The spots will disappear after a few days , I installed the same brand of screen protector on my rcd330plus. Was the 6.5" . It's also a good idea to take a credit card wrap it in that cloth and apply even pressure across the screen protector. Kinda like a squeegee.

If anything you need a matt finish to reduce finger prints, god what a nightmare, controls down by the gear shirt like in the old days in the Audi should be standard.

Do you think one of these screens would hide/dull a scratch on the screen? I caught mine with the vacuum the other day and it doesn't look great :-/

Not unnecessary. This prolongs the screen of the stereo. Also reduces fingerprints.
