Forget the fact that money is no object for Rod and realize that he's a very, very talented modeler. With his talent, he could still build a great layout with a small budget.
@@pietjepuk9575 He gets help with the wiring, but most everything else he does himself. When he's on the road, he get a hotel suite and builds models during the day.
Nice to see that a music artist is fascinated with trains specially a big scale like that I condolence salute you about it and I’m glad that you are in in it like everybody else. It’s a good relaxation and it’s nice to have something that you can fall back on with a smile on your face.
It would be great if Rod Stewart gave us an "in cab" view of his model railroad layout...I've always wanted to see it from a train operator's vantage point. I think it would be nice. 😊
Fantastic video. Thanks for posting. Sir Stewarts layout and attention to modeling detail is incredible. From one HO modeler to another I toast your skill and work. True artistry. Cheers from Texas.
What a great interview ,& yes a model railway is a way to forget problems just to focus on something you can get lost in ,well done Rod what a fantastic layout .😊
As a rail fan and modeller myself I, of course, knew of his layout but it is good to actually see it. I had wondered if like many wealthy hobbyists he had got other people to build it for him but it looks like he has done the bulk of the work himself. And that is good - a hobby means doing it yourself. The satisfaction comes from being able to say "I did this".
The photo at 2:23 is of an N2 tank engine shunting at the yard between Highgate and East Finchley Northern Line tube stations, at Park Junction. It was taken from Park Junction Signal Cabin by the late Owen Smithers, around1956. He was a relief signalman on the Northern Line and he published a book on Google books, “Automating the Northern Line,” which includes details about Park Junction cabin.
Rod Stewart lived at 507 Archway Road which on google now looks to have been where an Esso filling station is built, but it over looks what is now Highgate tube sidings.
Rod I would love to see your layout! I have been an avid model railroader for over 40 years and I just love your work! Also been a Rod Stewart fan since High School LOL Great job! If you are ever in Michigan would love to show you my work.
We would all love to see. Complete layout cab view would be great running trains. Everything is always still pictures. Please rod get us a live video thank you love your music too. It is a beautiful layout.
It goes to show that finding some kind of artistic release in modelling a Model Railway can be achieved by anyone, rich or poor. It would be nice to have Rod's budget, but you can still do great stuff on a shoe string budget. Happy Modelling.
Amazing. All props to Rod for building this, but am I wrong to be envious, and a bit, um, well frustrated, maybe, that it seems a little like cheating when you have a wallet as fat as his? His budget is probably unlimited and opens up possibilities that I could only dream of... Yes, this is a dream layout- I love all the different industries he modeled. I appreciate his sharing this video- wow.
fantastic. surprised he went for HO scale. maybe due to 124ft. thought he might have gone for O scale or G scale and perhaps he even has a REAL TRAIN or train engine as well. who knows and IF he does he is not saying anything yet.
i have in the uk a massive train set for sale of mint die cast wrenn trains, 1st edition trains very rare trains and a huge amount of accesories all boxed and needing a good home if you maybe interested Mr Stewart - thanks

This is nothing short of an artistic masterpiece!
And you think he build this ALL by himself ? If you swim in the $$$$ there are "helpers" around the block 🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀

So cool to see someone with the passion for the hobby AND the financial means to create an astounding layout. More video, please!

Maybe someone could do a video of it sometime like Tom McComas has done in the past. I'd love to see one!
Fantastic video. Thanks for posting. Sir Stewarts layout and attention to modeling detail is incredible. From one HO modeler to another I toast your skill and work. True artistry. Cheers from Texas.

Great looking layout Rod! You should post 1 or 2 vids running trains.
Incredibly talented modeller with a real passion for the hobby. I understand he has other interests too!
Indeed! He's been known to sing a song or two.
Same same. Saved my mental bacon during my days in advertising.
Went on to win some Best in Show awards✌️

Hi.
What a fantastic model build.
Love Sir Rod. Rock on.
The many talents of Rod Stewart.
Astonishing!
Absolutely marvelous
That is awesome. My own model railway layouts certainly pale into comparison, when compared to that masterpiece!
It remind me a bit of John Allen's layout, beautiful!
Rod Stewart build this entire model train by himself?? 😊❤that’s amazing
Nice work.
I thought it was George Selios! World class.
So cool
I have ssen your layout in an issue of Model Railroader. Fantasitc work!
I believe there's actually two issues with articles on his layout.
Very detailed layout.

Even Rod knows that the PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD is the "Standard Railroad of the World"
Pete Townsend and Roger Daltry are also big railway modellers.
Amazing. All props to Rod for building this, but am I wrong to be envious, and a bit, um, well frustrated, maybe, that it seems a little like cheating when you have a wallet as fat as his? That layout is probably close to a $1,000,000 worth of product, not counting the labor.
Wonder if he's strachted built the the bulidings and layout himself🤔
Wonderful Hobby. Blonds should be a compliment to your life and not the focus 😊
Hey Rod How Was Holyrood High?
Why is Mrs Doubtfire in the thumbnail?

One of the best... but he didn't do it all himself, he had help from other modellers.
