For those of you saying barba lost. Ask yourselves again. Did he really lose? He was offered man 2. Sonny whole game plan was to prove murder. They were offered man 2 before the trial and barba was willing to take it halfway through. His client said otherwise. At the end of the day he still got man 2. So did he lose? He still got what was offered. Sonny did nothing special and still sucks a ada.

@@samueljimenez1 I don't remember why Raúl Esparza left, but I remember that Barba had pulled the plug on a baby that I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) was either braindead or if it survived, wouldn't have lived a sustainable life, and he was found not guilty and could've gone back to being an ADA but decided not to and resigned.
@@fairlyaround the baby was borned with a birth defect. It could not hear, see, smell, or taste. And by the end of the episode before barba pulled the plug it was in the hospital alive due to a breathing tube.

I’m sorry to break it to you but this was a 1 time deal. Barba is not back by any stretch of the word he simply guest starred as a defense attorney and now he’s gone for good most likely, hence as to why they had a goodbye drink afterwards. Stabler is most likely gonna be a 1 time deal as well. Stabller will appear in an episode the next couple weeks then he’ll be off to his own show and not be on Svu. So all this hype is just a little over exaggerated he’s not “back”.
Barba had a huge proud dad moment even though he lost here. Look at his face.

Carisi offered man two as a deal, so in the end Carisi still got the defendant behind bars. What did Carisi ever do to you for you to rag on him on every comment giving him praise?

It's really sad that Carisi only feels like he has Rollins' support from the entire squad, mostly because it's true and half the time she's mad at him for nothing at all. He's one of them but it's like they forgot the second he moved to be an ADA and it kills me to see him feel all alone.

It's nice that Carisi won...but I don't know if he bested barba, because the person he represented has emotions and felt a certain way. You can't control people and sometimes they can't control how they feel. I'm glad Barba wasn't defending a rapist, but a man who wanted justice for his daughter. In a way it still feels like he's in svu. I hope for more Barba eps though and I can't wait for Eliot's return!

Yesterday, I just finished the season 16 (Carisi's first as a detective and law student) and it's so wonderful to see how Carisi gives these awesome court's performance in front of Barba, the men who, in that season, gave him a (pretty funny) hard time everytime Carisi (the detective) talked about laws

This was the best episode in a long time! So good!
This is why SVU is one of the best shows ever to come out of America, it’s current and apparently the cops on that show are far better than the real American cops! However, apart from reality’s jokes, SVU’s stories are always thought-provoking and actually makes you think of situations you may have faced in your life and realising what an individual did to you, (even if they’ve thought it was a joke,) what they did wasn’t right. May Law and Order: Special Victim Unit continues it’s brilliant show and so excited that Chris Meloni has returned back to the Law and Order family, and hoping to watch him act alongside Mariska Hargitay, again
I absolutely love both of them, but I personally don't think he bested him. Barba's client get a far lighter sentence than he technically should have for the crime he committed, and he had the jury's sympathy the entire time whether Sonny liked it or not. Ah well, I was just excited to see Barba again! The best ADA!

That's the nature of the case. No one is going to think the dad is a scum-bag or monster. It is very hard not to sympathize with him.
The job of the prosecutor here is to get the jury to use their heads and not their hearts. They can sympathize, but what he did was murder, and if tolerated we would have chaos. So they have to convict. If they did, the prosecutor did a good job.

I don’t believe he truly beat him. Considering that he could have been charged with murder and given life, but got man 2 can be considered a win for Barba. That’s a light sentence for what he did.

I haven't had the debut of the new season in my country yet, but I'm so looking forward to seeing Barba again. I hated that he lost, but I'm happy for Carisi. He struggled hard to get here. Does anyone know if Barba will make other episodes or stay only in this one?

Yeah, i felt really bad for his daughter, but waiting 40 minutes before he was in the vicinity and he already had a weapon; first degree murder / premeditated . the man who assaulted his daughter should be locked up for what he did.; for a very very long time. Murder isn't how the court would have punished the person. Now the handicapped vet will be likely put under arrest and court martial will likely occur as well since he had a rank. 😞

This isn’t like Barth becoming a defense attorney at all. Barba represented this guy because after hearing why he killed the person and talking to SVU, he realized that nobody (including himself) really wanted that man in prison. His moral compass didn’t go out the window like Barth’s did.
