I was JUST about to buy this, thank you 100x over for your review!! I am new to both jumprope and trying to get fit and this review helped me a lot. I'll go with a more basic rope and get the job done :)
Champion! Thanks man, I'm a regular skipper...almost every day for 30 - 40 minutes. I was just searching for wearable devices that can count my jumps when I came across the smartrope and I was so close to buying one until I read your review. Saved me a $100 thanks. Don't suppose you know of any wearables that count skipping/jump rope? It seems to be the forgotten cardio exercise in the tech world
hello, great honest review. I owned one of these bough on an apple store. I still love this smart rope. Some of the missstated word on this honest review was when reviewer said dissapear at noon, actually LED flashing always there, just on different angle. True they it is sometimes hard to position it right in front of us, but overtime you will learn how to do it. Thickness i think not over 6-7times regular. Better use shoes to avoid the rope snapping on your foot fingers. Counting and connection with apps i feel easy and great. When I first bought it, it cannot on and charging. I e-mailed tangram and they sent me a brand new one. Thx and great job Tangram. I hope this great exercise with new great tech can help people stay exercise at home during covid-19. Stay active, stay fit & healthy guys. Thx video review creator. Keep up the good work.
I was just about to type the same thing, almost bought it, but due to your review, I'll skip for now. If you have any other (no too expensive) gamification suggestions to stimulate indoor training, let me know, I'm more than interested.
Thanks for the review. You just saved me $90! I was going to get this for my husband for Father's Day but he uses jump rope for exercise and I'm sure he would not be happy with this product.
Amazing job Eric! I was seriously about to buy this because I usually jump rope a lot. But it seems we should all wait version 2.0 or 3.0. Thanks a lot man!!!!
Well it's a nice concept. Being able to track your progress through technology would be a good thing. But unfortunately they need to improve their product. I'll keep my eyes opened for the improved one.
Got a $10 Walmart jump rope. Where do I start. 40 good blood work. All around healthy. Lazy lately not ripped. Lean. Any advice. How's your knees and back 5yrs later?
Thanks for saving me the money. I almost bought it at an Apple store today and then thought, let me see some reviews. I only jump outside and I’m still in a novice stage. Definitely wouldn’t have been a good purchase. Thanks again
Maybe try and untangle it instead of just pushing on it over and over? The LEDs aren’t gonna be shown on camera nearly as easily as what you can see yourself. This whole review seems all over the place.
It's nice to have someone on TH-cam that is finally honest and doesn't BSU about what they do for a living you know because I could tell that you were an athlete and you definitely jump rope and to me this whole concept is ridiculous I'm sorry I mean we live in an age where technology is everything but do we really need a high-tech jump rope I mean what's next a high-tech hula hoop, or maybe a high-tech swing set you know I mean we're taking old fashioned items that were back in the mid 50 60 70 I don't know and return them into high tech items why I have a jump rope that I've had now for 20 years and I think I paid 5 bucks were and it works perfectly you know I've never had a problem with it and I don't really jump rope great I mean i am 6 foot 7 and I suck at it but you know I still had it for over 20 years. I mean this is just another device to waste batteries on money and time and I agree it's a piece of junk I mean if it was like 20 bucks and sure why not buy it for a novelty item but $90 right now these things are actually selling on eBay for about 20 bucks that's a good price considering if you just want a novelty item or a gag gift but like you said if you really want to get into working out this is definitely not the way to go.
I need a durable jump robe that can withstand thousands of rotations per day plus it needs to be long enough... any recommendations for long rope with counter?
Hello my friend.. i have a question.. when you connect your tangram via bluetoth to your smartphone, does it remain connect? i mean, i connected but the tangram rope has to be less than one cm to the smartphone.. so it is always disconnecting... is this happening to you?
I was looking for vids about this jump rope before I bought it. Im still going to buy it off Amazon because it's only 40 dollars but ill buy a regular jump in case anything you said was valid.
I am getting into jumprope after years away. I pulled out my old rope that counts but it keeps sticking at the place where the rope rotates to make the count. Do you have a suggestion for a good counting jumprope?
I just bought it and already had issues with it as Eric explained. I'm trying to get into shape and I thought the LED etch would encourage me. Unfortunately I cannot get it to work properly (though it does light up when first tuned on) and it is very heavy and curly. I used it first outside and scratched the heck out of it with just 3 or 4 jumps on the pavers. Then I saw the review (and warnings) about using it outside and went back inside. The concept is great, but the execution is deeply flawed.
Artur, I had the same experience. "concept is great, but the execution is deeply flawed". I agree, if they could make the rope lighter, faster, and less prone to damage, it would be exactly what I want.
I use speed rope for skipping so thanks for the review but again I bought something on amazon amazon Alexa spot and a lot of the reviews were very negative and I own one and yes it’s a little tricky to set up and get connected to WiFi but it’s very good and u need the time to explore the amazon Alexa spot as it can be very useful and surprisingly intelligent. And I will have to watch other reviews before I buy as not sure how accurate this is to actually owning one
I hope in future they will improve this smart rope. When i see the commercial about this i'm really impressed but when i see you review i got disappointed. I taught it is perfect already.
+jumpropechampion (Jumpropechampion) Yeah, I hated to give them a bad review but it's the truth. I saw your jumping videos and you are an amazing jump roper. I have to keep practicing to get that good, you've obviously worked hard to get there.
Claudio Lucas Viana Just got one, app doesn't sync, won't connect to Bluetooth on my S8. Was Reading the app reviews in the playstore, devs seem to show no concern.
FAN-EFFING-TASTIC Review ... was super curious about this product, but, at the $99 price point everything you highlighted would be a deal-breaker. Great idea, they just need to work out the kinks. (see what I did there?)
I used it and YES it tangles up quite easily. But, I did double under's quite easily and Apple Store made a video of it, its on my instagram page. These ropes are made for people who know how to use jump ropes at a higher level. People who are not trying to just go fast but move at a controlled rhythm. I have been Boxing since 2003 and I can tell you that I like those ropes.
The way you tried to untangle the rope looked like those fake "how can I hold all these lemons"-commercials. It was frustrating to watch since all you had to do was to grab the middle of the rope and let it untangle itself. Instead you hold the two ends and effectively *stop* that from happening, or at least hinder it greatly. It's as if you have never untangled anything in your life. The rope is twisted, man, so unTWIST it... don't expect the rope to spin loose on its own. Fuck, that was a frustrating part of the video. Edit: Other than that it was a good review. Apologies for seeming too negative, that part just annoyed the heck out of me. Keep up the good work!
+solomon quinn depends on where you grew up. Where I grew up it was always called a jump rope. Tangram has labeled the Smart Rope as a "jumprope that displays your fitness data"
You're not serious about skipping or fitness if you get this piece nonsense. The best equipment you can buy is the rudimentary stuff - free weights, Kettlebells, paralettes, speed ropes. This is just a crap.
"The smart jump rope, for those who want to seem like a rich a**hole while showing how in shape they so they can make you feel worse about your body than you already are"
good just saved me 80 bucks
+JULIE ZHU 👍
Yeah, thanks for the review!
thanks so much I was about to purchase one of these. Glad I seen this review first.
+Wisemade yes, happy to save other people the hassles of having to return it!
I was JUST about to buy this, thank you 100x over for your review!! I am new to both jumprope and trying to get fit and this review helped me a lot. I'll go with a more basic rope and get the job done :)
+Kara Kinney good choice!
Same here
Thank you! Same here. Was planning to buy one for my brother as a Christmas gift, but I will get something else for him.
Champion!

Don't suppose you know of any wearables that count skipping/jump rope? It seems to be the forgotten cardio exercise in the tech world
It's definitely a forgotten exercise. I don't know of any accurate wearables or fitness products that count skips.
Garmin IQ store has a jump rope app that works well for me
What a great review. Clear and honest. Thanks
thanks!
Gosh…a last minute save! I nearly clicked on “buy” when I decided to look at few reviews…and here it comes! Thank you!

Thanks for the review, u just helped me save more than 100 USD. Cheers from Taiwan.
+Robert Weng you bet, thanks for watching!
I was just about to type the same thing, almost bought it, but due to your review, I'll skip for now. If you have any other (no too expensive) gamification suggestions to stimulate indoor training, let me know, I'm more than interested.

+This Is Your Brain On Crafts yeah, I can't recommend it just yet, it needs a lot of improvement
Amazing job Eric! I was seriously about to buy this because I usually jump rope a lot. But it seems we should all wait version 2.0 or 3.0. Thanks a lot man!!!!
+christian fiorelli Thanks for watching! Glad it helped prevent you from wasting money!

Respect for giving an honest review. Sounds like this will be a great product after some more development.
+Greg Twogood I hope so, it needs some work. Not a bad idea, they just didn't execute it right.
So what's with the donut connected to it in the ad?
What smart jump rope do you recommend?
Thanks for saving me the money. I almost bought it at an Apple store today and then thought, let me see some reviews. I only jump outside and I’m still in a novice stage. Definitely wouldn’t have been a good purchase. Thanks again
+kraddude 👍
I like it a lot so far, only thing you have to use it indoors
+F. Francis Awesome, I couldn't seem to make it work for me
Maybe try and untangle it instead of just pushing on it over and over?
The LEDs aren’t gonna be shown on camera nearly as easily as what you can see yourself.
This whole review seems all over the place.
Such a relief I was thinking about purchasing it. Thank you for a great review :D
It's nice to have someone on TH-cam that is finally honest and doesn't BSU about what they do for a living you know because I could tell that you were an athlete and you definitely jump rope and to me this whole concept is ridiculous I'm sorry

100% agree. I would even go so far as to say I would spend $20 on a regular jumping rope before I would spend $20 on this piece of junk!
Hi Eric
Very helpful video. What’s your take on Smart Rope Pure, the one without led?
I need a durable jump robe that can withstand thousands of rotations per day plus it needs to be long enough... any recommendations for long rope with counter?
Thanks Eric. Totally agree with your analysis. Too bad that I didn't see your review before purchasing this expansive rope.
Bummer. Yeah, it's got potential, but not quite there yet.
Do you if there are any good jump ropes out there that talk to your iPhone or watch?
Thanks a lot! Great review.
Thanks man, this was helpful.
Hello my friend.. i have a question.. when you connect your tangram via bluetoth to your smartphone, does it remain connect? i mean, i connected but the tangram rope has to be less than one cm to the smartphone.. so it is always disconnecting... is this happening to you?
Have you tried cross rope? If so, what do you think?
Nice, honest review
Thanks you for honorable review ✨
Hey man what speed rope did you have at the end of this video ?
thanks a lot for the review. was about to get this one... but now i need to think about it... thanks a lot~
No grips? No shot. Any 2023 update?
This rope is very long, how you can you shorten it?
Thank u for the review!!
Thanks for this review
Thanks! Very helpful review just before I click purchase =)
Thanks for the video, I was about to buy it, but you are right, still requires enhancements.
Don't buy another counting rope. Count you average skips per minute and then use that average.
I just bought it and already had issues with it as Eric explained.
I'm trying to get into shape and I thought the LED etch would encourage me.

lucky me, almost bought one and was looking for review for it and there is hardly any.
+Ming Kiat Tan Great! You came to the right place!
its a great idea for a fitness rope but as you said it needs imporovment.
+Mahmood Mili exactly, it's not quite there yet
These are a fashion statement in posh gyms
I hope in future they will improve this smart rope. When i see the commercial about this i'm really impressed but when i see you review i got disappointed. I taught it is perfect already.
I need to find the perfect jump rope I’m very picky about my jump ropes.
Have a look at buddy lee jump ropes 👍🏽
thank you so much for your video
I tried to get give them help on ways they can make the jump rope. It is definitely made from people who don't know anything about jump rope
+jumpropechampion (Jumpropechampion) Yeah, I hated to give them a bad review but it's the truth. I saw your jumping videos and you are an amazing jump roper. I have to keep practicing to get that good, you've obviously worked hard to get there.
+Techy Agent which jump rope to get, looking for light weight one
Perfect honest review. Just saved me from the same troubles and a big disappointment
And the smart rope pure ?
Claudio Lucas Viana Just got one, app doesn't sync, won't connect to Bluetooth on my S8. Was Reading the app reviews in the playstore, devs seem to show no concern.
Instead of saying it’s heavy, be more specific. How much does it weighs? 2 lbs? 5lbs.?
felt bad after 5 years, when jump rope is at its epitome now, its gone
FAN-EFFING-TASTIC Review ... was super curious about this product, but, at the $99 price point everything you highlighted would be a deal-breaker. Great idea, they just need to work out the kinks. (see what I did there?)
Thank 🙇 you

I could just pick up some Xmas lights and jump them. Saved me £80.

Phew almost pressed pay - thanks
Wtf?!
Who pays 90$ for a jump rope, I got mine for 2$ which is basic jump rope and I can say it's good, never let the smart products fool you.
why do you keep calling it a jump rope its a skipping rope right?
+solomon quinn depends on where you grew up. Where I grew up it was always called a jump rope. Tangram has labeled the Smart Rope as a "jumprope that displays your fitness data"
Another product dropped into the market at halfway development and without proper testing...
Thanks for the review...This product does not make my list......
you said all.... this was made by someone who dosnt do skipping rope
You're not serious about skipping or fitness if you get this piece nonsense. The best equipment you can buy is the rudimentary stuff - free weights, Kettlebells, paralettes, speed ropes. This is just a crap.
100% agree. This is nothing but a gimmick.
I was about to buy this, Thank you, this makes me not want it. Thank you.
Thanks for saving me 80 buckaroos
For sure!
"The smart jump rope, for those who want to seem like a rich a**hole while showing how in shape they so they can make you feel worse about your body than you already are"
+Marcos Ortiz LOL! Pretty much
why is it overpriced bad
It tangles! Now that's just laughable!
Summary - DO NOT BUY THIS. Shame on you, Apple, for selling this shid.
Thanks for the review, bought a 10$ rope instead.
Thanks I won't buy
Definitely garbage product. Just fashion!
Exactly
