Hawks swoop on alleged Transnet fuel theft kingpin

- A joint operation between the Hawks and Bidvest Proteacoin has swooped on an alleged kingpin behind the theft of fuel from Transnet's national pipeline. The 35-year-old man was arrested in a sting operation in Pretoria East this morning after busting two of his accomplices with almost 8000 liters of fuel in Vrede in the Free State over the weekend. The suspect has since been flown in a police helicopter to his home in Emalahleni, where police are conducting a search and seizure operations.

Looking at the property, the buildings, the trucks, this must have been going on for years. This is no fly by night thing. But it took a company to catch him in three months while the hawks couldn't/ wouldn't do it in years! This is not Transnet's pipeline! This is our pipeline, SA taxpaying citizens!

Good start but the clue is “then appear in court “ - that is start of years of postponement as demonstrated by those who have looted billions and not one person in jail . All the while the NPA are missing in action . Are lifestyle audits really that hard - get a list of all G Wagon purchases , Bentleys and any cars over R 3 million and if the owner acquired by nefarious means - straight to jail for 20 years or preferably death sentence 👍

It is clear that SAPS cannot secure anything therefore we need private security to guard our key points. Just adding further costs to the consumer because SAPS can’t deliver.
The kingpin is treated with decency but his raggedy clothed poor workers doing the dirty work are made to lie in cuffs on the floor face down in someone else's ass. Its reminiscent of slave trade and should be done away with. Arrest someone fine, don't humiliate them. In time to come arrests like this will become constitutionally incorrect.
With that being said, this is a milestone for the war against fuel theft, hopefully more will fall and Transnet can pay their workers better :)
