  • Space Problems solved - here's a windowsill extension that I consider to be perfect for narrow windowsills. The existing structures won't be damaged.

    Excellent! This is the method I will try if I decide to do something like this. I have 2 large pots, 10 inches high with a 10 inch diameter each. I want to grow my own cilantro in them and they will need the light from the window. They will be heavy. So I'm not sure this will work for them. I'll have to think about it. But this is the best idea I have seen after looking at several videos for window sill extenders.

      The way this works is... As a clamp. She's basically clamping the wider board to the narrow board. She already knows the narrow shelf can handle her load. In your case, be sure your old shelf is securely attached to the wall. Especially if you plan to move the plants away from the glass a bit. The further away from the glass, the more downward force on the outer edge and more force away from the wall. If I was concerned about the weight, I would put bookshelf brackets underneath the wider board. But that takes away the "leave no trace" aspect of this video. (Although, a dab of putty on moving day is an easy fix on most walls.) 💕🌞🌵😷

    I am really amazed at your DIY skills! 😉First with the painting project, and now this window sill extension. 👍👍👍 Good to get a peek at the houseplants cuttings at the end. They seem to do really well. 😁 👍

      Hi Jun, sorry for replying so late. I've just begun to reply to old comments that I've missed. The houseplant cuttings have gone through a lot. The begonia died. :( But the others are still around and I try to nurse the ones that were attacked by thrips back to health. I hope you are doing well. Take care and happy growing! :)

    • @junsorchids300

      @@bumblebeesorchids3408 No worries. My begonia maculata is not doing well either, because I have been put it in a very dark corner. I am making some cuttings, hoping to grow again in spring. On the contrary, the begonia NoID you gifted me was doing super well - it has grown so big and become a centerpiece in my living room. Thank you so much!

    • @bumblebeesorchids3408
      @bumblebeesorchids3408  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@junsorchids300 I have seen the Begonia NoID in your video, it looks fantastic! I saw a little damage in the center of one of the leaves that remind me of thrips damage. In mine they prefer so feed on the vascular strands. My Begonia is completely leafless at the moment - again I have to admit. It's the thrips' favourite.

    • @junsorchids300
      @junsorchids300 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bumblebeesorchids3408 Great spotting! At first, I thought the damage at the center was sunburn, but upon closer inspection, I discovered it was actually thrips! I immediately sprayed it down with a pesticide. Now it seems to have stopped developing and I haven’t seen any more thrips. To my great surprise, a second stem has sprouted and is growing its first leaf. I am thrilled!😄I hope yours will grow some leaf again or sprout a new shoot too!

Thanks again and happy growing! By the wY is your phal bronze maiden blooming? I got one few years ago and it's blooming now which reminds me of your video.

    Just to lap over the original shelve. To camp on side the window where it is attached to the window

    hi thank u for this video amazing idea!! i was wondering how long can u keep mixed fertilizer stored for? i know ur supposed to mix fresh nutrients when u feed.. but if ur watering schedule is a few days apart for a few orchids can you keep the mixed fertilizer for a few days or up to a week?

    • @bumblebeesorchids3408
      @bumblebeesorchids3408  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for replying so late. To be honest, I don’t know how long you can store mixed fertiliser. I stayed for quite a while, up to four weeks or as long as the water looks fresh. But don’t take this as an advice, I don’t know if storing it so long leads to forming precipitations, could be. Happy growing!
