Beautiful Instrument for Railroad modelers ! You made it very reliable, and simple. Thank you very much. Ita has a name of a Deodorant, but that is not important. Just to comment the issue. Thank you. I will try to find one,.
This is great. Any plans on making some kind of "kit" that can go over it (a building, or whatever) to allow semi-permanent placement of this within a layout?
Will you be making these for installation in a more permanent setting with external power supply and a remote readout? Having a selectable/scaleable output would also be very useful perhaps along the lines of 0-10 VDC or 4-20mA.
Is there an interface to allow the readings to be transferred to a computer and into automation software such as iTrain to provide automatic speed profiles?
If this device helps encourage more realistic dynamics (speeds) then I'm all for it. BTW - I just scanned your website at the link - wow. Some really cool stuff. PLEASE tell me that you are also developing 'Dead Rail' Battery, remote control systems for N Scale. I am sooo wanting to go there and drop all the complexities of hot rails/wiring, track maintenance, etc. Cheers and Thanks for sharing.
Great invention. If you could add OO gauge (76.1 : 1) for direct answers, you could sell quite a few for us British modellers. (Meanwhile, I can convert as the website doesn't yet have the calculators.)
@@ModelTrainTechnology In the UK there's also TT(1) scale 1:120 that is also a common European scale. The problem with any UK or European version will be the additional shipping and customs charges. 1) TT, from the original name Table Top. Not to be confused with the microscopicly tiny T scale (runs on 3mm gauge track, scale about 1:500?). T is for Three like N is for Nine.
Wonderful, been wanting something for G scale. Do you think it will outside in the shade ? Southern California sun? You are always so clever thank you for making the hobby better
I would put that usb port on one or both sides for easier access¹ (and maybe even linking 2 _or more_ sticks together over greater distances) and see if I could make it send the data to a pc/mac over usb or bluetooth so you can monitor and log it so it adds extra value on larger setups ¹= instead of on/off switch use a 3 mode switch: off/battery/direct power with direct power mode taking the battery out of the loop so there's no risk of over charging I don't know if it would be a lot of hassle but it should be possible without the stick 'growing' too much or getting unnecessary complex (could sell it as 'pro' version)
We purposely removed the end facing USB because a cable there on the layout would be unsightly. The bottom facing is so a cable can be fed UP through the layout. The battery lasts an entire day and the charger is smart - no need to worry about over charging. It's all automatic. If you plug the cable in, the battery is digitally disconnected. We have other products in the pipeline that will allow more options and connectivity.
@@ModelTrainTechnology Nice! Would it be possible then to install it in a building adjacent to the track with display visible thru a window - and the unit & pwr cable hidden?
I'm curious about the built in battery. Eventually all batteries need replaced. Is that something the end user will be able to replace, or is it buried inside the case and has to be sent back when the battery won't hold a charge anymore.
The battery can be replaced by the customer. The battery has a plug inside to make this simple. 8 screws to remove the cover. Would take about 5 min tops with no special skills or equipment.
Can I mount it under the layout? N Scale layout, track is on 3/4" plywood, so less than 5.5" to the bottom of the locmotives. How big a hole would I need to drill? I wrote this before I realized the speed is displayed on the speed stick. Is there a way to remote the speed readout?
With N gauge having 1:160, 1:150 and 1:148 depending on where you are. Japan uses 1:150, USA and continental Europe do 1:160 uk N gauge is 1:148. Is it programmable for this?
Well, I'm modelling UK OO scale and German, Italian and Polish HO : I need two of this due to the difference. No possibility to have OO and HO on the same system ?
A few question as a potential European costumer: -can it load the battery with 230V -will this be offered with some of the big model train stores like Lombardhobbies or Trainworld? (It is easy to make bigger orders with many items to save money in shipping?)
Wow, that is probably the saddest and most geeky item of technology I've seen in a long while ... BUT ... I also think it's absolutely brilliant because I too am a total geek!!!!
I'm really glad that this is available since we cannot get the accutrack version anymore. I really love the available functionalities on it.
Very glad to see a replacement for the now discontinued Accutrack 2.
This will be so handy for speed matching! :)
Super cool! Nice piece for data on your model railroad!
Thank you!
just in time for the holidays . ordered !
Thanks!!

We are glad you like it!
Very cool! Ordered one before the video even finished!
Wow! What an amazing gadget. Can't wait to get one
Thanks!!
Thank you for all your hard work making N scale great! Merry Christmas
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too!

Awesome stuff man. DEFINITELY going to recommend to my train club.
Awesome, thank you!

That's the plan!
@@ModelTrainTechnology That means we should not buy now!
There will be a remote display (Add on) for the Speed Stick.(coming soon) . And other cool options.

We have plans for this type of thing.

We are staying away from control systems - way too many other projects to tackle!

We'll have the Widgets adjusted tomorrow; check back in 24 hours!
Aside from 1:76, what other British scales are used? We could easily make a UK version
@ModelTrainTechnology British O scale is1:43.5 and European O scale is 1:45 as per the Wikipedia entry for O scale.

@@ModelTrainTechnology I will be glad to.
Well this is great! Looks like I'm getting one!
Great! Thank you!
Very cool. Please go to Amherst show. Would buy onsite there for sure.
Sorry, we don't have a strong desire to be in Springfield in January. It's also a massive effort for a small company and January is our busiest month.
Hardly a massive effort. Lots of small MRR companies go and it's well worth it
Dammit.... Take my money!! Just ordered it, Merry Christmas to me!!
Thanks SR. Chief!!!! JL
Great for slot car tracks also!
Wonderful, been wanting something for G scale. Do you think it will outside in the shade ? Southern California sun? You are always so clever thank you for making the hobby better
We have another version n the works for G scale; bigger, remote display.

There will be a new product that allows remote display.
@@ModelTrainTechnology I look forward to that announcement.
Looks great! Will this work in a curve? Also what is the speed range?
A curve will shorten the distance between sensors relative to the train travel, thus, the reading will be off.

So cool! Ordered!
Thank you!
Fascinating!
Well, I'm modelling UK OO scale and German, Italian and Polish HO : I need two of this due to the difference. No possibility to have OO and HO on the same system ?
There will be a "B" set of scales to include Europe.
How does one set the scale to be measured?
The pushbutton selects the scale and the options.
Very Cool!
Thanks!
Very good! Will it work for T gauge 1:450 scale without much adjustment?
T is not on our list.
Great I need to buy this
Thank you! We think you will love it.

If you have a 5V USB charger, then yes. We only sell direct.
Could this device used to calculate speeds of slot cars? That would be a market for this device.
never tried but you can use the micro second calculator and then use our online widget to calculate speed.
Should work fine if slots are ho scale.
Are you using 1:24 or 1:32?
Does it do the UK's 'odd' 00 scale ?
we'll have a B set of scales in the unit.
This thing is amazing! Do you ship world wide? I'm in the Netherlands and would love to own one of these.
Yes we do. We ship to most EU countries.
Looks fantastic but are going to get dealers in Canada , checked your web site could get very expensive to ship from the USA a dealer would be great
We only sell direct. We ship using USPS and there is a $9.95 prepaid duties option for Canada that will save you money.
@ ok are you going to Springfield next year , I will check it out
Very cool
Thanks!!
So this will work with O gauge?
Yes, built in.
what are the ramifications for DCC users ?
Meaning?
Is it available in UK
We only sell direct.
Smart!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
LOL!!
Is this available in Europe?
We only sell direct. For many EU countries we can ship directly. Otherwise, yo can us myUS.com and they will ship for you (necessary for UK customers)

For the RR modeler who has it all.
We hope so!
Very interesting gadget like to knw moe about it, i coul use one
Thanks! We're always trying to make model railroading better.
cool
Is it AFFORDABLE 😮
Yes, very. $125 includes everything.

The price is a tad steep. $125.00 A I bet it’s made in china.
its NOT made in China, its made in Orlando Florida.
@ that is good to know. Do you sell your O scale signals without the controller? If so I will buy a few.
