- This is the world's first electric G-Wagen, the Mercedes Benz concept EQG. Mercedes were kind enough to bring the only EQG ever made to Dubai to let us have a closer look at what they're presenting as the future of the G-Wagen. Today Sergi and Tuesday give us a closer look at the Mercedes EQG and show us why it's one of the coolest electric cars that's due to go into production soon!

I couldn't imagine driving a quiet G wagon. Lol The sound of the V8 is part of what makes it so awesome. It needs speakers for exhaust or something lol

This looks like everday use instead, if they take a shower and buy a new boot every use
Just sneezing in that interior will leave a mark. If someone wanted to keep it clean, they would have to take a shower before everytime they use it.
One trip outdoors, & the interior colour will no longer be pristine white. Just the oils from your hands,Yeesh. I hope it has a glove compartment.

Damn that's pretty fricken cool. Sucks regulations will keep it from having some of the things that make this thing awesome looking. Love that silver aluminum paint and silver carbon fiber. Never thought I'd be a fan of an all whit interior but they definitely pulled it off with the outside making it work for it awesomely

Ever wondered what the “G” in the G-Class stands for? It surely isn't just a letter that Mercedes-Benz assigns to different models in its lineup. It stands for “Gelandewagen”, which means cross country vehicle. This is why it is also commonly known as simply G-wagen, which is just a short form of the name.
It is rather „Geländewagen“, but yeah.

🙏🏽 they eventually decide to include the MBUX Hyperscreen once production versions come out. Even if it’s on select EV G-Wagons, as I’m sure they’ll offer a few different trims.
The front is getting worse and worse, now we have a tiny puppy, let’s don’t ruin the “stronger than time” legend by making it look like a little panda. I’m still waiting for the 4x4 Squared, even though I’d love to drive electric across the globe but infrastructure is not ready either. Fantastic episode btw ❤

Wow, this makes so much sense to do. Like the hummer the G Wagon and others were gas guzzlers, plus this thing off road will be great all the benefits of electric motors are great for off road driving! Also I give them props for keeping the essence of the G wagon like the exposed door hinges and the boxy shape, the spare tire on the back, the great sound the doors make when they shut. It's not going to get confused for anything else it's 100% G Wagon.
These things will never see dirt. It’s a poser mobile for the urban warrior.
Take this off-road in australia it won’t make it out. Tow trucks will make tons of money though.

@@fugawiaus oh absolutely it will sit in a garage and never see dirt like you said. No owner of these uses it for its purposes. I'm just saying "if" they did, it would be better but sadly no one ever will.
@@Jezee213 4x4 evs are basically useless off road. Plenty of power and torque but the way they put the power and torque to the ground is useless. You can’t go too far from home due to no chargers in the bush. I’d never do a river crossing in one. Overnight camping is a worry (range). They can’t tow anything (again destroys range).
How would it be good off road?
@@fugawiaus Ya I'd be weary of wading in deep water cause of that battery. I haven't experienced off road in an EV myself but I hear people say they are better because of the one peddle thing they can feather the throttle and make micro adjustments easier. People that tried the Rivian off road swear by it too, I guess the weight being all down low helps too. Again, I'm not an expert in this so I just went by what I heard, but thats interesting you make some good points!
@@Jezee213 because they don’t have low gears, control is a lot harder. They tend to spin the wheels easier and get bogged. Every touch on the accelerator puts too much torque down. Their weight plays a part as well. They tend to sink easier and having the battery slung under is highly damagable.
Rivian owners that have just over spent massive amounts on their new 4x4 are not going to rubbish them in general. 😃
The G stands for Geländewagen.
And this is German and means off-road vehicle.

As a huge G wagon Fan, I personally find it weird as G wagon is a sign of luxury and it's classic features the sound and much more.....
Considering it's identity as a great high end off road car I would consider a gas option as it feels different when you get in and feel the thrust with the boosted sound of car..... It actually hits different on roads when a G wagon passes by by a huge beast sound

As an owner of several G Wagons, let me give you the background information.
In 1971 (53 years ago), the Mercedes G Wagon was designed and created by Daimler Mercedes and several Iranian (Persian) engineers at the specific request of the King of Iran (Persia) Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. This was a secret project until February 1979.
The G Wagon was initially intended to be a military vehicle exclusive to Iran (Persia) and it was never intended to be commercialized to be used by the civilian population.
Due to the 1978 revolution in Iran, the Mercedes G Wagon was never delivered to Iran and stayed at the Mercedes factory for over a year.
Since Mercedes was left with thousands of military-style vehicles (G Wagon), they couldn’t sell them to the general population. During that one year, Mercedes took away a lot of the Iranian military equipment, repainted the G Wagons with different commercial paints, and in February 1979 (45 years ago), introduced the G Wagon to the world.
The father of the G Wagon is rooted in Iran (Persian), and today, we would not have the G Wagon accessible to us had the 1978 Iranian revolution didn’t occur.
So, we owe our deepest gratitude to the Iranians (Persians) for the G Wagon.
