We have had two welsh terriers. The first was a return to breeder and was 5 when we got him. Very hard to train at that point. We learned that you had to be firm but kind. Our current Welsh is almost 13. He too needed training and lots of socialization with other dogs and humans. This was well worth the cost and effort. Very smart dogs. The best description I have read is that a Welsh will do anything, as long as they believe it was their idea. 😁

    Are they stubborn?

Terriers normally are. My JRT is, but it's not a big problem. Not socializing them would be a mistake, though.

I had a Welsh Terrier for 13 years that just passed. Stubborn? Yes sometimes, but he was a great dog though. I miss him so much. I housebroke him in under two weeks, and I was also working 60 hours a week at the time. He was hard to break from door dashing though. He also would howl when I left him alone. He did that all his life. Not a big deal to me. I live in a house. In an apartment though that would have been a big problem.
