    This is good info.. One thing to point out.. You mentioned a friend tried the powerline adapter and it didn't work for them. Its important to use circuits that are on the same phase of power.. Power comes in the house in two phases. In short -> plug the source and destination boxes into circuits that have breakers on the same side of your breaker panel. left = one phase right = the other phase. This makes a big difference in reliability.

    I’m gonna give this a try. My pole barn is about 125 feet from the house.

    Just a heads up that you actually should not bury CAT5/CAT6 cable in the ground, as it is unshielded. If lightning strikes near your property, it can travel that line to BOTH structures and fry your hardware on both ends. Fiber is the way to go long distance, as glass does not conduct any electricity (lightning).

      i am planning to bury the coax cable that goes into the modem directly from the house to the garage, cause I have one extra connection and got a good deal on it. Would you suggest if it would be ok to bury the coax? Probably gonna run it through a pvc pipe or some plastic wrapping (I live in midwest, so we see alot of snow and nice summers). I have no idea how to achieve this, and burrying seems to be the best one. Also the distance between the house to garage is not that much maybe 10-15 feet but its a detached garage.
      I basically want to use this extra connection to run some cctv recording and etc. So having exposed wires, like directly drilling a hole to the garage and run the ISP coax is off the table as I kinda want to be secure and less obvious.

      @@khizershareef5076 Hey, just randomly stumbled upon this video (not sure why it got recommended as I don't have a motorcycle or care about motorcycle repair). If you still have coax you can buy what's called "Direct Burial Coax Cable" it has some extra shielding particularly for rodents and moisture. You "shouldn't" bury normal coax but in all honesty it'll probably be fine if you shoved it in some PVC. The coax cable your ISP used will already have outdoor shielding (most likely but depending on how shit your ISP is I may be wrong). On most cables they usually have text saying what the cable actually is, if you just search up that cable you can find some information and make a judgment call on it. This is all presuming you haven't already buried it lol.

    Your 2 buildings need to be on the exact same breaker box supplying power to both buildings correct ?

    Correction on your wan and lan. Wan is when you got to google or any outside internet from your home. Lan is within the home network like when a computer inside the house talks to another computer in the garage

    Thanks for the info. Do all the powerline adapters need to be in close proximity to the initial one plugged into the router or just to each other? I just put a 2nd one in my garage and it's not picking up the signal (it's too far). I wonder if I could plug a third one in between the two and that would connect the existing two.

    • @HTMR

      Try a different circuit or even outlet. I improved my signal by placing closer to the main panel.

    if i already have a wifi extender, can i use that to received internet on the back end out in the garage? or do i need to buy what they provide with the adaptor near the modem and the other adaptor with wifi signal inserted in the power point outside in the garage.

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      An extender has to recieve a wifi signal from another source and it just rebroadcasts it.

    Is it good if the downloading speed number is 241?

  • @MrTeldave
    @MrTeldave 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Often one NS would work. You would bridge to the home network, either install outside or on a window mount. Ethernet from it to inside the garage and or add a wifi router. Powerline is Ok but I've found its not so good for critical equipment and sometimes needs rebooting from time to time. You need to know if your home wifi is just 2.4 or 2.4 plus 5 ghz
    so you know what one to buy.

      I had a set of powerline way back when I needed the internet in there to fix more old Jeep. Eventually those got lost or broken. This morning I ordered a WiFi kit to get some internet in there again and hopefully the WiFi will work in the backyard as well. I’m currently on a 50down 7up internet plan, but by the end of the month, I’ll be on a 1500 down/up. Hopefully the set I bought will do the job. Great video!!!
