King Aerys I reminds me a lot of his late Grand Uncle, King Baelor I; he spent most of his reign stooped in his own personal wants & interests instead of actually ruling the 7 Kingdoms, had a wife who he never bedded, allowed a more capable hand to take over as head administrator of the Iron Throne and possibly having dragon dreams as well.
Aerys understood that it was his brothers (Maekar’s) branch of the family that would be best suited to fulfill the prophecy of Ice and Fire, so he didn’t attempt to sire any children. In my opinion this decision makes him undoubtedly a great king.

Its kind of weird to me that bloodraven called for a great council. It would have been like a 13 year regency with himself as hand ruling. And he could have just excluded maegor for egg later.

I think Bloodraven being the greenseer that he is, saw bits and pieces of the song of ice and fire. Aerys i probably was a dragon dreamer and saw bits and pieces as well, and so it’s possible that he made a deal with Bloodraven where he would spend his time researching ancient texts for the complete picture while Bloodraven ruled in his stead.

I genuinly think in the show the Aegon's Dream will be lost during the Dance and only dagger will remain. Then somehow in the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms the hidden text will be discovered, maybe Aerion received dagger it as a child and put it in fire for fun which led him to believe he was the chosen one or sth. The talk Baelor and Maekar had with Brightflame would be fine moment for reveal too. At the end of the season Maekar will take the dagger to Aerys and Bloodraven who'll try to reverse engineer the Prince that was promised and the Song of Ice and Fire with some ancient texts from Asshai or wherever
I have this pet theory that Bloodraven had plated into Arerion the idea that drinking wildfire would turn him into a dragon, just as he became directly in line for the throne, because even he would be frightened by the thought of Aerion as king.
Interresting thought about the Targaryens at the Wall. Reminds a bit of "There always must be a Stark in Winterfell." Sadly, I suppose Maester Aemond would have known something about that, as he would be part of this plan, so it doesn´t quite fit.
It is interesting that all Aerys did personally in his reign was spare Bittersteel. Why was this a matter he deemed so important he would handle it himself? I could definitely see it having to do with Aegon`s dream, he WAS sending Aegor to the Wall after all. I also wonder if Aerys did it to just to bolster the ranks of the Night`s Watch.
Lowkey sad how so much stuff happened during his reign, and he either affected almost none of it or affected it in a bad way. I don't think he was a bad king, just not committed.
I feel so bad for Aelinor lowkey, that sucks man imagine having a husband who literally would rather read books all night then do shit with you, poor girl was PRAYING for children
Aerys II likely was a dreamer as well. Only he was already mentally fragile due to inbreeding and stress of ruling, and had no idea what to make of the dreams (I think maester Aemon greatly regretted taking the black and not being there for Egg or Aerys). People have been dreaming of Dany birthing her eggs for centuries. No one knows who, when, or why, but they all vaguely revolve around the idea of a blood sacrifice/funeral pyre/ fire of some kind "waking the dragons". Kinda like how Kings Landing was stuffed to the brim with wildfire (another the sickness took was Aerion) when it was being sacked.
And never the less, time and time again, Old George goes for the Greek interpretation of "Prophecies" that be aware of them, not trust them and take them face value, because they are so vague that are vague, that are determined by personal interpretation, and most of the time, is always ends bad for the person that try to accomplish that prophecy, like House Targaryen themselves, so worried about prophecies that nearly destroyed their House, even that the birthright of Daenerys is questionable, because non of the POV of A Song of Ice and Fire can be trusted and give contradictory tales about her birth and how and where she was rise.
Could you make a video about "lost" targaryen princes and princesses who maybe still alive in the main story? like Maegor Targaryen son of Brightflame (also, am I the only one thinking that Darkstar is his child?)

@@CrusaderChris If it's not in a book, it's not canon, at least for me. Also I find incredibly stupid how it passes from King to heir, it doesn't make sense. I find it hard to believe that GRRM is planning to include such a convoluted plot point, he usually thinks things through for them to make sense in world.
In "A Song of Ice and Fire," the most powerful and significant character is actually Brynden Rivers, a legitimized bastard by Aegon the Unworthy. The reason Aegon the Conqueror united the Seven Kingdoms was to stand against the Night King, and the prophecy of Azor Ahai is believed to descend from Aegon's bloodline. Despite the victory of the Greens in the civil war, the second son of Rhaenyra and Daemon, Viserys II, would have a bastard grandson named Brynden Rivers. With Valyrian magic and First Men blood from House Blackwood, this lineage accelerates the potential Azor Ahai prophecy. The power of skinchanging or the Three-Eyed Raven is more formidable than House Targaryen's dragons, allowing them to continue ruling through the Hand of the King and Master of Whisperers, Lord Bloodraven. Despite being legitimized as a Targaryen prince, Brynden remains loyal to his half-brother, King Daeron II, after the Blackfyre Rebellion. Brynden Rivers has the ability to manipulate the future through a eugenic program, ultimately leading Aegon V (Egg) to become king and marry into House Blackwood, thus combining pure Valyrian magic and First Men blood through incestuous marriages. From Jaehaerys II to Aerys II, the Targaryen incestuous line led to Rhaegar Targaryen, whose birth is linked to the Summerhall tragedy during Aegon V's attempt to hatch dragons, which ultimately failed. Targaryen madness is rooted in the Blackwood DNA, contributing to moral decay and insanity. Despite their cruelty, the Targaryens aimed for a greater and wiser purpose, as Brynden Rivers famously said, "The end justifies the means." Finally, the Prince That Was Promised is believed to be Jon Snow or Aegon VI Targaryen..
