I really enjoyed this pattern The instructions are clear and the hat is fabulous I purchased the pattern for the 4 weight yarn and that also looked great I make hats for the veterans hospital in NY we finished for this year and I’m starting for next year this hat is perfect Thanks
Happy New Year! Thank you! What a wonderful thing you do - I'm sure that your hats are loved and so appreciated. In a time when everything is at our finger tips i feel handmade is so special. xo
Hi! I had been looking for camo colored yarn back in June 2024 for a beanie for my brother. I lucked out and found 3 new skeins of Wool Ease Quick and Thick. Urban Camo at a thrift store for cheap. Aaaand, I had no idea how to begin. I found your video!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. This was the easiest item I have ever crocheted. I never messed up once. Made it in one try because your tutorial is concise, steady, smooth and perfectly paced and edited. Your voice is friendly and soothing. I've just come back to crocheting after 20 years. I'm going back to your tutorials!!! Carmen
That IS WONDERFUL! I made my brother a camo one - and he loved it! And of course yarn deals are a must now a days so good find! Welcome back to crochet after 20 years!
Made this beanie for my grandson and he loves it. It was easy to follow turorials, thank so much. It was fast. I made it green with black band per grandson's request.
Found your tutorial yesterday love the hat I belong to a group that makes hats and scarves for Veterans the hat works up so fast you were easy to follow I went to buy the pattern and found the same pattern in aran weight so excited Thanks so much for the tutorial
Made this on a quiet overnight shift for my son, its straightforward, relatively quick for my first hat attempt, and beautiful. He picked a multi greens and black velvet yarn, so its a bit fancy 🥰
I’m a beginner but I’ve made five versions of this hat and love this pattern so much. It’s my new go-to hat pattern - thank you! Your talents and this tutorial are perfect. I’m grateful. 🙏🏼😊 Would it be possible to provide a tutorial on matching gloves and/or scarves for the holidays?
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love it if I have worsted weight yarn, four or five what size hooks should I use for for them? Thank you so much.
i did exactly what she said but i have 41 stitches at the end if the increase rounds instead of 39. ive already redone the whole thing 3 times following her exactly. what do I do?
I have never made with that size hook and know for sure it would not work for the size of this yarn. If you wanted to use a smaller yarn you could probably do it but I'm sorry I'm not sure of the stitch count around.
I wasn't measuring correctly either, I have tight tension. I pulled it all out and loosened my tension. It measured correctly after I relaxed a bit. Good luck!
Hi! Great hat! I'm following the isntructions I got from your pattern for this off Ravelry but the amount of stitches completing each row and around continuous part of the hat (after crown) differ from this video. (Adult hat = 60 in pattern, but you say 39 in video.). (I'm a beginner.). My hat is gong to be far too big. I'm confused at the discrepancy between the video and the pdf pattern.
I used the same yarn and hook size and stitches but the band was too loose/thick and looks nothing like the example photo. What went wrong? It looks like I’m wearing a Russian fur hat 😂
The pattern indicates a 6.5 hook is needed, (I used a 7 mm because my stitches tend to be tighter ) , the TH-cam tutorial indicates a 9 mm and 10 mm can you tell me which is correct?
Oh no! I am so sorry. Here is a new code if you are still interested. www.etsy.com/ca/shop/PrettyDarnAdorable?coupon=VIP30YT Thank you for letting me know so I could fix it!
I have a ton of Lion Brand Hometown in that exact color. OIts not my fav yarn, but it makes up a fab hat!! Thank you for the great hat for my son for next winter!’
Awesome! Thank you! This is actually a hat the guys in my house will wear! That is my 16 year old in the photo and getting him to wear any hat is a challenge. Happy you found something you want to make with your Hometown 😍
Can I do this with 4medium velvet smooth yarn and a 6.5mm hook? Lol like does it still work with different yarn and different size hook? I’m new to crochet big time
I have made two hats so far. All goes well until I begin the band. They end up diagonal!! Can you help me please!!! I can’t understand why 😩 Extremely frustrated, Lubna
Usually when this happens, it’s because people are adding an extra stitch along the base of the hat when working the ripped band it ends up that you are most likely working your first stitch into your turning chain instead of the actual stitch. Try using a stitch marker in the first and last stitch of every row that should fix the problem.
Just keep working all the way around and when you get close stop when the beginning edge touches the ending edge and you can sew together. If you fast forward you will see what I mean 😊

You are so welcome. Enjoy :)

Love it! Now you got me thinking to do a nice purple one for myself! xo
On my second hat! Thank you, its a great tutorial!
Fantastic! Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this but I can’t for the life of me figure out the band! Struggling to add the new yarn for the band
Loved this pattern. On my second hat soon. You made this so simple. Thank you.
I’m so glad. I’m impressed for your second hat 😊
It took me forever to re-find this tutorial! Would love to see more hats made like this.♥️
More to come!
Love this hat!!! Yes, would love a tutorial for worsted weight. Thank you.♥️
I agree

i think that would be great! I will add that to my list but i think that will be in the new year :)
I'm so glad you like it! It is the one hat my boys ask me to make for them - as teens I'm thankful for that :)
What color yarn is this?

@@NotEvelin I would just take out two stitches. It won’t make a difference overall. Keep going 😊
will do thank you!
Hi can I use a 4.5 knitting hook instead . And how do u calculate the rows to ensure the beanie is wide enough
I have never made with that size hook and know for sure it would not work for the size of this yarn. If you wanted to use a smaller yarn you could probably do it but I'm sorry I'm not sure of the stitch count around.
What if it's not measuring 7 - 7.5 inches at that point? I'm using the same brand and size of yarn. Also, I have correct amount of stiches.
Great job!
I wasn't measuring correctly either, I have tight tension. I pulled it all out and loosened my tension. It measured correctly after I relaxed a bit. Good luck!

Sounds like you have the pattern for the worsted weight version. Did it have a brown hat as the photo?
I have Rios worsted weight yarn like a light sweater pattern
You could try using three strands together :)
This is a great easy hat. Did you slip stitch band together before you flipped the hat outside in?
Yes I did that way the seam is to the inside and hidden :)
I used the same yarn and hook size and stitches but the band was too loose/thick and looks nothing like the example photo. What went wrong? It looks like I’m wearing a Russian fur hat 😂
OH noooo! did you go down to the 6.50 mm hook?
@@prettydarnadorable oh no, leave it to adhd me to forget that..... (thank you!!!!!)
Can I use the magic circle instead of the 2 chains?
Absolutely!
Can you start with a magic ring instead?
Absolutely!

A different sized hook is used on the band. Let me know if you need help with the hook.
I like your tutorial and I tried to use the coupon code on Etsy and Ravelry but both say it is invalid.
Oh no! I am so sorry. Here is a new code if you are still interested. www.etsy.com/ca/shop/PrettyDarnAdorable?coupon=VIP30YT

So sorry for the long response time you can but you will need to do more increase rounds. Hope this makes sense.

Omg. That did it!!! Thank you very much for your advice and guidance!!! I’ve made a total of 5 beanies so far and all look great!!!!😊
Hi, I tried to do this but my yarn is a bit thinner. Is there any way to modify the pattern so that I can make this? I love the hat!
Yes you can! Just add more increase rounds till you get to the size you need :)
@Pretty Darn Adorable Crochet Tutorials hi, can you release the tutorial for a thinner yarn? I know a few of us cant wait! Thanks
Five weight please
For the band im confused! How how many rows does the band need in order to seam it together? Im a beginner! Lol!
Just keep working all the way around and when you get close stop when the beginning edge touches the ending edge and you can sew together. If you fast forward you will see what I mean 😊
@@prettydarnadorable ok if i need more info I’ll ask thanks
@@Value1lady sounds good :)
I thought i was the only one who used a paper clip to mark stitch. I also use a safety pin.
I use anything within reach! LOL Safety pin would be a great idea especially because sometimes my marker slip out :)
Sadly i have the correct amount of stitches but mine measures 9. I will have to pull it all out
So sorry are you using the same yarn and hook size?
Made 2 1st turned out perfect 2nd the rim ribbing was a mess. Way too big like too many ribs I used a stitch marker, counted.😢
Perhaps the yarn? Did you go down the hook size? Sorry the 2nd wasn't so good :(
