If you ask me the Toymaker should have been the villain in each of the 3 specials. The toymaker special felt a little bit rushed and the stakes werent that high. A three part story would have made way more sense and the payoff would be better

I don't consider the Doctor ejecting the wrong Donna a fakeout. I think he 100% chose the wrong Donna by accident and just brute forced the right answer with the TARDIS' scanners. It was a quick shot, and they didn't really discuss it, but the Doctor failed to recognize his friend from his enemy.

oh yeah absolutely and i find that so interesting and i think the fact he made that initial mistake and was so close to losing Donna probably adds onto the guild and weight on his shoulders explored more in The Giggle, what i meant by takeout was more how it framed it as if it was Donna’s death and then obviously backtracks and he returns to save her

This was the perfect point to reintroduce The Valeyard, and they missed it. During the bi-generation, they should have had Ncuti be all the doctors hope and positivity, while inside Tennants doctor a deep anger for everything he’s been through takes hold and he ends up becoming The Valeyard. We have two doctors, it would have been so easy, plus Tennant plays fantastic villains.

having not watched classic who i never even thought of this but this is a really interesting idea!

If there was any point they would introduce the valeyard, it would’ve been at his “time lord victorious” era, because the fact that he avoided that means that he’s unlikely to repeat that, especially with the same face that almost fell to darkness being a constant reminder of that

Eh, the valeyard was never that interesting.

In regards to the bi-generation, I like this one theory I saw in a thread in regards to it. The theory being that because the doctor evoked a superstition at the edge of the universe that not only caused the toymaker to manifest into their reality but that it also made superstition and myths real so that's why bi-generation that's only every been a myth occurred. I imagine the 14th will show up again and be reabsorbed after the 15th deals with all the pantheon business.

Just a thought, if you can't ball your eyes out in front of your mates, what's the point? 😅🙃

very true, just the fact i’d forced all these non nerds to watch Doctor Who at their own house, a show they could not care less about, and then i start crying would’ve been slightly embarrassing 😂😂

In the second special when he picked the Donna he believed in, and then dashed away as the Donna left behind cried out "You've got the wrong Donna!" as the ship starts exploding, I really thought they were going to leave it there and let it be deliberately ambiguous, and maybe somewhere down the road could have a villain try to exploit the uncertainty about making the right choice in both the Doctor and the audience and sew discord and fear. I feel like that might have been a slightly stronger and more interesting direction to go with than the fakeout death, but I still really loved these specials for what they were.

Tenant revived it hardcore tho. I can understand og fans seeing a problem. To me. Yes Tenants deserves as many tips of the hat as it can get because he was that iconic when he was in that position. Just imo. He was built for playing Doctor who

I agree re: the Chibnall era, Jodi Whittaker is a good actor, but she wasn't given material that would have let her shine, such a missed opportunity, as a result, almost wish she'd stuck around & RTD had had a go at writing her Doctor, but that understandably wasn't going to happen. That Tennants Doctor in these 3 episodes is even more of a PTSD Doctor than 9th was & he plays that so well makes the whole thing of Gatwa's Doctor being "ok" because Tennants Doctor went away & healed, feels deserved (they possibly overplay it come Gatwa's episdoe 3 where he should be enraged, but isn't is a problem for me). The Toymaker is brilliant (but we knew he would be).

It's been five months, and I thoughts.
    1. It was good, it felt like classic DW.
    2. It didn't feel like a 60th anniversary for DW, but more of a Russell Celebration, like, "David and Catherine are back! Isn't that great"
    3. I Like the 15th, so Far his time has been pretty good. But I hate his introduction. It felt cheap, like it was a way to keep David in the show incase the ratings go down.
    4. They should have killed of Donna, JK :^)

So I do think it's favouritism and I have found that DT's doctors always get the change the lore dramatically it annoys me. Added the "new look" TARDIS is just a redone old variant/combo of an old cybermen ship

It should be noted that RTD did say that they would've done as many episodes as the duo had schedule space for. Three was the most they could manage without rushing them. I reckon if they could've managed a full series, we woulda got that, and it would've seen stuff explained further. However, I know they'll deffo write it in through Ncuti, like they did with the Jodie negatives through Tennant in WBY and The Giggle

I enjoyed this trilogy of specials and thought the stories were interesting, but my only complaints were more the mavity joke being overused and perhaps some of the political undertones being a tad unnecessary. Yes, Davies is known for those undertones but the pronoun thing didn't need to be preached about multiple times in one episode. It reminded me of series 10 when Moffat felt like he had to remind the audience that Bill Potts was gay. Also, I kinda wish Davies ignored the bad writing of the Chibnall run and hadn't done that whole bigeneration thing.

Basically it's reason to bring Tennant back whenever rating decline or need a boost. Great for Tennant, but I think his legacy is being eroded away.

See, everyone who says this doesn't elaborate the point.
Everytime they replace Tennant, people kick off. Fact. Smith had a rough initial reaction... now he's loved.
I can guarantee Ncuti is going to get the same situation
