  • Diagnosing a sub zero 650.
This is the part one and just a general motors and electronics test.
The point of this is to make sure all the basic functions of your sub-zero fridge work.
Test your doors. Make sure they close.
Test your lights and Fan switches. Make sure the lights go on and off.
Make sure your interior fan spins.
Grab your non contact multi meter.
Make sure your compressor is getting power and running.
Make sure your Condenser fan is spinning and a good pace.
Make sure your condenser is clean.
Any of these things can be wrong with your machine and could possibly solve your issue if you find that they are not working.
If you pass all these tests, you may have a "sealed systems issue" or an issue related to your cooling system.

This is exactly what is happening to my 650. Did you ever post a part 2?

Hello, love your videos. I wish you were located in CA! I have a SubZero 736TC and the condenser fan doesn't seem to start. Freezer is cold, Refrigerator got hot as did the front tank. I hear a click ever once in a while, which I assume is the relay trying to turn it on. I get 11.5 vt at the fan connector, but not sure if that's enough voltage or if it's ac or dc, since I haven't pulled it yet and my voltmeter is on 'auto'. The error codes seem to be fine. Is there any test I can do to confirm it's the fan and not a thermistor or relay? Much appreciated! -J

Outstanding videos. My 601 F seems stuck on over cooling. Reading -20. Gonna try cycling the breaker to see if the compressor is stuck on. Thoughts?

Stuck relay on CPU board. May need new board.

On the right path! Reset at breaker! Sounds like the relay on the board is stuck and your compressor is not shutting off.

@@subzerorepair update- there are 5 relays on the board- I’m guessing compressor, fan, defroster, ice maker. Not sure which is which- would love to know. I tapped and thumped each one. Freezer working fine now!!!! Gonna change out board anyway and keep this one as a back up

I have a BI-42S, and it stopped working. There is power to the lights; however, the control panel is not functional, meaning that no numbers are showing at all. Yesterday there were two times when the power went out; not sure if this caused any issues. Any ideas on where should I start before calling for service? I'm in GA. Thanks.

You have a bad cpu board part number 7041549. I’m sure you figure this out already

Hi! I have a (1999) 650F and it is not cooling in the refrigerator section. Freezer is working fine. Error code says Vacuum Condenser, which I have done. Alas, there are no service people in my area. The light works ‘most’ of the time….just have to flick the toggle to make it come on if it doesn’t when I open the door. I am sooo frustrated, as I don’t want to ‘just buy a new fridge’ (as the advisor at SubZero said!). Any thoughts?

Hello my sub zero 601f once in a while we will open it and it will be very hot on the inside and around the door ??? can it be stuck on defrost I? thanks Dan my wife thinks the door was not shut all the way when this happens and it is really hot in there

It can get stuck in defrost, indicating a bad control board. However, when this happens it’s quite obvious as your food will literally cook inside the machine. My guess is that you have a bad condenser fan motor. Very common. The heat you are feeling is the high side refrigeration lines on the interior of the door overheating due to a bad fan. Watch @subzerospecialists video on changing a condenser fan motor.
