Hi thanks for watching. I used some foam strips that came with the AC unit. They get a little worn over time so I’ve had to replace these a few times. I also use a little white duct tape around the gap to keep bugs out.
Actually that’s what makes the wood frames such a good idea. You actually connect the wood frames to the framing inside the window which is typically wood anyway.
The plexiglass is held in place by the swivel clips around the perimeter. I slide them to make contact with the plexiglass. It’s not totally water tight, but I don’t worry about rain during the time it’s in as it’s always completely dry during the summer months in California
The plexiglass is slightly larger than the opening, so it rests right on the face of the flat 2x4s. (e.g. if the rough opening was 2’ x 3’, I cut the glass to be 2’-2” x 3’-2”). That allows for it to rest on the face of the wood. Then I have clips that hold it in place on the face of the wood
If you’re referring to the plexiglass please refer to my previous response. If you’re talking about the AC unit itself, it’s held in by the several screws around the frame that go into the wood. It’s supported by the brace underneath and the downward slope helps to keep in in place
I think this is the most solid looking installation I've seen so far. Going to try this. Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback
Love this, got a rental house and need a safe way to install. Great design.
Thanks for the feedback. Always good to know I’ve helped a few folks
Love this idea 🙌
Thanks. It’s been a lifesaver the past couple of years
Hmm.. what did you use to seal the air gaps?

Nice build,
Thanks for the feedback! It was fun
Very good job
How about a wood frame same size as window sash so just pops in and out?
I like that idea. It would be nice to have a simple one piece assembly. Thanks for watching!
My next summer project lol
I'm having a tough time finding those little metal brackets you turn to hold the plexiglass in
I used angle brackets from Lowe’s or Home Depot. They come in the hardware aisle. I used a hammer to pound them close to straight on the plexiglass.
@@homeprojectswithcarpenter460 thank you!
Make a screen window innone
What if all your sliding window is made out of steel material. How will you add them pieces of wood onto them

How do I install the plexi glass?

I don't understand what keeps the plexi glass from flying outside onto the ground. If you could please help me?

@homeprojectswithcarpenter460 Thank you you've been very helpful.
I don't understand how it stays in.
