have to overcome to improve your cabin. Great job with the videos! 👍👍
Make a plan and do it, buddy.
Excellent underwater photography. Too bad Moby Dick lives to see another day... 😫😫😫
What I love about this video: How you put in your new wood stove - impressive! How excited you are when you fish - contagious. How well you bring us along on your journey - inspiring! Thanks
Great video as always. I definitely enjoy the longer vids.
